< Acts 7 >
1 And the high-priest said, Are then these things so?
Lubni ol aanaanis, “Wanni kun dhugumaa?” jedhee isa gaafate.
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
Innis akkana jedhee deebise; “Yaa obbolootaa fi yaa abbootii, mee na dhagaʼaa! Waaqni ulfinaa, yeroo abbaan keenya Abrahaam Mesophotaamiyaa turetti, utuu inni biyya Kaaraan hin dhaqin isatti mulʼate.
3 and said to him, “Go forth from thy country and thy kindred, and come into the land which I will show thee.”
Waaqnis, ‘Biyya keetii fi saba kee dhiisiitii gara biyya ani si argisiisuu dhaqi’ jedheen.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran; and from thence, after his father was dead, he caused him to remove into this land wherein ye now dwell;
“Innis biyya Kaldootaatii baʼee dhaqee Kaaraan keessa jiraate. Erga abbaan isaa duʼe immoo Waaqni achii isa baasee biyya isin amma keessa jiraattan kanatti isa erge.
5 and he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on; and he promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
Taʼus Waaqni dhaala tokko illee, lafa taakkuu tokkittii illee biyya sana keessatti hin kennineef; garuu Waaqni akka Abrahaamii fi sanyii isaa warra isaan booddeetiif biyya sana akkuma qabeenyaatti kennuuf waadaa galeef. Abrahaam yeroo sana ijoollee tokko illee hin qabu ture.
6 And God spoke in this manner: “That his posterity should sojourn in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage, and ill-treat them four hundred years;
Waaqni akkana jedhee karaa kanaan isatti dubbate; ‘Sanyiin kee biyya kan isaa hin taʼin keessatti alagaa taʼa; waggaa dhibba afuris ni garboomfama; ni cunqurfamas.’
7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge,” said God; “and after that they shall come forth, and shall worship me in this place.”
Waaqni akkana jedhe; ‘Ani garuu saba isaan akkuma garbootaatti tajaajilan sana nan adaba; ergasii immoo isaan biyya sanaa baʼanii lafa kanatti na waaqeffatu.’
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
Waaqnis kakuu dhagna qabaa Abrahaamiif kenne; Abrahaamis abbaa Yisihaaq taʼee guyyaa saddeettaffaatti dhagna isa qabe; Yisihaaqis ergasii abbaa Yaaqoob taʼe; Yaaqoob immoo abbaa abbootii gosoota kudha lamaanii taʼe.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,
“Abbootiin sunis waan Yoosefitti hinaafaniif akka inni biyya Gibxitti garba taʼuuf isa gurguran; Waaqni garuu isa wajjin ture;
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt, and all his house.

11 Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress; and our fathers found no Sustenance.
“Baruma sana biyya Gibxii fi biyya Kanaʼaan hundatti beelli buʼee rakkina guddaa fide; abbootiin keenyas waan nyaatan tokko illee argachuu hin dandeenye.
12 But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers first.

13 And at the second time Joseph was recognized by his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
Imala isaanii lammaffaa irrattis Yoosef eenyummaa isaa obboloota isaatti hime; Faraʼoonis waaʼee obboloota Yoosef beeke.
14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls.

15 And Jacob went down [[into Egypt]], and died, he and our fathers.

16 And they were removed to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.

17 But as the time of the promise drew near, which God solemnly made to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
“Akkuma yeroon waadaa Waaqni Abrahaamiif gale sun itti raawwatamu dhiʼaachaa dhufeen baayʼinni saba keenyaa Gibxi keessatti akka malee guddate.
18 until another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
Ergasii ‘Mootiin waaʼee Yoosef hin beekin haaraan tokko bulchaa Gibxi taʼe.’
19 The same dealt subtly with our race, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they should cast out their infants, that they might not be preserved alive.
Innis akka malee saba keenya cunqurse; abbootii keenyas akka daaʼimman isaanii dhumaniif akka isaan gad gatan dirqisiise.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair; who was nourished in his father's house three months.
“Yeroon Museen dhalates yeruma kana ture; innis fuula Waaqaa duratti miidhagaa ture; jiʼa sadiifis mana abbaa isaatti kunuunfamee guddate.
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for herself as a son.
Yommuu inni alatti gatametti intalli Faraʼoon fudhattee akka ilma isheetti isa guddifatte.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his worlds and deeds.
Museen ogummaa warra Gibxi hunda barate; innis dubbii isaatii fi hojii isaatiin jabaa ture.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
“Museen yommuu umuriin isaa waggaa 40 guutetti dhaqee obboloota isaa ijoollee Israaʼel ilaaluu murteesse.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed by smiting the Egyptian.
Museenis utuu namni Gibxi tokko nama isaanii tokko miidhuu arge. Kanaafis nama isaanii gargaaruu dhaqee namicha Gibxi sana ajjeesuun haaloo baaseef.
25 For he supposed his brethren would understand that God through his hand would give them salvation; but they understood not.

26 And the next day he showed himself to them as they were contending, and urged them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one another?

27 But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
“Namichi hiriyaa isaa miidhaa ture sun garuu Musee achi of irraa darbatee akkana jedhe; ‘Eenyutu nurratti bulchaa fi abbaa murtii si godhe?
28 Dost thou mean to kill me, as thou didst kill the Egyptian yesterday?”
Akkuma kaleessa namicha Gibxi ajjeefte sana ana illee ajjeesuu barbaaddaa?’
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
Museenis waan kana dhageenyaan biyya Midiyaanitti baqatee galtuu taʼee achi jiraate; achittis ilmaan lama dhalche.
30 And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the flaming fire of a bush.
“Erga waggaan afurtamni darbee booddees ergamaan Waaqaa tokko gammoojjii naannoo Tulluu Siinaa keessatti daggala bobaʼu keessaa arraba ibiddaa keessaan Museetti mulʼate.
31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the sight; and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came [[to him]],
Innis waan kana arginaan waan arge sana dinqifate. Yommuu ilaaluuf itti dhiʼaatettis sagalee Gooftaa dhagaʼe.
32 saying, “I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” And Moses trembled and durst not behold.
Sagaleen sunis, ‘Ani Waaqa abbootii keetii, Waaqa Abrahaam, kan Yisihaaqii fi kan Yaaqoob’ jedheen. Museenis ni hollate; ilaaluus ni sodaate.
33 And the Lord said to him, “Loose the sandals from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
“Gooftaan immoo akkana jedheen; ‘Sababii iddoon ati dhaabatu kun qulqulluu taʼeef kophee kee baafadhu.
34 I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them; and now, come, I will send thee into Egypt.”
Ani akka sabni koo biyya Gibxi keessatti cunqurfamaa jiru dhugumaan argeera; booʼicha isaaniis dhagaʼee isaan bilisoomsuuf jedhee gad buʼeera; egaa kottu Gibxittin deebisee si ergaatii.’
35 This Moses, whom they denied, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge?” this very man did God send both as a ruler and a redeemer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
“Namni isaan, ‘Eenyutu bulchaa fi abbaa murtii si godhe?’ jedhanii tuffatan sun Museedhuma kana. Isas Waaqni akka inni bulchaa fi furaa isaanii taʼuuf harka ergamaa Waaqaa kan daggala keessaan isatti mulʼate sanaatiin erge.
36 This very man brought them out, working wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, “A prophet will God raise up to you from among your brethren, as he raised up me.”
“Museen kun isuma saba Israaʼeliitiin, ‘Waaqni sabuma keessan keessaa raajii akka kootii tokko isinii kaasa’ jedhe sanaa dha.
38 This is he that was in the assembly in the wilderness with the anger who spake to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received the living oracles to give to us;

39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt,
“Abbootiin keenya garuu isaaf ajajamuu didan; qooda ajajamuu isa tuffatanii garaa isaaniitiinis gara Gibxitti deebiʼan.
40 saying to Aaron, “Make us gods who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.”
Arooniinis, ‘Waaqota nu dura deeman nuu tolchi; Museen Gibxii nu baase sun maal akka taʼe hin beeknuutii!’ jedhan.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

42 But God turned away, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, “Did ye offer to me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Waaqni garuu isaan irraa garagalee akka isaan humnoota samii irraa waaqeffataniif isaan dhiise. Kunis waan kitaaba raajotaa keessatti barreeffame sanaan wal fakkaata; innis akkana jedha; “‘Yaa mana Israaʼel isin waggaa afurtama gammoojjii keessatti takkumaa aarsaa fi kennaa naaf fiddaniirtuu?

44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
“Abbootiin keenya gammoojjii keessatti dunkaana dhuga baʼumsaa of biraa qabu turan. Dunkaanni sunis akkuma Waaqni akka Museen akkuma bifa arge sanaatti hojjetuuf isa qajeelchetti hojjetamee ture.

47 But Solomon built him a house.
Garuu kan mana sana ijaareef Solomoon ture.
48 Yet the Most High dwelleth not in [[temples]] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
“Taʼus Waaqni Waan Hundaa Olii mana harki namaa ijaare keessa hin jiraatu; kunis akkuma raajichi akkana jedhee dubbatee dha:
49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will ye build for me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
“‘Samiin teessoo koo ti; laftis ejjeta miilla kootii ti. Yoos isin mana akkamii naaf ijaartu ree? jedha Gooftaan. Yookaan lafti boqonnaa kootii eessa taʼa?
50 Did not my hands make all these things?”
Waan kana hunda harki koo hin hojjennee?’
51 Stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears! ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
“Yaa namoota mata jabeeyyii nana! garaan keessan hin amanu; gurri keessanis hin dhagaʼu! Isin yeroo hunda Hafuura Qulqulluun mormitu; akkuma abbootiin keessan godhan sana isinis gootu.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they slew those who foretold the coming of the righteous one, of whom ye have now become the betrayers and murderers;

54 But when they heard these things, their hearts were filled with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
Isaanis yommuu waan kana dhagaʼanitti aariin guggubatanii isatti ciniinnatan.
55 But, being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up earnestly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Innis, “Ani kunoo samiin banamee, Ilma Namaas isaa mirga Waaqaa dhaabatee jiru nan arga” jedhe.
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;

60 And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And saying this, he fell asleep.
