2 John 1
1 The elder to the elect Cyria, and to her children, whom I love in truth, and not I only, but also all that know the truth, —
[Lähettäjä: ] Johannes, seurakunnan johtaja. [Vastaanottaja: ] Jumalan omien seurakunta,
jota minä ja muut uskovat vilpittömästi rakastamme yhteisen Vapahtajamme Jeesuksen Kristuksen tähden. (aiōn g165)
3 Grace, mercy, peace shall be with you from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
Isä Jumala ja hänen Poikansa Jeesus Kristus antavat meille armonsa, rauhansa, totuutensa ja rakkautensa.
4 I rejoiced greatly, that I found some of thy children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.
Olen täällä pannut ilokseni merkille, että seuraatte totuutta ja elätte niin kuin Jumala on käskenyt.
5 And now I beseech thee, Cyria, not as writing to thee a new commandment, but that which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.
Ystävät, muistutan teitä vielä vakavasti käskystä, jonka alunpitäen saimme Jumalalta: meidän kristittyjen on rakastettava toisiamme.
6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, as ye have heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.
Jos rakastamme Jumalaa, teemme kaiken mitä hän pyytää. Ja hän on alusta asti käskenyt meidän rakastaa toisiamme.
7 For many deceivers went out into the world, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ coming in the flesh; this is the deceiver and the antichrist.
Varokaa niitä monia harhaoppisia, jotka eivät usko, että Jeesus Kristus tuli maan päälle ihmisenä ja että hänellä oli samanlainen ruumis kuin meilläkin. He ovat totuuden ja Kristuksen vastustajia.
8 Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which ye wrought, but receive a full reward.
Pitäkää huolta siitä, ettette anna heidän johtaa itseänne harhaan ja menetä palkintoanne, jonka tähden olemme nähneet paljon vaivaa. Katsokaa, että saatte Herralta täyden palkan.
9 Whoever goeth beyond, and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the teaching, he hath both the Son and the Father.
Jos poikkeatte Kristuksen opista, kadotatte yhteyden Jumalaan. Mutta jos olette sille uskollisia, teillä on sekä Isä että Poika.
10 If any one cometh to you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and do not bid him good speed.
Jos joku haluaa opettaa teitä, vaikkei itse usko sitä mitä Jeesus opetti, älkää kutsuko häntä kotiinne. Älkää millään tavalla rohkaisko häntä.
11 For he that biddeth him good speed taketh part in his evil deeds.
Jos sen tekisitte, osallistuisitte hänen pahoihin tekoihinsa.
12 Having many things to write to you, I would not write with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
Minulla olisi paljon sanottavaa. En kuitenkaan halua kirjoittaa enempää, vaan yritän päästä pian tapaamaan teitä. Voimme sitten puhua kaikesta ja nauttia yhdessäolosta.
13 The children of thy elect sister salute thee.
