Acts 7
1 And the high-priest said, Are then these things so?
Da fragte ihn der Hohepriester: "Ist dem so?"
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
Er antwortete: "Liebe Brüder und Väter, hört! Der Gott der Herrlichkeit ist unserem Vater Abraham in Mesopotamien erschienen, noch ehe er in Haran wohnte,
3 and said to him, “Go forth from thy country and thy kindred, and come into the land which I will show thee.”
und sprach zu ihm: 'Verlaß dein Vaterland und deine Verwandten und ziehe in das Land, das ich dir zeigen will!'
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran; and from thence, after his father was dead, he caused him to remove into this land wherein ye now dwell;
Darauf verließ er das Chaldäerland und nahm in Haran Wohnung. Von dort ließ ihn Gott nach seines Vaters Tod wandern in dies Land, wo ihr jetzt wohnt.
5 and he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on; and he promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
Doch gab er ihm darin nicht einen Fußbreit Erbteil. Aber er verhieß es ihm und seinen Nachkommen zum Besitz, obwohl Abraham noch keine Kinder hatte.
6 And God spoke in this manner: “That his posterity should sojourn in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage, and ill-treat them four hundred years;
Und zwar sprach Gott: 'Seine Nachkommen werden in einem fremden Land heimatlos sein, und man wird sie vierhundert Jahre knechten und plagen.
7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge,” said God; “and after that they shall come forth, and shall worship me in this place.”
Aber das Volk, dem sie dienen werden, will ich strafen', sprach Gott; 'dann sollen sie ausziehen und mir an dieser Stätte dienen'.
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
Darauf schloß Gott mit Abraham einen Bund, dessen Zeichen die Beschneidung war. So wurde Abraham der Vater Isaaks, den er am achten Tag beschnitt; Isaaks Sohn war Jakob, und Jakobs Söhne waren die zwölf Erzväter.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,
Die Erzväter aber verkauften Josef aus Neid nach Ägypten. Doch Gott war mit ihm:
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt, and all his house.
er errettete ihn aus allen seinen Trübsalen, verlieh ihm Weisheit und ließ ihn Gunst finden vor Pharao, dem König von Ägypten. Der setzte ihn als Gebieter über Ägypten und über sein ganzes Haus.
11 Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress; and our fathers found no Sustenance.
Da kam eine Hungersnot über ganz Ägyptenland und Kanaan; und das Elend war groß, daß unsere Väter keine Nahrung finden konnten.
12 But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers first.
Als nun Jakob hörte, in Ägypten sei Getreide zu haben, sandte er unsere Väter dorthin: das war ihre erste Reise.
13 And at the second time Joseph was recognized by his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
Bei ihrer zweiten Reise aber gab sich Josef seinen Brüdern zu erkennen: so erfuhr Pharao Josefs Herkunft.
14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls.
Dann ließ Josef seinen Vater Jakob und alle seine Blutsverwandten holen, im ganzen fünfundsiebzig Seelen.
15 And Jacob went down [[into Egypt]], and died, he and our fathers.
So zog Jakob nach Ägypten. Dort starben er und unsere Väter.
16 And they were removed to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
Man brachte sie nach Sichem und bestattete sie in dem Grab, das Abraham um Geld von den Söhnen Hemors in Sichem gekauft hatte.
17 But as the time of the promise drew near, which God solemnly made to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
Als aber die Zeit herankam, wo sich die Verheißung erfüllen sollte, die Gott dem Abraham gegeben hatte, da mehrte sich das Volk in Ägypten und ward sehr zahlreich.
18 until another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
Das dauerte so lange, bis sich ein fremder König, der Josef nicht gekannt hatte, zum Herrscher über Ägypten erhob.
19 The same dealt subtly with our race, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they should cast out their infants, that they might not be preserved alive.
Der war voll Arglist gegen unser Volk und bedrückte unsere Väter so entsetzlich, daß er sie zwang, ihre neugeborenen Kinder auszusetzen, damit sie nicht am Leben blieben.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair; who was nourished in his father's house three months.
In der Zeit wurde Mose geboren: ein wunderbar schönes Kind. Der ward drei Monate lang in seines Vaters Haus aufgezogen.
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for herself as a son.
Dann setzte man ihn aus. Aber Pharaos Tochter nahm ihn an Kindes Statt an und erzog ihn wie ihren eigenen Sohn.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his worlds and deeds.
So wurde Mose in aller Weisheit der Ägypter unterrichtet, und durch seine Rede und seine Taten war er ein einflußreicher Mann.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
Als er vierzig Jahre alt war, kam es ihm in den Sinn, sich nach seinen Brüdern, den Kindern Israel, umzusehen.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed by smiting the Egyptian.
Da war er Zeuge, wie einer von ihnen ungerecht behandelt wurde. Für den trat er ein und rächte seine Mißhandlung, indem er den Ägypter erschlug.
25 For he supposed his brethren would understand that God through his hand would give them salvation; but they understood not.
Er glaubte aber, seine Brüder würden erkennen, daß ihnen Gott durch seine Hand Befreiung bringen wolle. Doch sie erkannten es nicht.
26 And the next day he showed himself to them as they were contending, and urged them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one another?
Am folgenden Tag sah er, wie sich zwei von ihnen stritten. Da wollte er Frieden zwischen ihnen stiften und sprach: 'Ihr seid doch Stammesbrüder; warum tut ihr denn einander unrecht?'
27 But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
Aber der Mann, der seinen Nächsten schlug, wies ihn zurück und sagte: 'Wer hat dich zum Oberhaupt und Richter über uns gesetzt?
28 Dost thou mean to kill me, as thou didst kill the Egyptian yesterday?”
Möchtest du mich auch töten, wie du gestern den Ägypter getötet hast?'
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
Das Wort erschreckte Mose, und er flüchtete. Er lebte als Fremdling in dem Lande Midian, wo er zwei Söhne bekam.
30 And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the flaming fire of a bush.
Nach vierzig Jahren aber erschien ihm in der Wüste des Berges Sinai ein Engel in einer Feuerflamme in einem Dornbusch.
31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the sight; and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came [[to him]],
Als Mose das sah, wunderte er sich über die Erscheinung. Wie er nun hinzutrat, um sie näher zu betrachten, da rief die Stimme des Herrn:
32 saying, “I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” And Moses trembled and durst not behold.
'Ich bin der Gott deiner Väter, der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs.' Darüber war Mose so erschrocken, daß er nicht wagte, weiter hinzusehen.
33 And the Lord said to him, “Loose the sandals from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
Da sprach der Herr zu ihm: 'Ziehe deine Schuhe von deinen Füßen! Denn die Stätte, worauf du stehst, ist heiliges Land.
34 I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them; and now, come, I will send thee into Egypt.”
Ich habe das Elend deines Volkes in Ägypten gesehen und habe ihr Seufzen gehört; darum bin ich herabgekommen, um sie zu befreien. Komm nun her, ich will dich nach Ägypten senden!'
35 This Moses, whom they denied, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge?” this very man did God send both as a ruler and a redeemer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
Diesen Mose, den sie verleugnet hatten mit den Worten: 'Wer hat dich zum Oberhaupt und Richter eingesetzt?' — den hat Gott als Führer und Befreier gesandt, und der Engel, der ihm in dem Dornbusch erschienen war, begleitete ihn mit seiner Hilfe.
36 This very man brought them out, working wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Dieser Mose hat sie weggeführt und dabei Wunder und Zeichen getan in Ägypten und am Roten Meer, dann weiter vierzig Jahre in der Wüste.
37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, “A prophet will God raise up to you from among your brethren, as he raised up me.”
Dieser Mose hat den Kindern Israel gesagt: 'Einen Propheten wie mich wird Gott euch zum Heil aus eurer Brüder Kreis auftreten lassen.'
38 This is he that was in the assembly in the wilderness with the anger who spake to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received the living oracles to give to us;
Dieser Mose ist es, der bei der Volksversammlung in der Wüste mit dem Engel, der am Berg Sinai zu ihm geredet hatte, und mit unseren Vätern verkehrt hat. Er empfing Lebensworte, um sie uns mitzuteilen.
39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt,
Unsere Väter aber wollten ihm nicht gehorchen, sondern stießen ihn von sich und wandten sich mit ihrem Herzen nach Ägypten.
40 saying to Aaron, “Make us gods who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.”
Denn sie sprachen zu Aaron: 'Mache uns Götter, damit sie vor uns hergehen! Wir wissen ja nicht, was diesem Mose widerfahren ist, der uns aus Ägyptenland geführt hat.'
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
Sie machten damals einen Stier, brachten diesem Götzenbild Opfer dar und erfreuten sich an den Werken ihrer Hände.
42 But God turned away, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, “Did ye offer to me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Da wandte sich Gott ab von ihnen und gab sie preis, dem Himmelsheer zu dienen, wie in dem Buch der Propheten geschrieben steht: Habt ihr mir denn Schlachtopfer und Speisopfer dargebracht dort in der Wüste vierzig Jahre lang, ihr vom Haus Israel?
43 And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, the figures which ye made to worship them; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.”
Nein, ihr habt vielmehr das Zelt des Molochs mitgeführt und das Sternbild eures Gottes Rephan — die Götzenbilder, die ihr selbst gemacht habt, um sie zu verehren. Zur Strafe dafür will ich euch wegführen lassen, noch über Babylon hinaus!
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
Unsere Väter hatten in der Wüste das Zelt des Zeugnisses. Das war erbaut nach dem Befehl dessen, der Mose geboten hatte, es nach dem Bild herzustellen, das er gesehen.
45 which also our fathers received and brought in with Joshua, at their taking possession of the gentiles whom God drove out from before our fathers, until the days of David;
Dieses Zelt ging dann über auf das folgende Geschlecht, und unter Josua führten es unsere Väter mit hinein (nach Kanaan), als sie das Land der Heiden in Besitz nahmen, die Gott vor ihnen vertrieb. So blieb es mit dem Zelt bis zu den Tagen Davids.
46 who found favor before God, and asked that he might find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
Der fand Gnade vor Gott, und darum bat er ihn, dem Gott Jakobs eine Wohnstatt errichten zu dürfen.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
Aber erst Salomo erbaute ihm ein Haus.
48 Yet the Most High dwelleth not in [[temples]] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
Doch der Höchste wohnt nicht in Gebäuden von Menschenhand, wie der Prophet spricht:
49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will ye build for me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
Der Himmel ist mein Thron, und die Erde ist der Schemel meiner Füße. Was für ein Haus wollt ihr mir da bauen, spricht der Herr, oder an welcher Stätte soll ich ruhen?
50 Did not my hands make all these things?”
Hat meine Hand nicht alles dies geschaffen?
51 Stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears! ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
Ihr Halsstarrigen, die ihr an Herz und Ohren unbeschnitten seid! Ebenso wie eure Väter widersteht auch ihr fort und fort dem Heiligen Geist.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they slew those who foretold the coming of the righteous one, of whom ye have now become the betrayers and murderers;
Wen von den Propheten haben eure Väter nicht verfolgt! Hingemordet haben sie alle, die das Kommen des Gerechten vorausverkündigt haben. Seine Verräter und Mörder seid ihr jetzt geworden!
53 ye who received the Law as ordained through angels, and did not keep it.
Ihr habt das Gesetzt, weil es durch Engel verordnet wurde, angenommen; aber ihr habt es nicht gehalten...!"
54 But when they heard these things, their hearts were filled with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
Als sie dies hörten, wurden sie in ihrem Herzen mit Wut erfüllt, und sie knirschten mit den Zähnen gegen ihn.
55 But, being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up earnestly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Er aber blickte voll Heiligen Geistes zum Himmel auf und sah Gottes Herrlichkeit und Jesus zur Rechten Gottes stehen. Da rief er: "Ich sehe jetzt den Himmel offen und den Menschensohn zur Rechten Gottes stehen!"
56 and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Sie aber schrien laut auf, hielten sich die Ohren zu, stürmten wie ein Mann auf ihn los, schleiften ihn zur Stadt hinaus und steinigten ihn.
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
Die Zeugen legten ihre Oberkleider ab und gaben sie einem Jüngling, mit Namen Saulus, in Verwahrung.
58 and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul;
59 and they stoned Stephen, making supplication, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And saying this, he fell asleep.
