Acts 1
1 The former narrative I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus both did and taught from the beginning
Τον μεν πρώτον λόγον έκαμον, ω Θεόφιλε, περί πάντων όσα ήρχισεν ο Ιησούς να κάμνη και να διδάσκη,
2 until the day in which, after he had through the Holy Spirit given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen, he was taken up;
μέχρι της ημέρας καθ' ην ανελήφθη, αφού διά Πνεύματος Αγίου έδωκεν εντολάς εις τους αποστόλους, τους οποίους εξέλεξεν·
3 to whom also he showed himself living, after he had suffered, by many sure proofs, appearing to them during forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
εις τους οποίους και εφανέρωσεν εαυτόν ζώντα μετά το πάθος αυτού διά πολλών τεκμηρίων, εμφανιζόμενος εις αυτούς τεσσαράκοντα ημέρας και λέγων τα περί της βασιλείας του Θεού.
4 And while in assembly with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for what had been promised by the Father, which [[said he]] ye heard from me;
Και συνερχόμενος μετ' αυτών, παρήγγειλε να μη απομακρυνθώσιν από Ιεροσολύμων, αλλά να περιμένωσι την επαγγελίαν του Πατρός, την οποίαν ηκούσατε, είπε, παρ' εμού.
5 for John indeed baptized with water, but ye will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.
Διότι ο μεν Ιωάννης εβάπτισεν εν ύδατι, σεις όμως θέλετε βαπτισθή εν Πνεύματι Αγίω ουχί μετά πολλάς ταύτας ημέρας.
6 They therefore, having come together, asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel?
Εκείνοι λοιπόν συνελθόντες ηρώτων αυτόν, λέγοντες· Κύριε, τάχα εν τω καιρώ τούτω αποκαθιστάνεις την βασιλείαν εις τον Ισραήλ;
7 But he said to them, It belongeth not to you to know times or seasons, which the Father appointed by his own authority.
Είπε δε προς αυτούς· Δεν ανήκει εις εσάς να γνωρίζητε τους χρόνους ή τους καιρούς, τους οποίους ο Πατήρ έθεσεν εν τη ιδία αυτού εξουσία,
8 But ye will receive power when the Holy Spirit hath come upon you; and ye will be my witnesses, both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
αλλά θέλετε λάβει δύναμιν, όταν επέλθη το Άγιον Πνεύμα εφ' υμάς, και θέλετε είσθαι εις εμέ μάρτυρες και εν Ιερουσαλήμ και εν πάση τη Ιουδαία και Σαμαρεία και έως εσχάτου της γης.
9 And having thus spoken, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Και αφού είπε ταύτα, βλεπόντων αυτών ανελήφθη, και νεφέλη υπέλαβεν αυτόν από των οφθαλμών αυτών.
10 And while they were looking earnestly into heaven as he went up, lo! two men stood by them in white apparel,
Και ενώ ήσαν ατενίζοντες εις τον ουρανόν ότε αυτός ανέβαινεν, ιδού, άνδρες δύο με ιμάτια λευκά εστάθησαν πλησίον αυτών,
11 who said, Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This Jesus, who hath been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same manner in which ye beheld him going into heaven.
οίτινες και είπον· Άνδρες Γαλιλαίοι, τι ίστασθε εμβλέποντες εις τον ουρανόν; ούτος ο Ιησούς, όστις ανελήφθη αφ' υμών εις τον ουρανόν, θέλει ελθεί ούτω καθ' ον τρόπον είδετε αυτόν πορευόμενον εις τον ουρανόν.
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem, from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, within a sabbath-day's journey.
Τότε υπέστρεψαν εις Ιερουσαλήμ από του όρους του καλουμένου Ελαιώνος, το οποίον είναι πλησίον της Ιερουσαλήμ, απέχον οδόν σαββάτου.
13 And when they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were making their abode, namely, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the zealot, and Judas the brother of James.
Και ότε εισήλθον, ανέβησαν εις το ανώγεον, όπου είχον το κατάλυμα, ο Πέτρος και Ιάκωβος και Ιωάννης και Ανδρέας, Φίλιππος και Θωμάς, Βαρθολομαίος και Ματθαίος, Ιάκωβος Αλφαίου και Σίμων ο Ζηλωτής και Ιούδας Ιακώβου.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer, with women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Ούτοι πάντες ενέμενον ομοθυμαδόν εις την προσευχήν και την δέησιν μετά των γυναικών και Μαρίας της μητρός του Ιησού και μετά των αδελφών αυτού.
15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said, (the number of the names together was about one hundred and twenty, )
Και εν ταις ημέραις ταύταις σηκωθείς ο Πέτρος εις το μέσον των μαθητών, είπεν· ήτο δε ο αριθμός των εκεί παρόντων ως εκατόν είκοσιν·
16 Brethren, it was necessary that this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who became guide to those who took Jesus.
Άνδρες αδελφοί, έπρεπε να πληρωθή η γραφή αύτη, την οποίαν προείπε το Πνεύμα το Άγιον διά στόματος του Δαβίδ περί του Ιούδα, όστις έγεινεν οδηγός εις τους συλλαβόντας τον Ιησούν,
17 For he was numbered among us, and obtained the allotment of this ministry.
διότι ήτο συνηριθμημένος με ημάς και έλαβε την μερίδα της διακονίας ταύτης.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the wages of the iniquity; and falling headlong he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.
Ούτος λοιπόν απέκτησεν αγρόν εκ του μισθού της αδικίας, και πεσών πρόμυττα εσχίσθη εις το μέσον, και εξεχύθησαν όλα τα εντόσθια αυτού·
19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that that field is called in their own tongue, Aceldamach, that is, Field of Blood.
και έγεινε γνωστόν εις πάντας τους κατοικούντας την Ιερουσαλήμ, ώστε ο αγρός εκείνος ωνομάσθη εν τη ιδία αυτών διαλέκτω Ακελδαμά, τουτέστιν, αγρός αίματος.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, “Let his habitation be made desolate, and let no one dwell therein;” and, “Let another take his office.”
Διότι είναι γεγραμμένον εν τω βιβλίω των Ψαλμών· Ας γείνη η κατοικία αυτού έρημος και ας μη ήναι ο κατοικών εν αυτή· και, Άλλος ας λάβη την επισκοπήν αυτού.
21 Of these men, therefore, who accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Πρέπει λοιπόν εκ των ανδρών, οίτινες συνήλθον μεθ' ημών καθ' όλον τον καιρόν, καθ' ον εισήλθε και εξήλθε προς ημάς ο Κύριος Ιησούς,
22 from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us, must one be made a witness with us of his resurrection.
αρχίσας από του βαπτίσματος του Ιωάννου έως της ημέρας καθ' ην ανελήφθη αφ' ημών, εις εκ τούτων να γείνη μεθ' ημών μάρτυς της αναστάσεως αυτού.
23 And they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Και έστησαν δύο, Ιωσήφ τον καλούμενον Βαρσαβάν, όστις επωνομάσθη Ιούστος, και Ματθίαν.
24 And they prayed saying, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which of these two thou hast chosen
Και προσευχηθέντες είπον· Συ, Κύριε, καρδιογνώστα πάντων, ανάδειξον εκ των δύο τούτων ένα, όντινα εξέλεξας,
25 to take the part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell away, that he might go to his own place.
διά να λάβη την μερίδα της διακονίας ταύτης και αποστολής, εκ της οποίας εξέπεσεν ο Ιούδας διά να απέλθη εις τον τόπον αυτού.
26 And they cast lots for them; and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Και έδωκαν τους κλήρους αυτών, και έπεσεν ο κλήρος εις τον Ματθίαν, και συγκατεψηφίσθη μετά των ένδεκα αποστόλων.
