Acts 10
1 Now a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
A w Cezarei był pewien człowiek imieniem Korneliusz, setnik z oddziału zwanego Italskim;
2 a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and praying to God always,
Pobożny i bojący się Boga wraz z całym swoim domem. Dawał on wielkie jałmużny ludowi i zawsze modlił się do Boga.
3 saw in a vision plainly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius!
Około dziewiątej godziny dnia ujrzał wyraźnie w widzeniu anioła Boga, który przyszedł do niego i powiedział: Korneliuszu!
4 And he, looking steadily at him, and becoming affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have come up for a memorial before God.
A on uważnie patrzył na niego i będąc przestraszonym, zapytał: Co, Panie? I odpowiedział mu: Twoje modlitwy i jałmużny dotarły przed oblicze Boga jako przypomnienie.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, who is surnamed Peter;
Dlatego teraz poślij mężczyzn do Jafy i sprowadź Szymona, zwanego Piotrem.
6 he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside.
Zatrzymał się on u pewnego Szymona, garbarza, który ma dom nad morzem. On ci powie, co masz robić.
7 And when the angel that spoke to him had departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of those who waited on him,
A gdy anioł, który mówił z Korneliuszem, odszedł, [ten] zawołał dwóch swoich sług i pobożnego żołnierza spośród tych, którzy stale mu posługiwali;
8 and having told them every thing sent them to Joppa.
I opowiedziawszy im wszystko, posłał ich do Jafy.
9 On the morrow, as they were on their journey, and were drawing near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
A nazajutrz, gdy byli w drodze i zbliżali się do miasta, około godziny szóstej Piotr wszedł na dach, aby się modlić.
10 And he became very hungry and wished to eat; but while they were making ready, a trance came upon him,
A będąc głodnym, chciał [coś] zjeść. Gdy zaś przygotowywano [mu posiłek], wpadł w zachwycenie.
11 and he beheld heaven opened, and a sort of vessel descending, as it were a large sheet having cords at the four corners, and let down upon the earth;
Zobaczył otwarte niebo i zstępujący na niego jakiś przedmiot, podobny do wielkiego płótna, związany [ze sobą] czterema końcami i spuszczany ku ziemi.
12 wherein were all the four-footed beasts and creeping things of the earth, and birds of the air.
Były w nim wszelkie czworonożne [zwierzęta] ziemskie, bestie, gady i ptaki nieba.
13 And there came a voice to him, Arise, Peter; slay, and eat.
I odezwał się do niego głos: Wstań, Piotrze, zabijaj i jedz.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything common and unclean.
A Piotr odpowiedział: Żadną miarą, Panie, bo nigdy nie jadłem niczego pospolitego lub nieczystego.
15 And a voice came to him again, the second time, That which God hath cleansed, call not thou common.
Wtedy znowu, po raz drugi dobiegł go głos: Tego, co Bóg oczyścił, ty nie uważaj za nieczyste.
16 This was done three times; and the vessel was immediately taken up into heaven.
I stało się tak trzy razy. Wówczas ten przedmiot został z powrotem wzięty do nieba.
17 Now, while Peter was doubting within himself what the vision which he had seen meant, lo! the men who were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate;
A gdy Piotr zastanawiał się, co ma oznaczać widzenie, które miał, oto mężczyźni wysłani przez Korneliusza, dopytawszy się o dom Szymona, stanęli przed bramą;
18 and they called, and asked whether Simon, surnamed Peter, lodged there.
I zawołali, pytając, czy tam przebywa Szymon, zwany Piotrem.
19 And while Peter was meditating on the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, men are seeking thee;
A gdy Piotr rozmyślał o tym widzeniu, powiedział do niego Duch: Szukają cię trzej mężczyźni.
20 but arise, and go down, and go with them, without scruple; for I have sent them.
Dlatego wstań, zejdź i idź z nimi bez wahania, bo ja ich posłałem.
21 And Peter went down to the men and said, Behold, I am he whom ye are seeking; for what cause have ye come?
Wtedy Piotr zszedł do mężczyzn, którzy zostali do niego posłani przez Korneliusza, i powiedział: Ja jestem tym, którego szukacie. Z jakiego powodu przyszliście?
22 And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and to hear words from thee.
A oni odpowiedzieli: Setnik Korneliusz, człowiek sprawiedliwy i bojący się Boga, mający dobre świadectwo od całego narodu żydowskiego, w widzeniu otrzymał przez świętego anioła polecenie, aby cię wezwał do swego domu i wysłuchał twoich słów.
23 Then he called them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
Wtedy zawołał ich do domu i udzielił gościny. A następnego dnia Piotr wyruszył z nimi i niektórzy bracia z Jafy towarzyszyli mu.
24 And the morrow after, he came into Caesarea. And Cornelius was expecting them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
A nazajutrz weszli do Cezarei. Korneliusz zaś czekał na nich, zwoławszy swoich krewnych i bliskich przyjaciół.
25 And as Peter came in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and did him reverence.
A gdy Piotr wchodził, Korneliusz wyszedł mu naprzeciw, padł mu do nóg i oddał [mu] pokłon.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
Lecz Piotr podniósł go, mówiąc: Wstań, ja też jestem człowiekiem.
27 And while talking with him, he went in, and found many who had come together.
A rozmawiając z nim, wszedł i zastał wielu zebranych.
28 And he said to them, Ye know that it is an unlawful thing for a Jew to keep company with one of another nation, or to come near him; but God showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
I powiedział do nich: Wiecie, że nie wolno Żydowi przestawać z cudzoziemcem albo przychodzić do niego. Lecz Bóg mi pokazał, żebym żadnego człowieka nie nazywał pospolitym lub nieczystym.
29 Wherefore I came without objection, when sent for. I ask therefore, for what reason did ye send for me?
Dlatego też, będąc wezwany, przyszedłem bez sprzeciwu. Pytam więc: Dlaczego mnie wezwaliście?
30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago, I was fasting till this hour; and at the ninth hour was praying in my house; and lo! a man stood before me in bright clothing,
A Korneliusz odpowiedział: Cztery dni temu pościłem aż do tej godziny, a gdy o godzinie dziewiątej modliłem się w swoim domu, stanął przede mną [pewien] mąż w jasnej szacie;
31 and said, Cornelius, thy prayer hath been heard, and thine alms have been remembered before God.
I powiedział: Korneliuszu, twoja modlitwa została wysłuchana, a twoje jałmużny dotarły przed oblicze Boga jako przypomnienie.
32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea-side; and he, when he cometh, will speak to thee.
Dlatego poślij do Jafy i wezwij Szymona, zwanego Piotrem. Zatrzymał się on w domu Szymona, garbarza, nad morzem. Gdy przyjdzie, będzie z tobą mówić.
33 I therefore sent to thee immediately; and thou hast done well in coming here. Now therefore we are all present before God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee from the Lord.
Natychmiast więc posłałem po ciebie, a ty dobrze zrobiłeś, że przyszedłeś. A teraz jesteśmy [tu] wszyscy obecni przed Bogiem, aby słuchać wszystkiego, co ci Bóg nakazał.
34 And Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is not a respecter of persons,
Wtedy Piotr otworzył usta i powiedział: Prawdziwie dostrzegam, że Bóg nie ma względu na osoby;
35 but in every nation he that feareth him and worketh righteousness is acceptable to him—
Ale w każdym narodzie miły jest mu ten, kto się go boi i czyni to, co sprawiedliwe.
36 the word which he sent to the sons of Israel, publishing glad tidings of peace through Jesus Christ; he is Lord of all men.
[A jeśli chodzi o] słowo, które posłał synom Izraela, zwiastując pokój przez Jezusa Chrystusa, który jest Panem wszystkich;
37 Ye yourselves know what was spoken of through the whole of Judaea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached,
Wy wiecie, co się działo w całej Judei, począwszy od Galilei, po chrzcie, który głosił Jan;
38 relating to Jesus of Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were overpowered by the Devil; for God was with him.
Jak Bóg namaścił Duchem Świętym i mocą Jezusa z Nazaretu, który chodził, czyniąc dobrze i uzdrawiając wszystkich opanowanych przez diabła, bo Bóg był z nim.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also slew by hanging him on a cross.
A my jesteśmy świadkami tego wszystkiego, co czynił w ziemi judzkiej i w Jerozolimie. Jego to zabili, zawiesiwszy na drzewie.
40 Him God raised up on the third day, and caused him to be manifested,
Jego [też] wskrzesił Bóg trzeciego dnia i sprawił, żeby się objawił;
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses before appointed by God, to ourselves, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead;
Nie całemu ludowi, ale świadkom przedtem wybranym przez Boga, nam, którzy z nim jedliśmy i piliśmy po jego zmartwychwstaniu.
42 and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who hath been appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
Nakazał nam też głosić ludowi i świadczyć, że on jest ustanowionym przez Boga sędzią żywych i umarłych.
43 To him all the prophets bear witness, that through his name every one that believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins.
Temu wszyscy prorocy wydają świadectwo, że przez jego imię każdy, kto w niego wierzy, otrzyma przebaczenie grzechów.
44 While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all that heard the word.
A gdy jeszcze Piotr mówił te słowa, Duch Święty zstąpił na wszystkich słuchających tej mowy.
45 And those of the circumcision who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished that on the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit;
I zdziwili się ci wierzący pochodzący z obrzezania, którzy przyszli z Piotrem, że dar Ducha Świętego został wylany także na pogan.
46 for they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Then answered Peter,
Słyszeli ich bowiem mówiących językami i wielbiących Boga. Wtedy Piotr się odezwał:
47 Can any one forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit even as we have?
Czy ktoś może odmówić wody, żeby byli ochrzczeni ci, którzy otrzymali Ducha Świętego jak i my?
48 And he commanded that they should be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they entreated him to remain some days.
I nakazał ochrzcić ich w imię Pana. I prosili go, aby [u nich] został kilka dni.
