2 Corinthians 4
1 Therefore, having this ministry through the mercy we received, we are not faint-hearted;
Weil wir nun diesen Dienst durch Gottes Erbarmen ausrichten dürfen, so sind wir nicht feige.
2 but have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
Nein, wir meiden alle "schändlichen Schleichwege"; wir gehen auch nicht mit "Arglist" um, noch "verfälschen" wir Gottes Wort; sondern wir machen offen die Wahrheit kund. So suchen wir uns vor Gottes Angesicht dem unbefangenen Bewußtsein aller Menschen zu empfehlen.
3 But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to them that perish,
"Liegt nun trotzdem über unserer Heilsbotschaft eine Decke", so ist das nur der Fall bei denen, die verloren gehen.
4 in whom the God of this world blinded the understandings of the unbelieving, so that they cannot behold the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (aiōn g165)
Ihnen hat der Gott dieser Weltzeit wegen ihres Unglaubens den Sinn verblendet, damit ihnen nicht leuchte der Glanz der Frohen Botschaft von der Herrlichkeit Christi, der da ist das Ebenbild Gottes. (aiōn g165)
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.
Denn wir verkündigen nicht "uns selbst", sondern Christus Jesus: er ist der Herr, und wir sind um Jesu willen eure Knechte.
6 For it is God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, that shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Denn Gott, der einst gesprochen hat: "Das Lichte leuchte aus der Finsternis", der hat auch in unseren Herzen das Licht aufgehen lassen, damit (durch uns auch anderen) leuchte jene Erkenntnis der Herrlichkeit Gottes, die da strahlt auf Christi Angesicht.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not of us;
Diesen (köstlichen) Schatz tragen wir aber in (zerbrechlichen) Tongefäßen — denn es soll sich zeigen, daß die überschwengliche Fülle der Kraft (die in diesem Schatz liegt) von Gott stammt, nicht von uns —.
8 being troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, but not in despair;
Wir werden von allen Seiten bedrängt, doch nicht erdrückt; wir zagen wohl, doch wir verzagen nicht.
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Wir werden verfolgt, aber nicht (von Gott) verlassen; wir werden zu Boden geworfen, doch nicht getötet.
10 always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.
Auf Schritt und Tritt tragen wir das Sterben Jesu an unserem Leib umher, damit sich auch das Leben Jesu an unserem Leib offenbare.
11 For we who live are continually delivered up to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
Denn im Dienst Jesu geraten wir mitten im Leben beständig in des Todes Rachen, damit sich auch das Leben Jesu an unserem sterblichen Fleisch offenbare.
12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
So wirkt in uns der Tod, in euch jedoch das Leben.
13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke,” we also believe, and therefore speak;
Trotzdem erfüllt uns derselbe Glaubensgeist, der in dem Schriftwort zum Ausdruck kommt: Ich glaube, darum rede ich. Wir glauben auch, und darum reden wir auch.
14 knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus will raise up us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.
Denn wir haben die Gewißheit, daß er, der den Herrn Jesus auferweckt hat, auch uns, die wir mit Jesus eins sind, auferwecken und uns zugleich mit euch darstellen wird (vor seinem Angesicht).
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace abounding by means of the greater number may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
Dies alles erfahren wir um euretwillen. Denn je reicher der Strom der Gnade fließt, desto mehr Herzen sollen auch zur Ehre Gottes überströmen von Dank.
16 For which cause we are not faint-hearted; but though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Deshalb sind wir auch nicht feige. Mag unser äußerer Mensch auch aufgerieben werden, unser innerer Mensch gewinnt dafür von Tag zu Tag stets neue Kraft.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us, in a higher and still higher degree, an everlasting weight of glory; (aiōnios g166)
Denn ein kurzer Augenblick leichter Trübsal bringt uns in überschwenglich reichem Maß eine ewige Fülle der Herrlichkeit, (aiōnios g166)
18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are but for a time; but the things which are not seen are ever lasting. (aiōnios g166)
wenn wir nicht schauen auf das Sichtbare, sondern auf das Unsichtbare. Denn das Sichtbare ist vergänglich, das Unsichtbare ist ewig. (aiōnios g166)
