Acts 7
1 And the high-priest said, Are then these things so?
೧ಆಗ ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನು, “ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಸತ್ಯವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಸ್ತೆಫನನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ತಂದೆಗಳೇ, ಕೇಳಿರಿ.
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
೨ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲಪುರುಷನಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಖಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಮೆಸೊಪೊತಾಮ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮಹಿಮೆಯುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು;
3 and said to him, “Go forth from thy country and thy kindred, and come into the land which I will show thee.”
೩‘ನೀನು, ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವದೇಶವನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಬಳಗವನ್ನೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಾನು ತೋರಿಸುವ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran; and from thence, after his father was dead, he caused him to remove into this land wherein ye now dwell;
೪“ಆಗ ಅವನು ಕಲ್ದೀಯರ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ, ಖಾರಾನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ಸತ್ತಮೇಲೆ, ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ನೀವು ಈಗ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದನು.
5 and he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on; and he promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
೫ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಲಿಡುವಷ್ಷ್ಟು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಡದೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ನೀನಿರುವ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ನಂತರ ಬರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ಸ್ವತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದನು.
6 And God spoke in this manner: “That his posterity should sojourn in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage, and ill-treat them four hundred years;
೬ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗಳಾಗಿರುವರು. ಆ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ದಾಸರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನಾನೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ತನಕ ಕ್ರೂರವಾಗಿ ನಡಿಸುವರು.’
7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge,” said God; “and after that they shall come forth, and shall worship me in this place.”
೭ಮತ್ತು ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನದವರು ದಾಸರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಅನ್ಯಜನರಿಗೆ ನಾನೇ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವೆನು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಹೊರಟುಬಂದು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವರು’ ಎಂಬುದೇ.
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
೮ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರುತಾಗಿ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಇಸಾಕನನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ಎಂಟನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಮಾಡಿದನು. ಮುಂದೆ ಇಸಾಕನು ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು, ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,
೯“ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಕಿಚ್ಚಿನಿಂದ ಯೋಸೇಫನನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾರಿಬಿಟ್ಚರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದು,
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt, and all his house.
೧೦ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಷ್ಟಗಳಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಫರೋಹನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ದಯೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರನೂ, ಜ್ಞಾನವುಳ್ಳವನೂ ಆಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದನು. ಫರೋಹನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ತನ್ನ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
11 Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress; and our fathers found no Sustenance.
೧೧“ಆಗ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬರಗಾಲ ಬಂದು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಸಂಕಟವಾಯಿತು; ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
12 But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers first.
೧೨ಆದರೆ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ದವಸಧಾನ್ಯ ಉಂಟೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಕೇಳಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರನ್ನು ಮೊದಲ ಸಾರಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
13 And at the second time Joseph was recognized by his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
೧೩ಅವರು ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಯೋಸೇಫನು ಅಣ್ಣತಮ್ಮಂದಿರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಗುರುತು ಸಿಕ್ಕುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಮತ್ತು ಯೋಸೇಫನ ವಂಶವು ಫರೋಹನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿತು.
14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls.
೧೪ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಂಧುಬಳಗವನ್ನೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
15 And Jacob went down [[into Egypt]], and died, he and our fathers.
೧೫ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನೂ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರೂ ತೀರಿಹೋದರು.
16 And they were removed to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
೧೬ಅವರನ್ನು ಶೇಕೆಮಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮೋರನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸಮಾಧಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಟ್ಟರು.
17 But as the time of the promise drew near, which God solemnly made to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
೧೭“ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲವು ಸಮೀಪಿಸುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿ ಬಹಳವಾದರು.
18 until another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
೧೮ಕಡೆಗೆ ಯೋಸೇಫನನ್ನು ಅರಿಯದ ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬ ಅರಸನು ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದನು.
19 The same dealt subtly with our race, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they should cast out their infants, that they might not be preserved alive.
೧೯ಈ ಅರಸನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಕುಯುಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಕೂಸುಗಳನ್ನು ಜೀವದಿಂದುಳಿಸಬಾರದೆಂದು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರನ್ನು ಕ್ರೂರವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂಸಿಸಿಸನು.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair; who was nourished in his father's house three months.
೨೦ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಅವನು ದಿವ್ಯಸುಂದರನಾಗಿದ್ದನು ಮತ್ತು ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳು ಸಾಕಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for herself as a son.
೨೧ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದಾಗ, ಫರೋಹನ ಮಗಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾಗಿ ಸಾಕಿದಳು.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his worlds and deeds.
೨೨ಮೋಶೆಯು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದವರ ಸರ್ವವಿದ್ಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಮರ್ಥನಾದನು.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
೨೩“ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸು ತುಂಬುತ್ತಾ ಇರಲು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ವಂಶಸ್ಥರಾದ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನು ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಸೆಯು ಅವನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿತು.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed by smiting the Egyptian.
೨೪ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ಅವನು ನೋಡಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯಕೊಟ್ಟು ಪೀಡಿಸುವ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸಿದನು.
25 For he supposed his brethren would understand that God through his hand would give them salvation; but they understood not.
೨೫ಹೀಗೆ ದೇವರು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆಂಬುದು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಬರುವುದೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಹಾಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
26 And the next day he showed himself to them as they were contending, and urged them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one another?
೨೬ಮರುದಿನ ತಾವು ತಾವೇ ಹೊಡೆದಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದು, ‘ಜನರೇ, ನೀವು ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲವೇ, ನೀವೇಕೆ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ?’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಪಡಿಸಲು ಬಂದನು.
27 But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
೨೭“ಆದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಕುಲದವನಿಗೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವನು, ‘ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ, ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಟ್ಟವರು ಯಾರು?
28 Dost thou mean to kill me, as thou didst kill the Egyptian yesterday?”
೨೮ನಿನ್ನೆ ಆ ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಂತೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೀಯೋ?’ ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ನೂಕಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
೨೯ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್‍ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಗಂಡು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು.
30 And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the flaming fire of a bush.
೩೦“ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ತುಂಬಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇವದೂತನು ಸೀನಾಯಿಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳ್ಳಿನ ಪೊದೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಉರಿಯುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the sight; and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came [[to him]],
೩೧ಮೋಶೆಯು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಆ ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಪಟ್ಟು ಇದೇನೆಂದು, ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬರಲು,
32 saying, “I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” And Moses trembled and durst not behold.
೩೨‘ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಾದ, ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮ ಇಸಾಕ ಯಾಕೋಬರ ದೇವರು’ ಎಂಬ ಕರ್ತನ ಶಬ್ದವುಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಮೋಶೆಯು ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಸ್ಥಿರನಾಗಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಧೈರ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದವನಾದನು.
33 And the Lord said to him, “Loose the sandals from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
೩೩ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, ‘ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲಿನ ಕೆರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆ; ನೀನು ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದದ್ದು.
34 I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them; and now, come, I will send thee into Egypt.”
೩೪ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ದುರವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡೇ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅವರ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದುಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಬಾ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
35 This Moses, whom they denied, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge?” this very man did God send both as a ruler and a redeemer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
೩೫“ಅವರು ಯಾವ ಮೋಶೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿ ‘ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ, ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಟ್ಟವರು ಯಾರು?’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೋ, ಅವನನ್ನೇ ದೇವರು ಪೊದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ದೂತನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ, ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಮಾಡುವವನನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು.
36 This very man brought them out, working wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
೩೬ಅವನೇ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಕೆಂಪು ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅದ್ಭುತಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸೂಚಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದನು.
37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, “A prophet will God raise up to you from among your brethren, as he raised up me.”
೩೭“ಆ ಮೋಶೆಯೇ, ‘ದೇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುವನು’ ಎಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
38 This is he that was in the assembly in the wilderness with the anger who spake to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received the living oracles to give to us;
೩೮ಅವನೇ ಸೀನಾಯಿಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ, ತನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ದೇವದೂತನಿಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೂ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸಭೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಇದ್ದು ಜೀವಕರವಾದ ದೈವೋಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿ ನಮಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟವನು ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt,
೩೯“ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಅವನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಪುನಃ ಐಗುಪ್ತದೇಶದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟರು.
40 saying to Aaron, “Make us gods who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.”
೪೦“ಅವರು ಆರೋನನಿಗೆ, ‘ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಆ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಏನಾದನೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಮಗೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡು’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರು.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
೪೧ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಒಂದು ಬಸವನನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಆ ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ ವಸ್ತುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
42 But God turned away, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, “Did ye offer to me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
೪೨ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿಮುಖನಾಗಿ, ಆಕಾಶದ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಣಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವುದೇನಂದರೆ, “‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ವಂಶದವರೇ, ನೀವು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ನನಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿರೋ? ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ;
43 And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, the figures which ye made to worship them; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.”
೪೩ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಆರಾಧಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಂದರೆ ಮೊಲೋಖನ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನೂ ರೆಫಾನ್ ದೇವತೆಯ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರರೂಪವನ್ನೂ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿರಲ್ಲಾ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಾಬಿಲೋನಿನ ಆಚೆಗೆ ಗಡಿಪಾರು ಮಾಡುವೆನು’ ಎಂಬುದೇ ಆಗಿದೆ.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
೪೪“ದೇವದರ್ಶನ ಗುಡಾರವು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಮೋಶೆಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದವನು, ನೀನು ನೋಡಿದ ಮಾದರಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದನು.
45 which also our fathers received and brought in with Joshua, at their taking possession of the gentiles whom God drove out from before our fathers, until the days of David;
೪೫ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅದನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಂದ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ಬಂದು ದೇವರು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟ ಅನ್ಯಜನಗಳ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಆ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ತಂದರು. ಅದು ದಾವೀದನ ಕಾಲದವರೆಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಇತ್ತು.
46 who found favor before God, and asked that he might find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
೪೬ದಾವೀದನು ದೇವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಪೆ ಹೊಂದಿ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
೪೭ಆದರೆ ದೇವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದವನು ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು.
48 Yet the Most High dwelleth not in [[temples]] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
೪೮ಆದರೂ ಪರಾತ್ಪರನಾದ ದೇವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ನಿವಾಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವವನಲ್ಲ.
49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will ye build for me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
೪೯“‘ಆಕಾಶವು ನನಗೆ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನ, ಭೂಮಿಯು ನನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಪೀಠ; ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಎಂಥ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡುವಿರಿ? ನನ್ನ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಯಾವುದು?
50 Did not my hands make all these things?”
೫೦ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯೇ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿತಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ನುಡಿದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
51 Stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears! ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
೫೧“ಹಠಮಾರಿಗಳೇ, ಮನಶುದ್ಧಿಯೂ, ಕರ್ಣಶುದ್ಧಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲದವರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನೀವೂ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they slew those who foretold the coming of the righteous one, of whom ye have now become the betrayers and murderers;
೫೨ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರು ಹಿಂಸೆಪಡಿಸದವರು ಯಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ಅವರು ಆ ನೀತಿಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಆಗಮನದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂತಿಳಿಸಿದವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು, ನೀವು ಈಗ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
53 ye who received the Law as ordained through angels, and did not keep it.
೫೩ದೇವದೂತರ ಮೂಲಕ ನೇಮಕವಾದ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ನೀವು ಹೊಂದಿದವರಾದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
54 But when they heard these things, their hearts were filled with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
೫೪ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವರು ರೌದ್ರಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲು ಕಡಿದರು.
55 But, being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up earnestly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
೫೫ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತನಾಗಿ ಆಕಾಶದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ, ದೇವರ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನೂ, ದೇವರ ಬಲಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡು;
56 and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
೫೬“ಅಗೋ, ಆಕಾಶವು ತೆರೆದಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ, ಮನುಷ್ಯಕುಮಾರನು ದೇವರ ಬಲಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
೫೭ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಮಹಾಶಬ್ದದಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿ, ಕಿವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು,
58 and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul;
೫೮ಅವನನ್ನು ಊರ ಹೊರಕ್ಕೆ ನೂಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದರು. ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಸೌಲನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನ ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟರು.
59 and they stoned Stephen, making supplication, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
೫೯ಅವರು ಸ್ತೆಫನನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಇರಲು, ಅವನು ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ, “ಕರ್ತನಾದ, ಯೇಸುವೇ, ನನ್ನಾತ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೋ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿ,
60 And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And saying this, he fell asleep.
೬೦ಮೊಣಕಾಲೂರಿ, “ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಈ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊರಿಸಬೇಡವೆಂದು” ಮಹಾಶಬ್ದದಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿದನು. ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ನಿದ್ರೆಹೋದನು.
