< Proverbs 28 >
1 The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

2 In rebellion, a land has many rulers, but order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.

3 A needy man who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.
Tamimathoe ni tamimathoe repcoungroe e teh ca hane pek laipalah ka cetkhai e longhotui hoi a kâvan.
4 Those who forsake the Law praise the wicked; but those who keep the Law contend with them.
Kâlawk ka cettakhai e ni tamikathout a pholen, hatei kâlawk ka tarawi ni ouk a tuk awh.
5 Evil men do not understand justice; but those who seek YHWH understand it fully.
Tamikathoutnaw ni lannae thaipanuek awh hoeh, hatei BAWIPA katawngnaw ni bangpueng hai a thaipanuek.
6 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.
Tawnta laihoi a khuekhaw awm laipalah hring hlak teh tamimathoe yuemkamculah kaawm e ahawihnawn.
7 Whoever keeps the Law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.
Kâlawk ka tarawi e teh a lungkaang e capa doeh, ka kâso e hoi kamyawng e ni a na pa yeirai a po sak.
8 He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.
Apung ka cat ni teh kalan hoeh e lahoi hnopai ka tawnta e ni tamimathoe kabawmkung hanelah a pâtung pouh.
9 He who turns away his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination.
Kâlawk ka tarawi ngai hoeh e teh a ratoumnae hai panuet a tho.
10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good.
Thoenae lam dawk tamikalan lam ka phen sak e teh ama ni a tai e tangkom dawk a bo han, hatei toun kaawm hoeh e ni hnokahawi a coe han.
11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor who has understanding sees through him.
Ka tawnta e ni amahoima a lungkaang lah a kâpouk, hatei thaipanueknae ka tawn e tamimathoe ni peng a pâpho han.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
Tamikalan a lunghawi navah kalen e bawilennae ao, hatei tamikathout a kangdue toteh taminaw a kâhro awh.
13 He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Amae yonae ka hrawk e teh hawinae hmawt mahoeh, hatei ka pâpho e ni pahrennae a hmu han.
14 Blessed is the man who is always reverent; but the one who hardens his heart will fall into evil.
Takinae pou ka tawn e teh a yawkahawi e doeh, hatei a lung pou ka patak e teh rawkkahmanae hoi a kâhmo han.
15 As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.
Mathoenaw kaukkung bawi kathout teh sendek ka huk e hoi tavom ka hram e patetlah ao.
16 A prince who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor, but one who hates ill-gotten gain will prolong his days.
Thaipanueknae ka vout e ukkung niteh rep a coungroe hatei hounlounnae ka hmuhma e ukkung teh a hringsaw han.
17 A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death; no one will support him.
Tamikathet e teh phuen tangkom koe yawng na lawiseh, apinihai ngang nahan seh.
18 Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.
Lam kalan dawk ka dawn e tami teh a hlout han, hatei lam longkawi dawk ka dawn e teh vaitalahoi a rawp han.
19 One who works his land will have an abundance of food; but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
Laikawk ka thawn e teh rawca moi a tawn han, hatei ayawmyinlah kaawm e tami teh a mathoe han.
20 A faithful man is rich with blessings; but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.

21 To show partiality is not good; yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
Minhmai khet tawnnae teh hawi hoeh, vaiyei tangen kecu dawk tami kâlawk ouk a tapoe awh.
22 A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn't know that poverty waits for him.
Dongdengca dawk tawnta hanelah kâcai e tami teh thoenae mit a tawn, bout mathoe han doeh tie pouk hoeh.
23 One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than one who flatters with the tongue.
Tami ka oup e hlak teh tami ka yue e ni a hnukkhu pholennae a coe han.
24 Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It's not wrong." He is a partner with a destroyer.
A manu hoi a na pa hno ka lawm niteh, kâtapoenae nahoeh ka tet e tami teh, karaphoekung e hui doeh.
25 One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in YHWH will prosper.
Tami kâoup e lungthin ni kâyuenae a tâcokhai, hatei BAWIPA kâuep e teh a lamcawn han.
26 One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

27 One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
Tamimathoenaw hno ka poe e teh vout mahoeh, hatei ka roun e tami teh puenghoi thoebonae a hmu han.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous thrive.
Tamikathoutnaw a kangdue toteh taminaw amahmawk a kâhro awh, hatei a rawk awh toteh tamikalannaw a pung awh.
