< Ruth 1 >
1 It happened in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land. A certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
Ní ìgbà tí àwọn onídàájọ́ ń ṣe àkóso ilẹ̀ Israẹli, ìyàn kan mú ní ilẹ̀ náà, ọkùnrin kan láti Bẹtilẹhẹmu ti Juda, òun àti aya rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ọkùnrin méjì lọ láti máa gbé ní ilẹ̀ Moabu fún ìgbà díẹ̀.
2 The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Kilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem Judah. They came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

4 And they took for themselves wives from the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they lived there about ten years.
Wọ́n sì fẹ́ àwọn ọmọbìnrin ará Moabu méjì, orúkọ ọ̀kan ń jẹ́ Oripa, èkejì sì ń jẹ́ Rutu. Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n sì ti gbé níbẹ̀ fún bí ọdún mẹ́wàá,

6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that YHWH had visited his people in giving them bread.
Nígbà tí Naomi gbọ́ ní Moabu tí ó wà wí pé Olúwa ti bẹ àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ wò nípa fífún wọn ní ọ̀pọ̀ oúnjẹ. Ó sì dìde pẹ̀lú àwọn ìyàwó ọmọ rẹ̀ méjèèjì láti padà sí ìlú rẹ̀.
7 She went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.

8 Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go, return each of you to her mother's house. May YHWH deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead, and with me.
Ṣùgbọ́n ní ojú ọ̀nà, Naomi wí fún àwọn aya ọmọ rẹ̀ méjèèjì pé, “Kí ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan yín padà sí ilé ìyá rẹ̀. Kí Olúwa ṣe àánú fún yín bí ẹ ti ṣe sí èmi àti àwọn ọkọ yín tí ó kú.

11 Naomi said, "Go back, my daughters. Why do you want to go with me? Do I still have sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12 Go back, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, 'I have hope,' if I should even have a husband tonight, and should also bear sons;
Ẹ padà sílé, ẹ̀yin ọmọ mi, nítorí èmi ti di arúgbó jù láti ní ọkọ mìíràn. Bí èmí wí pé, èmí ní ìrètí, bí èmí tilẹ̀ ní ọkọ mìíràn ní alẹ́ yìí, tí èmí sì bí àwọn ọmọkùnrin mìíràn,
13 would you then wait until they were grown? Would you then refrain from having husbands? No, my daughters, for it grieves me much for your sakes, for the hand of YHWH has gone out against me."
ẹ̀yin ha le è dúró dìgbà tí wọ́n yóò fi dàgbà? Ẹ̀yin ó le è dúró dè wọ́n láì fẹ́ ọkọ mìíràn? Rárá, ẹ̀yin ọmọbìnrin mi, nítorí pé inú mi bàjẹ́ gidigidi ju tiyín lọ, nítorí tí ọwọ́ Olúwa fi jáde sí mi!”
14 They lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law and returned to her people, but Ruth clung to her.

Naomi wí pé, “Wò ó, arábìnrin rẹ ti padà lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ àti òrìṣà rẹ̀, ìwọ náà padà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.”
16 Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you, and to return from following after you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay; your people shall be my people, and your God my God;
Ṣùgbọ́n Rutu dáhùn wí pé, “Má ṣe rọ̀ mí láti fi ọ́ sílẹ̀ tàbí láti padà lẹ́yìn rẹ. Ibi tí ìwọ bá lọ ní èmi yóò lọ, ibi ti ìwọ bá dúró ni èmi yóò dúró, àwọn ènìyàn rẹ ni yóò jẹ́ ènìyàn mi, Ọlọ́run rẹ ni yóò sì jẹ́ Ọlọ́run mi.

19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. It happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they asked, "Is this Naomi?"
Àwọn méjèèjì sì ń lọ títí wọ́n fi dé ìlú Bẹtilẹhẹmu. Nígbà tí wọ́n dé ibẹ̀, ariwo ìpadàbọ̀ wọn gba ìlú kan, àwọn obìnrin ibẹ̀ sì kígbe ní ohùn rara wí pé, “Naomi ni èyí bí?”
