Acts 4

1 And while they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

ପିତର ଏବଂ ଯୋହନ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ କଥା କହୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଯାଜକମାନେ, ମନ୍ଦିର ସେନାପତି ଓ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ;

2 being indignant that they taught the people, and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

ସେମାନେ ବିରକ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ, କାରଣ ପ୍ରେରିତମାନେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଉଥିଲେ ଓ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ କଥା ଧରି ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ବିଷୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁଥିଲେ।

3 And they laid hands upon them, and put them in prison until the next day; for it was now evening.

ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ଧରି ପରଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କାରାଗାରରେ ରଖିଲେ, କାରଣ ସେତେବେଳେ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ହୋଇଥିଲା।

4 Many however of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men became five thousand.

ତଥାପି ବାକ୍ୟ ଶୁଣିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ, ଆଉ ପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କର ସଂଖ୍ୟା ପ୍ରାୟ ପାଞ୍ଚ ହଜାର ହେଲା।

5 And it came to pass on the next day, that their rulers and elders and scribes,

ପରଦିନ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ, ପ୍ରାଚୀନ ଓ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ଏକତ୍ରିତ ହେଲେ;

6 and Annas the high-priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high-priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

ସେଠାରେ ମହାଯାଜକ ହାନାନ, କୟାଫା, ଯୋହନ, ଆଲେକ୍‌ଜାଣ୍ଡର, ପୁଣି, ମହାଯାଜକୀୟ ବଂଶର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଥିଲେ।

7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, did ye do this?

ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରେରିତମାନଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଠିଆ କରାଇ ପଚାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, କି ଶକ୍ତିରେ ବା କେଉଁ ନାମରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହା କରିଅଛ?

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel!

ସେଥିରେ ପିତର ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ହେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଓ ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନେ,

9 If we are this day examined in respect to a good deed done to a cripple, by what means he hath been restored,

ଆଜି ଯଦି ଜଣେ ରୋଗୀ ପ୍ରତି କରାଯାଇଥିବା ଉତ୍ତମ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଚରାଯାଏ ଯେ, ଏହି ଲୋକ କି ଉପାୟରେ ସୁସ୍ଥ ହୋଇଅଛି?

10 be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, —by him doth this man stand here before you sound.

ତାହାହେଲେ ଆପଣମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକ ଜ୍ଞାତ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ ଯେ, ଯେଉଁ ନାଜରିତୀୟ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣମାନେ କ୍ରୁଶରେ ବଧ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ଯାହାଙ୍କୁ ଈଶ୍ବର ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉଠାଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହାଙ୍କ ନାମରେ, ହଁ, ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଏହି ଲୋକଟି ସୁସ୍ଥ ହୋଇ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଅଛି।

11 This is the stone which was set at nought by you the builders, which is become a cornerstone.

“‘ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମାଣକାରୀ ଯେ ଆପଣମାନେ, ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯେଉଁ ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ଅଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ ହୋଇଥିଲା, ଯାହା କୋଣର ପ୍ରଧାନ ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ହେଲା, ସେ ସେହି ପ୍ରସ୍ତର।’

12 And there is salvation in no other; for there is not another name under heaven, that hath been given among men, by which we must be saved.

ତାହାଙ୍କ ଛଡ଼ା ଆଉ କାହାଠାରେ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ଯାହା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ପାଇବାକୁ ହେବ, ଆକାଶ ତଳେ ମନୁଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆଉ କୌଣସି ନାମ ଦିଆଯାଇ ନାହିଁ।”

13 And when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and common men, they wondered; and they recognized them as having been with Jesus.

ସେମାନେ ପିତର ଓ ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ସାହସ ଦେଖି ଏବଂ ସେମାନେ ଯେ ଅଶିକ୍ଷିତ ଓ ଅଜ୍ଞାନ ଲୋକ, ଏହା ବୁଝି ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟ ହେଲେ, ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଥିଲେ ବୋଲି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚିହ୍ନିଲେ,

14 And seeing the man that had been cured standing with them, they could say nothing in reply.

ଆଉ ସେହି ସୁସ୍ଥ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲୋକଟି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବାର ଦେଖି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କିଛି କହି ପାରିଲେ ନାହିଁ।

15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

ପରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସଭାରୁ ବାହାରିଯିବାକୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇ ସେମାନେ ପରସ୍ପର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପରାମର୍ଶ କରି କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ ଏହି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି କଅଣ କରିବା?

16 saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a remarkable sign hath been wrought by them is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

କାରଣ ଏମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯେ, ଗୋଟିଏ ମହା ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ମ ସାଧିତ ହୋଇଅଛି ଏହା ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରନିବାସୀ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୋଇଅଛି, ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହା ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରି ନ ପାରୁ;

17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us strictly forbid them with threats to speak any longer in this name to any one.

କିନ୍ତୁ ଏ କଥାଟା ଯେପରି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆହୁରି ଅଧିକ ବ୍ୟାପି ନ ଯାଏ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଏହି ନାମରେ କୌଣସି ଲୋକକୁ ଆଉ କିଛି ନ କହିବାକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ ଦେଖାଇବା।

18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all, nor teach, in the name of Jesus.

ପରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ଆଦୌ କଥା ନ କହିବାକୁ ବା ଶିକ୍ଷା ନ ଦେବାକୁ ଦୃଢ଼ରୂପେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅାଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ।

19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye.

କିନ୍ତୁ ପିତର ଓ ଯୋହନ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣିବା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣିବା ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଯଥାର୍ଥ କି ନା, ତାହା ଆପଣମାନେ ବିଚାର କରନ୍ତୁ

20 For we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard.

କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯାହା ଯାହା ଦେଖିଅଛୁ ଓ ଶୁଣିଅଛୁ, ସେହିସବୁ ନ କହି ରହି ନ ପାରୁ।

21 So, having further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, on account of the people; because all were glorifying God for that which had been done.

ସେଥିରେ ସେମାନେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ହେତୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେବାର କୌଣସି ବାଟ ନ ପାଇବାରୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅଧିକ ଭୟ ଦେଖାଇ ଛାଡ଼ିଦେଲେ, ଯେଣୁ ଯାହା ଘଟିଥିଲା, ସେଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ଲୋକ ସମସ୍ତେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ମହିମା କୀର୍ତ୍ତନ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ,

22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this sign of the healing had been wrought.

କାରଣ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକଠାରେ ସେହି ସୁସ୍ଥତାର ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ମ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା, ତାହାର ବୟସ ଚାଳିଶ ବର୍ଷରୁ ଊର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱ ଥିଲା।

23 And being released they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନେ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇ ଆପଣା ସଙ୍ଗୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଗଲେ ଏବଂ ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକ ଓ ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯାହା ଯାହା କହିଥିଲେ, ସେହିସବୁ ଜଣାଇଲେ।

24 And on hearing it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art he that made heaven and earth and sea, and all things that are in them;

ସେମାନେ ତାହା ଶୁଣି ଏକଚିତ୍ତରେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରି କହିଲେ, ହେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆକାଶ, ପୃଥିବୀ, ସମୁଦ୍ର ଏବଂ ସେ ସବୁ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଅଛ।

25 who by the mouth of thy servant David said, “Why did the heathen rage, and the peoples meditate vain things?

ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଦାସ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତା ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ମୁଖ ଦେଇ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଏହି କଥା କହିଅଛ, “‘ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ କାହିଁକି କଳହ କଲେ, ଆଉ ଲୋକମାନେ କାହିଁକି ଅନର୍ଥକ ବିଷୟ କଳ୍ପନା କଲେ?

26 The kings of the earth came up, and the rulers assembled together, against the Lord, and against his Anointed.”

ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ, ପୃଥିବୀର ରାଜାମାନେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତାମାନେ ଏକତ୍ର ହେଲେ।’

27 For in truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, did both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles, and the peoples of Israel, assemble in this city,

କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଯେଉଁ ପବିତ୍ର ଦାସ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଅଭିଷିକ୍ତ କଲ, ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ହେରୋଦ ଏବଂ ପନ୍ତିୟ ପୀଲାତ ଉଭୟ ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀ ଓ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଏହି ନଗରରେ,

28 to do whatever thy hand and thy will before determined to be done.

ତୁମ୍ଭର ସଂକଳ୍ପ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯେ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଘଟିବ ବୋଲି ପୂର୍ବରୁ ନିରୂପିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା, ତାହା କରିବାକୁ ଏକତ୍ର ହେଲେ।

29 And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to thy servants that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

ଆଉ ଏବେ, ହେ ପ୍ରଭୁ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ତର୍ଜନଗର୍ଜନ ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଷ୍ଟିପାତ କର; ପୁଣି, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସାହସ ସହ ତୁମ୍ଭର ବାକ୍ୟ କହିବାକୁ ଶକ୍ତି ଦିଅ,

30 while thou stretchest forth thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders are wrought through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.

ଆଉ ସେଥି ସଙ୍ଗେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପବିତ୍ର ଦାସ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ସୁସ୍ଥ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏବଂ ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଓ ଅଦ୍ଭୁତ କର୍ମମାନ ସାଧନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ହସ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାର କର।”

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କଲା ଉତ୍ତାରେ, ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଏକତ୍ର ହୋଇଥିଲେ, ତାହା କମ୍ପି ଉଠିଲା, ପୁଣି, ସମସ୍ତେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ ହୋଇ, ସାହସରେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।

32 And the multitude of those who believed were of one heart, and of one soul; and not one of them said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

ବିଶ୍ୱାସକାରୀ ଲୋକସମୂହ ଏକଚିତ୍ତ ଓ ଏକପ୍ରାଣ ଥିଲେ; ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହିହେଲେ ଆପଣା ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କିଛି ନିଜର ବୋଲି କହୁ ନ ଥିଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ସାଧାରଣ ଥିଲା।

33 And with great power did the apostles give their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus; and great grace was upon them all.

ପ୍ରେରିତମାନେ ମହାଶକ୍ତି ସହିତ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ ବିଷୟରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ପୁଣି, ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ମହା ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଥିଲା।

34 For there was no one among them that was in want; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

ଯେଣୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କାହାରି କୌଣସି ଅଭାବ ନ ଥିଲା, କାରଣ ଯେତେ ଲୋକଙ୍କର ଭୂମି ବା ଗୃହ ଥିଲା, ସେମାନେ ତାହା ବିକ୍ରୟ କରି ବିକ୍ରୀତ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତିର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ଆଣି ପ୍ରେରିତମାନଙ୍କର ପାଦ ତଳେ ରଖୁଥିଲେ,

35 and laid them at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.

ଆଉ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଜଣକୁ ତାହାର ଅଭାବ ଅନୁସାରେ ତାହା ବିତରଣ କରାଯାଉଥିଲା।

36 And Joseph, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, when interpreted, Son of consolation, ) a Levite, born in Cyprus,

ପୁଣି, ଯୋଷେଫ, ସାଇପ୍ରସ୍ ଦ୍ବୀପରୁ ଲେବୀ ବଂଶଜାତ ଜଣେ ଲୋକ, ଯାହାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରେରିତମାନେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣବ୍ବା ବୋଲି ଉପନାମ ଦେଇଥିଲେ (ଅର୍ଥାତ୍‍ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନାର ପୁତ୍ର),

37 having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the feet of the apostles.

ତାଙ୍କର ଖଣ୍ଡେ କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଥିଲା; ସେ ତାହା ବିକ୍ରୟ କରି ସେଥିର ଟଙ୍କା ଆଣି ପ୍ରେରିତମାନଙ୍କର ପାଦ ତଳେ ଥୋଇଲେ।
