< Psalms 6 >
1 [For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David.] YHWH, do not rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath.
In finem, in carminibus. Psalmus David. Pro octava. Domine, ne in furore tuo arguas me, neque in ira tua corripias me.
2 Be gracious to me, YHWH, for I am frail. YHWH, heal me, for my bones are trembling.
Miserere mei, Domine, quoniam infirmus sum; sana me, Domine, quoniam conturbata sunt ossa mea.
3 And my soul is greatly troubled. But you, YHWH, how long?
Et anima mea turbata est valde; sed tu, Domine, usquequo?
4 Return, YHWH. Deliver my soul. Save me because of your lovingkindness.
Convertere, Domine, et eripe animam meam; salvum me fac propter misericordiam tuam.
5 For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks? (Sheol )
Quoniam non est in morte qui memor sit tui; in inferno autem quis confitebitur tibi? (Sheol )
6 I am weary with my groaning. Every night I drench my bed; I melt my couch with my tears.
Laboravi in gemitu meo; lavabo per singulas noctes lectum meum: lacrimis meis stratum meum rigabo.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.
Turbatus est a furore oculus meus; inveteravi inter omnes inimicos meos.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for YHWH has heard the sound of my weeping.
Discedite a me omnes qui operamini iniquitatem, quoniam exaudivit Dominus vocem fletus mei.
9 YHWH has heard my plea. YHWH has accepted my prayer.
Exaudivit Dominus deprecationem meam; Dominus orationem meam suscepit.
10 May all my enemies be ashamed and greatly terrified. May they turn back, suddenly ashamed.
Erubescant, et conturbentur vehementer, omnes inimici mei; convertantur, et erubescant valde velociter.
