1 Peter 3
1 In like manner, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, that even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the behavior of the wives,
ASIMISMO [vosotras] mujeres, sed sujetas á vuestros maridos; para que tambien los que no creen á la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversacion de sus mujeres,
2 when they behold your chaste behavior coupled with fear.
Considerando vuestra casta conversacion, que es en temor.
3 Whose adorning, let it not be the out yard adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing golden ornaments, or of putting on apparel;
El adorno de las cuales no sea exterior con encrespamiento del cabello, ni atavío de oro, ni en compostura de ropas;
4 but the hidden man of the heart, in that which is imperishable, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Sino el hombre del corazon que está encubierto, en incorruptible [ornato] de espíritu agradable, y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.
5 For in this manner in the old time the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands;
Porque así tambien se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, siendo sujetas á sus maridos:
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose daughters ye have become, if ye do well, and fear no alarm.
Como Sara obedecia á Abraham llamándole señor; de la cual vosotras sois hechas hijas, haciendo bien, y no sois espantadas de ningun pavor.
7 Dwell likewise, O husband, with thy wife according to knowledge, as with the weaker vessel, giving her honor as being heir with thee of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
Vosotros asimismo, maridos, habitad con ellas segun ciencia, dando honor á la mujer como á vaso mas frágil, y como á herederas juntamente de la gracia de la vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.
8 Finally, be, all of one mind, have fellow feeling, love as brethren, be compassionate, be humble;
Y finalmente, sed todos de un mismo corazon, compasivos, amándoos fraternalmente, misericordiosos, amigables;
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but, on the contrary, blessing the evil-doer; because for this end ye were called, that ye might inherit blessing.
No volviendo mal por mal, ni maldicion por maldicion; sino ántes por el contrario, bendiciendo; sabiendo que vosotros sois llamados para que poseais bendicion en herencia.
10 “For he that would love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile;
Porque el que quiere amar la vida, y ver dias buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño:
11 let him turn away from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
Apártese del mal, y haga bien; busque la paz, y sígala.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their supplication; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Porque los ojos del Señor [están] sobre los justos, y sus oidos [atentos] á sus oraciones: pero el rostro del Señor [está] sobre aquellos que hacen mal.
13 And who is he that shall harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?
¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá dañar, si vosotros seguís el bien?
14 But if ye even suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye. And be not afraid at their terrors, nor alarmed;
Mas tambien si alguna cosa padeceis por hacer bien, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto no temais por el temor de ellos, ni seais turbados;
15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. And be ready always to give an answer to every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, but with meekness and fear;
Sino santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones: y [estad] siempre aparejados para responder con mansedumbre y reverencia á cada uno que os demande razon de la esperanza que [hay] en vosotros:
16 having a good conscience, that, wherein ye are evil spoken of, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.
Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que blasfeman vuestra buena conversacion en Cristo.
17 For it is better, if it be the will of God, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing.
Porque mejor [es] que padezcais haciendo bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo mal.
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous one for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
Porque tambien Cristo padeció una vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos á Dios, siendo á la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en Espíritu:
19 in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison,
En el cual tambien fué y predicó á los espíritus encarcelados;
20 who were disobedient in times past, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water;
Los cuales en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez esperaba la paciencia de Dios en los dias de Noé, cuando se aparejaba el arca; en la cual pocas, es á saber, ocho personas fueron salvas por agua.
21 which in its antitype, baptism, is now saving you, —not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the earnest seeking for a good conscience toward God, —by the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
A la figura de la cual el bautismo que ahora corresponde nos salva, (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, sino [como] demanda de una buena conciencia delante de Dios, ) por la resurreccion de Jesu-Cristo:
22 who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
El cual está á la diestra de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo; estando á él sujetos los ángeles, y las potestades, y virtudes.
