Proverbs 5
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Turn your ear to my understanding:
Hijo mío, presta atención a mi sabiduría. Poner el oído en mi entendimiento,
2 that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge.
que pueda mantener la discreción, para que tus labios conserven el conocimiento.
3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,
Porque los labios de una adúltera gotean miel. Su boca es más suave que el aceite,
4 But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword.
pero al final es tan amarga como el ajenjo, y tan afilado como una espada de dos filos.

6 She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn't know it.
No piensa en el camino de la vida. Sus caminos están torcidos, y ella no lo sabe.
7 Now therefore, son, listen to me. Do not depart from the words of my mouth.
Ahora, pues, hijos míos, escuchadme. No te apartes de las palabras de mi boca.
8 Remove your way far from her. Do not come near the door of her house,
Quita tu camino lejos de ella. No te acerques a la puerta de su casa,
9 lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the merciless;
para que no des tu honor a otros, y tus años a la cruel;
10 lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man's house.
para que los extraños no se den un festín con tu riqueza, y tus labores enriquecen la casa de otro.
11 You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
Gemirás al final de tu vida, cuando tu carne y tu cuerpo se consuman,
12 and say, "How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
y decir: “Cómo he odiado la instrucción, y mi corazón despreció la reprensión.
13 neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor turned my ear to those who instructed me.
No he obedecido la voz de mis maestros, ni he prestado oídos a los que me han instruido.
14 I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly."

15 Drink water out of your own cistern, running water out of your own well.
Bebe agua de tu propia cisterna, agua corriente de su propio pozo.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?
Si tus manantiales se desbordan en las calles, ¿corrientes de agua en las plazas públicas?
17 Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.
Que sean sólo para ti, no para los extraños con usted.
18 Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Que se bendiga tu primavera. Alégrate con la esposa de tu juventud.
19 A loving doe and a graceful deer—let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.
Una cierva cariñosa y un ciervo elegante — deja que sus pechos te satisfagan en todo momento. Déjate cautivar siempre por su amor.
20 For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?
¿Por qué, hijo mío, has de ser cautivado por una adúltera? ¿Por qué abrazar el seno de otro?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of YHWH. He examines all his paths.
Porque los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Yahvé. Examina todos sus caminos.
22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
Las malas acciones de los malvados lo atrapan. Las cuerdas de su pecado lo sujetan firmemente.
23 He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray.
Morirá por falta de instrucción. En la grandeza de su locura, se extraviará.
