Acts 10
1 Now a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and praying to God always,
eqotho lemesabayo uNkulunkulu kanye lendlu yayo yonke, eyenza imisebenzi yomusa eminengi ebantwini, ikhuleka njalonjalo kuNkulunkulu;
3 saw in a vision plainly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius!
yabona embonweni ngokucacileyo, ngokungaba lihola lesificamunwemunye losuku, ingilosi kaNkulunkulu ingena kuyo, yasisithi kuyo: Korneliyu!
4 And he, looking steadily at him, and becoming affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have come up for a memorial before God.
Waseyijolozela efikelwa yikwesaba wathi: Kuyini, Nkosi? Yasisithi kuye: Imikhuleko yakho lezipho zakho kubayanga kwenyuke kwaba yisikhumbuzo phambi kukaNkulunkulu.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, who is surnamed Peter;
Khathesi-ke thuma amadoda eJopha, ubize uSimoni othiwa futhi nguPetro;
6 he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside.
yena ungenisile kuSimoni othile umtshuki wezikhumba, ondlu yakhe iselwandle; yena uzakutshela ofanele ukwenze.
7 And when the angel that spoke to him had departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of those who waited on him,
Kwathi ingilosi ebikhuluma loKorneliyu isihambile, wabiza ababili kwabendlu yakhe, lowebutho oqotho kulabo ababemlinda,
8 and having told them every thing sent them to Joppa.
njalo eselandisile konke kubo, wabathuma eJopha.
9 On the morrow, as they were on their journey, and were drawing near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
Njalo kusisa bona besahamba sebesondela emzini, uPetro wenyukela phezu kophahla lwendlu ukuyakhuleka, okungaba lihola lesithupha;
10 And he became very hungry and wished to eat; but while they were making ready, a trance came upon him,
waselamba kakhulu, wafuna ukudla; kwathi bona besamlungisela, ukuhlehliswa kwengqondo kwamehlela,
11 and he beheld heaven opened, and a sort of vessel descending, as it were a large sheet having cords at the four corners, and let down upon the earth;
wasebona izulu livulekile, lesitsha esithile sehlela kuye, njengelembu elikhulu, libotshwe ngamasondo amane, lisehliselwa emhlabeni;
12 wherein were all the four-footed beasts and creeping things of the earth, and birds of the air.
okwakukhona kulo izidalwa zonke ezilenyawo ezine zomhlaba lezeganga lezihuquzelayo lenyoni zezulu.
13 And there came a voice to him, Arise, Peter; slay, and eat.
Kwasekufika ilizwi kuye lathi: Sukuma, Petro, hlaba udle.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything common and unclean.
Kodwa uPetro wathi: Hatshi bo, Nkosi; ngoba kangizake ngidle loba yini engahlambulukanga kumbe engcolileyo.
15 And a voice came to him again, the second time, That which God hath cleansed, call not thou common.
Ilizwi laphinda ngokwesibili kuye: Izinto uNkulunkulu azihlambululileyo, wena ungatsho ukuthi kazihlambulukanga.
16 This was done three times; and the vessel was immediately taken up into heaven.
Njalo lokhu kwenzeka kwaze kwaba kathathu; lesitsha sabuya saphakanyiselwa ezulwini.
17 Now, while Peter was doubting within himself what the vision which he had seen meant, lo! the men who were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate;
Kwathi uPetro esadidekile ngaphakathi kwakhe ukuthi ngabe uyini umbono awubonileyo, njalo khangela, amadoda ayethunywe evela kuKorneliyu, esebuzile indlu kaSimoni, ema esangweni,
18 and they called, and asked whether Simon, surnamed Peter, lodged there.
esememezile abuza ukuthi uSimoni, othiwa futhi nguPetro, ungenisile lapha yini.
19 And while Peter was meditating on the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, men are seeking thee;
Kwathi uPetro esanakana ngombono, uMoya wathi kuye: Khangela, amadoda amathathu ayakudinga.
20 but arise, and go down, and go with them, without scruple; for I have sent them.
Ngakho sukuma wehle, uhambe lawo, ungathandabuzi; ngoba yimi engiwathumileyo.
21 And Peter went down to the men and said, Behold, I am he whom ye are seeking; for what cause have ye come?
UPetro wasesehlela emadodeni avela kuKorneliyu ayethunywe kuye, wathi: Khangelani, yimi elimdingayo; yisizatho bani elize ngaso?
22 And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and to hear words from thee.
Basebesithi: UKorneliyu induna yekhulu, indoda elungileyo lemesabayo uNkulunkulu, efakazelwa yisizwe sonke samaJuda, walayelwa nguNkulunkulu ngengilosi engcwele ukuthi akubizele endlini yakhe, njalo ezwe amazwi kuwe.
23 Then he called them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
Ngakho esebabizele phakathi wabangenisa. Njalo kusisa uPetro waphuma wahamba labo, labanye babazalwane ababeseJopha bahamba laye.
24 And the morrow after, he came into Caesarea. And Cornelius was expecting them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
Ngosuku olulandelayo basebengena eKesariya. LoKorneliyu wayebalindele, esebizele ndawonye izihlobo zakhe labangane abazwana laye.
25 And as Peter came in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and did him reverence.
Kwathi sekwenzakele ukuthi uPetro angene, uKorneliyu wamhlangabeza, ewela enyaweni zakhe, wamkhonza.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
Kodwa uPetro emphakamisa, wathi: Sukuma; lami ngokwami ngingumuntu.
27 And while talking with him, he went in, and found many who had come together.

28 And he said to them, Ye know that it is an unlawful thing for a Jew to keep company with one of another nation, or to come near him; but God showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
wasesithi kubo: Lina liyazi ukuthi kakuvunyelwa emuntwini ongumJuda ukuhlangana kumbe ukuya emuntwini wesinye isizwe; kodwa uNkulunkulu ungitshengisile ukuthi ngingabizi muntu ngokuthi kahlambulukanga kumbe ungcolile;
29 Wherefore I came without objection, when sent for. I ask therefore, for what reason did ye send for me?
ngakho-ke ngizile ngingaphikisanga nxa ngibizwa. Ngakho ngiyabuza, ukuthi ungibizele sizatho bani?
30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago, I was fasting till this hour; and at the ninth hour was praying in my house; and lo! a man stood before me in bright clothing,
UKorneliyu wasesithi: Ngensuku ezine ezidlulileyo kuze kube yilelihola ngangizila ukudla, ngehola lesificamunwemunye ngangikhuleka endlini yami; njalo khangela, indoda yema phambi kwami yembethe isembatho esikhazimulayo,
31 and said, Cornelius, thy prayer hath been heard, and thine alms have been remembered before God.
yasisithi: Korneliyu, umkhuleko wakho uzwakele, lemisebenzi yakho yomusa ikhunjulwe phambi kukaNkulunkulu.
32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea-side; and he, when he cometh, will speak to thee.
Ngakho thumela eJopha, ubusubiza uSimoni othiwa futhi nguPetro; yena ungenisile endlini kaSimoni umtshuki wezikhumba ngaselwandle; ozakuthi angabuya akutshele.
33 I therefore sent to thee immediately; and thou hast done well in coming here. Now therefore we are all present before God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee from the Lord.
Ngakho ngahle ngathumela kuwe; njalo wena wenze kuhle ukuthi ufike. Ngakho khathesi sesikhona sonke phambi kukaNkulunkulu ukuze sizwe konke okulayelwe nguNkulunkulu.
34 And Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is not a respecter of persons,
Kwathi uPetro evula umlomo, wathi: Ngeqiniso ngiyaqedisisa ukuthi uNkulunkulu kayisuye umkhangeli wobuso bomuntu;
35 but in every nation he that feareth him and worketh righteousness is acceptable to him—
kodwa kuso sonke isizwe yena omesabayo lowenza ukulunga, uyemukeleka kuye.
36 the word which he sent to the sons of Israel, publishing glad tidings of peace through Jesus Christ; he is Lord of all men.
Ilizwi alithumela kubantwana bakoIsrayeli, ngevangeli etshumayela ukuthula ngoJesu Kristu (yena uyiNkosi yabo bonke).
37 Ye yourselves know what was spoken of through the whole of Judaea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached,
Lina liyalazi ilizwi elamenyezelwa eJudiya yonke, kusukela eGalili, emva kobhabhathizo uJohane alutshumayelayo;
38 relating to Jesus of Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were overpowered by the Devil; for God was with him.
uJesu weNazaretha, ukuthi uNkulunkulu wamgcoba njani ngoMoya oNgcwele langamandla, owabhoda esenza okulungileyo njalo esilisa bonke labo abacindezelwe ngudiyabhola, ngoba uNkulunkulu wayelaye.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also slew by hanging him on a cross.
Lathi singabafakazi bezinto zonke azenzayo elizweni lamaJuda leJerusalema; abambulala bamphanyeka esihlahleni.
40 Him God raised up on the third day, and caused him to be manifested,
Yena uNkulunkulu wamvusa ngosuku lwesithathu, wasemnika ukuze abonakale,
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses before appointed by God, to ourselves, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead;
kungeyisikho kubo bonke abantu, kodwa kubafakazi ababekhethwe ngaphambili nguNkulunkulu, kithi, esadla sanatha kanye laye emva kokuvuka kwakhe kwabafileyo.
42 and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who hath been appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
Wasesilaya ukuthi sitshumayele ebantwini, sifakaze ukuthi nguye omiswe nguNkulunkulu ukuba nguMehluli wabaphilayo labafileyo.
43 To him all the prophets bear witness, that through his name every one that believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins.
Ngaye bonke abaprofethi bafakaza, ukuthi wonke okholwa kuye uzakwemukela uthethelelo lwezono ngebizo lakhe.
44 While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all that heard the word.
Kwathi uPetro esakhuluma lawomazwi, uMoya oyiNgcwele wehlela phezu kwabo bonke abalizwayo ilizwi.
45 And those of the circumcision who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished that on the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit;
Labokusoka abakholwayo basanganiseka, bonke ababefike loPetro, ukuthi isipho sikaMoya oNgcwele sathululelwa laphezu kwabezizwe;
46 for they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Then answered Peter,
ngoba babezwa bekhuluma ngendimi, bekhulisa uNkulunkulu. Khona uPetro waphendula wathi:
47 Can any one forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit even as we have?
Ukhona yini ongala lamanzi, ukuthi laba bangabhabhathizwa, abemukele uMoya oyiNgcwele lanjengathi?
48 And he commanded that they should be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they entreated him to remain some days.
Waselaya ukuthi babhabhathizwe ebizweni leNkosi. Basebemcela ukuthi ahlale insuku ezithile.
