1 But in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said, It doth not seem to us proper, that we should leave the word of God, and provide for tables.

5 And what was said pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch,

11 Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him to the council,

15 And all that sat in the council, looking steadily upon him, saw his face like the face of an angel.
