< 1 Corinthians 1 >

1 Paul, a called apostle of Christ Jesus, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,
Paul, called to be an apostle of Meshikha Yeshua by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
2 to the church of God which is at Corinth, the sanctified in Christ Jesus, called, holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours;
to the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Meshikha Yeshua, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha in every place, both theirs and ours:
3 grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua Meshikha.
4 I ever thank my God for you, on account of the grace of God bestowed upon you in Christ Jesus;
I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Meshikha Yeshua;
5 that in him ye were enriched in everything, in all utterance, and all knowledge,
that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;
6 as the testimony of Christ was established among you;
even as the testimony of Meshikha was confirmed in you:
7 so that ye come behind in no gift, while waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ;
so that you come behind in no gift; as you wait for our Lord Yeshua Meshikha to be revealed;
8 who will also make you steadfast to the end, so that ye may be without blame in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
who will also strengthen you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha.
9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Yeshua Meshikha, our Lord.
10 But I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Now I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha, that all of you be in agreement, so that there may be no divisions among you, and to be united by the same mind and conviction.
11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by those of the family of Chloe, that there are dissensions among you.
For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.
12 What I mean is this, that each of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Kipha," and, "I follow Meshikha."
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized the name of Paul?
Is Meshikha divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 that no one may say that ye were baptized into my name.
so that no one should say that you had been baptized into my own name.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas; I am not aware that I baptized any one besides.
(Now I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.)
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel; not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
For Meshikha sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of the Meshikha would not be made void.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to those who are perishing, foolishness, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nought the discernment of the discerning.”
For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will nullify."
20 Where is the wise man? Where the scribe? Where the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (aiōn g165)
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (aiōn g165)
21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by its wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe;
For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
22 since even Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek for wisdom;
For Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling-block, and to gentiles foolishness,
but we preach Meshikha crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the non-Jews,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Meshikha is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man's, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's.
26 For consider, brethren, who ye are that have been called; not many wise men after the fashion of the world, not many mighty, not many noble;
For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.
27 but the foolish things of the world did God choose, to put to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world did God choose, to put to shame the things which are strong;
But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong.
28 and the mean things of the world, and the things which are despised, did God choose, the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are;
And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something,
29 that no flesh might glory before God.
that no flesh might boast before God.
30 But from him it is that ye are in Christ Jesus, who from God was made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption;
And because of him you are in Meshikha Yeshua, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
31 that, according as it is written, “He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.”
so that, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
