1 Corinthians 8
1 Now concerning the things offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth;
Ora, no tocante ás coisas sacrificadas aos idolos, sabemos que todos temos sciencia. A sciencia incha, mas o amor edifica.
2 if any one think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet, as he ought to know;
E, se alguem cuida saber alguma coisa, ainda não sabe como convem saber.
3 but if any one love God, the same is known by Him.
Mas, se alguem ama a Deus, esse é conhecido d'elle.
4 Concerning the eating of the things offered in sacrifice to idols, then, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
Assim que, quanto ao comer das coisas sacrificadas aos idolos, sabemos que o idolo nada é no mundo, e que não ha algum outro Deus, senão um só
5 For though there are those that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;
Porque, ainda que haja tambem alguns que se chamem deuses, quer no céu quer na terra (como ha muitos deuses e muitos senhores),
6 yet to us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we to him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.
Todavia para nós ha um só Deus, o Pae, do qual são todas as coisas, e nós para elle; e um só Senhor, Jesus Christo, pelo qual são todas as coisas, e nós por elle.
7 But there is not in all men this knowledge; for some, with a conscience directed toward the idol even now, eat of it as a thing offered in sacrifice to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
Mas nem em todos ha sciencia; porque alguns até agora comem com consciencia do idolo coisas sacrificadas aos idolos; e a sua consciencia, sendo fraca, fica contaminada.
8 But food will not recommend us to God; if we do not eat, we are not the worse; nor if we do eat, are we the better.
Ora o manjar não nos faz agradaveis a Deus, porque, se comemos, nada temos de mais, e, se não comemos, nada nos falta.
9 But take heed, lest this liberty of yours become a stumbling-block to the weak.
Mas vêde que esse vosso poder não seja d'alguma maneira escandalo para os fracos.
10 For if any one see thee, who hast knowledge, at table in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him that is weak be emboldened to eat the things offered to idols?
Porque, se alguem te vir a ti, que tens sciencia, assentado á mesa no templo dos idolos, não será a consciencia do que é fraco induzida a comer das coisas sacrificadas aos idolos?
11 For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, —the brother for whom Christ died!
E pela tua sciencia perecerá o irmão fraco, pelo qual Christo morreu?
12 But when ye so sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
Ora, peccando assim contra os irmãos, e ferindo a sua fraca consciencia, peccaes contra Christo.
