3 John 1

1 The elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.

சபைத்தலைவனாகிய நான், சத்தியத்தின்படி நான் நேசிக்கிற, என் அன்பான நண்பன் காயுவுக்கு எழுதுகிறதாவது:

2 Beloved, in all things I pray that thou mayst prosper and be in health, as thy soul prospereth.

பிரியமானவனே, உன் ஆத்துமா இருப்பதுபோல், நீ உன் உடல் நலத்திலும் மற்றெல்லாவற்றிலும் நன்றாயிருக்கும்படி, நான் உனக்காக மன்றாடுகிறேன்.

3 For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bore witness to thy truth, as thou walkest in truth.

சில சகோதரர் வந்து, நீ எப்படி சத்தியத்தை உறுதியாய்க் கைக்கொள்கிறாய் என்றும், நீ தொடர்ந்து சத்தியத்தின்படி நடக்கிறாய் என்றும் எனக்குச் சொன்னபோது, நான் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தேன்.

4 I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children walk in the truth.

எனது பிள்ளைகள் சத்தியத்தில் நடக்கிறார்கள் என்று கேள்விப்படுவதைவிட வேறு பெரிதான சந்தோஷம் எனக்கு இல்லை.

5 Beloved, thou doest a faithful thing whatever thou doest to the brethren, and that to strangers,

அன்பான நண்பனே, உன்னிடம் வந்துபோகிற சகோதரர் உனக்கு அந்நியராய் இருந்துங்கூட, நீ அவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்வதில் உண்மையுள்ளவனாய் இருந்தாய்.

6 who bore witness of thy love before the church; whom if thou send forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, thou wilt do well.

அவர்கள் உன்னுடைய அன்பைக்குறித்து, இங்குள்ள திருச்சபைக்குச் சாட்சி சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்கள். நீ இறைவனுக்கு ஏற்றவிதத்தில் அப்படிப்பட்ட சகோதரர்களை வழியனுப்பி வைப்பது நல்லது.

7 For in behalf of the Name they went forth, taking nothing of the gentiles.

ஏனெனில், அவர்கள் கிறிஸ்துவின் பெயருக்காகவே அவிசுவாசிகளிடமிருந்து எவ்வித உதவியையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளாமல், பயணமாய் சென்றார்கள்.

8 We therefore ought to sustain such persons, that we may be fellow-workers for the truth.

எனவே அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களை நாம் உபசரிக்க வேண்டியவர்களாய் இருக்கிறோம். அவ்விதமாகத்தான் நாம் சத்தியத்துக்காக ஒத்துழைக்க முடியும்.

9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not.

இதை நான் திருச்சபைக்கு எழுதினேன். ஆனால் திருச்சபையில் தான் முதல்வனாயிருக்க விரும்பிய தியோத்திரேப்பு எங்கள் தலைமைத்துவத்தை ஏற்க விரும்பவில்லை.

10 Wherefore, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words; and not content therewith, he himself doth not receive the brethren, and those that would he forbiddeth, and casteth them out of the church.

எனவே நான் அங்கு வந்தால், அவன் செய்வதைக்குறித்து உங்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் எடுத்துச்சொல்வேன். அவன் தீய எண்ணத்துடன் எங்களைப்பற்றி அவதூறாய்ப் பேசுகிறான். அதிலும் திருப்தியடையாமல், அங்கு வருகின்ற சகோதரரையும் வரவேற்க மறுக்கின்றான். அவர்களை வரவேற்க விரும்புகிற மற்றவர்களையும் தடைசெய்து, அப்படிச் செய்கிறவர்களையும் திருச்சபையைவிட்டு விலக்குகிறான்.

11 Beloved, do not imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God; he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

அன்பான நண்பனே, தீமையைப் பார்த்து, நீயும் தீமை செய்யாதே! நன்மையையே செய். நன்மை செய்கிறவன் யாரோ, அவன் இறைவனுக்குரியவனாகவே இருக்கிறான். தீமையைச் செய்கிறவன் யாரோ அவன் இறைவனைக் கண்டதேயில்லை.

12 To Demetrius testimony hath been borne by all, and by the truth itself; yea, we also bear witness, and ye know that our witness is true.

தேமேத்திரியுவைக்குறித்து எல்லோரும் நன்றாக பேசுகிறார்கள்; அதுவுமல்லாமல் அவன் சத்தியத்தாலும் நற்சாட்சி பெற்றிருக்கிறான். நாங்களும் அவனைக்குறித்து நற்சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறோம், எங்கள் சாட்சி உண்மை என்பதை நீ அறிவாய்.

13 I had many things to write to thee, but I do not wish to write to thee with ink and pen;

உனக்கு எழுதவேண்டிய காரியங்கள் அதிகம் உண்டு; ஆனால் நான் அவற்றை மையினால் காகிதங்களில் எழுத விரும்பவில்லை.

14 but I hope to see thee immediately, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. The friends salute thee. Salute the friends by name.

உன்னை விரைவில் சந்திப்பேன் என எதிர்பார்க்கிறேன். அப்பொழுது, நாம் நேரடியாகவே பேசிக்கொள்ளலாம். உனக்கு சமாதானம் உண்டாவதாக. இங்குள்ள மற்ற நண்பர்களும் தங்கள் வாழ்த்துதல்களை அனுப்புகிறார்கள். அங்குள்ள ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் பெயர்பெயராக வாழ்த்துதல் கூறு.
