Acts 2
1 And on the day of Pentecost they were all together in one place.
Padesát dní po Velikonocích začaly Letnice, svátek vděčnosti za úrodu. Kristovi následovníci se opět shromáždili.
2 And suddenly there came out of heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind; and it filled the whole house where they were sitting;
Náhle se ozval zvláštní zvuk, jako by celým domem zavanul silný vítr.
3 and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributing themselves; and one sat upon each of them.
Tu se jim objevil plápolající oheň, který se rozdělil a hořel nad každým z nich.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.
A všichni byli naplněni Duchem svatým. Projevilo se to tím, že získali schopnost mluvit cizími jazyky, které předtím neovládali.
5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
V Jeruzalémě byli na svátky zbožní židé, kteří jinak žili mimo Palestinu v různých zemích a s různými národy.
6 And when this sound took place, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every one heard them speaking in his own language.
Ten zvláštní zvuk přilákal zástup těchto poutníků a oni teď naslouchali učedníkům. Přitom každý slyšel, že učedníci mluví jeho rodným jazykem.
7 And they were amazed, and marveled, saying, Behold, are not all these who speak Galilaeans?
To je velice překvapilo a vzrušeně o tom hovořili: „Vždyť je známe, to jsou přece samí prostí Galilejci!
8 and how is it that we every one hear them in our own language, wherein we were born?
A každý z nás je slyší ve svém rodném jazyce! Mluví o tom, že Bůh udělal něco velikého.“
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Mezi posluchači byli Partové, Médové, Elamité, Mezopotámci, Judejci, lidé z Kapadokie, od Černého moře a z Malé Asie,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and Romans who sojourn here, both Jews and Proselytes,
z Frýgie, Pamfýlie, z Egypta, Libye, z Říma, Kréty i Arábie,
11 Cretans and Arabians—how is it that we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God?
rození židé i na židovskou víru obrácení pohané.
12 And they were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What can this mean?
Ptali se mezi sebou: „Co se to děje?“
13 Others making sport of it, said, They are full of new wine.
Ale někteří se tomu smáli a říkali: „Vždyť jsou opilí!“
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Men of Judea, and all that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words.
Tu vystoupilo dvanáct apoštolů do popředí a Petr promluvil k zástupu: „Židé a vy všichni, kteří jste právě v Jeruzalémě! Vysvětlím vám, co se zde děje, ale prosím vás o pozornost.
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; for it is the third hour of the day;
Určitě nejsme opilí, jak se nám někteří posmívají. Vždyť je teprve devět hodin, doba ranních modliteb.
16 but this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel,
Tady se však plní, co předpověděl prorok Jóel:
17 “It shall be in the last days, saith God, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams;
‚Bůh říká: V posledních dnech sešlu svého Ducha na lidi, vaši synové a dcery budou prorokovat, mladí budou mít vidění a staří významné sny.
18 and even on my servants, and on my handmaids, I will pour out of my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
Moji služebníci a služebnice dostanou mého Ducha a stanou se proroky.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
Na obloze i na zemi se objeví zvláštní úkazy, krev, oheň a sloupy dýmu,
20 the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord cometh, the great and notable day.
slunce se zatmí a měsíc zrudne. To bude znamením, že Pán přichází soudit všechny lidi.
21 And it shall be that every one that calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Jenom ten, kdo ho uznává svým Pánem, bude zachráněn.‘
22 Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God to you by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God wrought by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves know, —
Izraelci, poslyšte! Žil tady mezi vámi Ježíš z Nazaretu, muž, kterému dal Bůh moc činit zázraky a znamení; mnozí z vás by to mohli dosvědčit. A tohoto muže jste se vy zmocnili a zabili jste ho na kříži rukama pohanů. Tím jste vlastně jen splnili Boží úmysl.
23 this man, being delivered up by the settled purpose and foreknowledge of God, ye, by the hand of godless men, crucified and slew.
24 But God raised him up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it.
Bůh však vyrval Ježíše z moci smrti, která ho nemohla udržet, a vzkřísil ho z mrtvých.
25 For David saith concerning him, “I saw the Lord always before me; because he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.
To o něm zpívá David v žalmu: ‚Pána mám neustále před očima, stojí při mně, a tak nezakolísám.
26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue exulted; moreover also, my flesh shall dwell in hope;
Proto se mé srdce raduje, moje ústa zpívají, vždyť i pro mé mrtvé tělo zůstává naděje.
27 because thou wilt not abandon my soul to the underworld, nor wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
Ty mne nenecháš mezi mrtvými, nedopustíš, aby tělo tvého vyvoleného podlehlo zkáze. (Hadēs g86)
28 Thou didst make known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of joy with thy countenance.”
Povedeš mne cestou života a dáš mi, abych se radoval u tebe.‘
29 Brethren, I may speak to you with freedom of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us to this day.
Je nám všem jasné, že dávný král David zemřel, byl pochován a jeho hrob je tady až dodnes.
30 Being then a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath that he would set one sprung from his loins upon his throne,
Nemluvil tedy o sobě, ale prorokoval to o Mesiáši, který podle Božího slibu měl být Davidovým potomkem.
31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that neither was he abandoned to the underworld, nor did his flesh see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
A tak když říkal, že nezůstane mezi mrtvými a jeho tělo nepodlehne zkáze, viděl vlastně dopředu Kristovo vzkříšení z mrtvých. (Hadēs g86)
32 This Jesus God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Ano, právě Ježíše Bůh vzkřísil a my všichni to můžeme dosvědčit.
33 Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he hath poured forth this, which ye both see and hear.
Nyní je na nebesích po Boží pravici a má právo dávat svatého Ducha. Všechno to zvláštní, co vidíte a slyšíte, pochází od něho.
34 For David did not ascend into the heavens; but he himself saith, The Lord said to my lord, “Sit thou on my right hand,
A zase David nemluvil o sobě, když napsal: ‚Bůh řekl mému Pánu: Seď po mé pravici, až ti všechny nepřátele položím k nohám.‘
35 until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified.
Ať tedy ví každý Izraelec: Toho Ježíše, kterého jste ukřižovali, toho poslal Bůh jako Pána a Mesiáše!“
37 And when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what must we do?
Petrova slova zasáhla mnoho posluchačů a ti se začali ptát apoštolů: „Bratři, co máme dělat?“
38 But Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized to the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
„Litujte svých hříchů, “volal Petr, „vyznávejte je a na znamení Božího odpuštění přijměte křest, který Ježíš Kristu určil pro své následovníky. Také vy dostanete Ducha svatého.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Vždyť ten prorocký slib platí vám, vašim dětem, a dokonce lidem po celém světě, které si Pán Bůh zavolá.“
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation.
A ještě jim říkal mnoho dalších věcí a radil jim naléhavě: „Nemějte už nic společného s těmi, kteří se postavili proti Mesiáši!“
41 They therefore received his word, and were baptized; and there were added on that day about three thousand souls.
Ti, kteří Petra poslechli, byli nakonec pokřtěni. Toho dne se připojilo k Ježíšovým následovníkům okolo tří tisíc lidí.
42 And they were constantly attending on the teaching of the apostles, and the imparting [[of their substance]], the breaking of bread, and the prayers.
Všichni chtěli slyšet od apoštolů ještě více, bývali rádi pohromadě, společně stolovali, lámali chléb na památku Kristovy poslední večeře a modlili se.
43 And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were wrought through the apostles.
Apoštolové činili mnoho mocných činů a divů, takže každý cítil, že tu působí Bůh.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Věřící vytvořili pospolitost, ve které se o všechno dělili a dokonce majetek měli společný.
45 and they sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as any one had need.
Zámožní mezi nimi prodávali své nemovitosti a výtěžek dělili mezi všechny, jak kdo potřeboval.
46 And attending daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread in a private house, they partook of their food with gladness and singleness of heart,
Všichni se společně shromažďovali každý den v jeruzalémském chrámu. V menších skupinách se pak scházeli po domech a jedli společně, s radostí a upřímností.
47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were in the way of salvation.
Svou vděčnost Bohu vyjadřovali modlitbami a zpěvem, a kdo to slyšel, tomu se to líbilo. Pán jim denně přidával další, kteří uvěřili a byli zachráněni.
