< Proverbs 26 >

1 Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not fitting for a fool.
Akkuma cabbii yeroo bonaa yookaan bokkaa yeroo haamaa, nama gowwaaf ulfinni hin malu.
2 Like a fluttering sparrow, like a darting swallow, so the undeserved curse doesn't come to rest.
Akkuma simbirri barriftu yookaan daaloteen barriftu abaarsi sababii malee dhufu nama irra hin buʼu.
3 A whip is for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools.
Alangaan fardaaf, luugamni harreef, uleen immoo dugda gowwaatiif mala!
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him.
Gowwaadhaaf akka gowwummaa isaatti hin deebisin; yoo akkas goote ati mataan kee iyyuu akkuma isaa taata.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
Gowwaadhaaf deebii gowwummaa isaatiif malu kenni; yoo kanaa achii inni ogeessa of seʼaa.
6 One who sends a message by the hand of a fool is cutting off feet and drinking violence.
Harka nama gowwaatti ergaa ergachuun, akkuma miilla ofii irraa muruu yookaan summii dhuguu ti.
7 Like the legs of the lame that hang loose: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
Afaan nama gowwaa keessatti, fakkeenyi akkuma miilla naafaa ti.
8 As one who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool.
Namni gowwaadhaaf ulfina kennu, akkuma nama furrisaatti dhagaa guduunfuu ti.
9 Like a thornbush that goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
Fakkeenyi afaan gowwaa keessatti akkuma qoraattii harka nama machaaʼee keessaa ti.
10 As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool or he who hires those who pass by.
Namni gowwaa yookaan kara deemaa qaxaratu akkuma adamsaa nama hunda xiyyaan madeessuu ti.
11 As a dog that returns to his vomit, so is a fool who repeats his folly.
Akkuma sareen diddiga isheetti deebitu sana, gowwaan gowwummaa isaa irra deddeebiʼa.
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
Ati nama akka ilaalcha ofii isaatti ogeessa taʼe argitaa? Isa irra gowwaatu abdii caalu qaba.
13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion in the road. A fierce lion roams the streets."
Dhibaaʼaan, “Leenci karaa irra jira; leenci sodaachisaan daandii irra jira!” jedha.
14 As the door turns on its hinges, so does the sluggard on his bed.
Akkuma saanqaan muchoo isaa irra naannaʼu, dhibaaʼaan siree ofii irra gaggaragala
15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
Dhibaaʼaan harka isaa waciitii keessa kaaʼa; gara afaan isaatti deebifachuuf ni dhibaaʼa.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer with discretion.
Dhibaaʼaan namoota hubannaadhaan deebii kennan torba caalaa ogeessa of seʼa.
17 Like one who grabs a dog's ears is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own.
Namni lola nama biraa keessa seenu, akkuma nama harkaan gurra saree qabuu ti.
18 Like a madman who shoots firebrands, arrows, and death,
Akkuma maraatuu ibidda yookaan xiyya namatti gad dhiisu tokkoo
19 is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, "Am I not joking?"
namni, “Ani nan qoose!” jedhee ollaa isaa gowwoomsus akkasuma.
20 Without wood a fire goes out. Without gossip, contention ceases.
Ibiddi yoo qoraan dhabe ni dhaama; hamiin yoo hin jiraanne, lolli ni qabbanaaʼa.
21 As coals are to hot embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindling strife.
Akkuma cileen barbadaa ibiddaa bobeessee qoraan ibidda qabsiisu sana namni lola jaallatu lola kakaasa.
22 The words of a gossip are as tasty morsels, they go down into the innermost parts.
Dubbiin hamattuu akkuma gurshaa miʼaawuu ti; gara kutaa garaattis gad buʼa.
23 Like silver dross on an earthen vessel are the lips of a fervent one with an evil heart.
Dubbiin gaariin garaa hamaa keessaa baʼu akkuma okkotee meetiin irra dibamee ti.
24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but he harbors evil in his heart.
Namni maqaa namaa balleessu tokko arrabuma ofiitiin nama tolaa of fakkeessa; garaa isaa keessatti immoo gowwoomsaa guduunfata.
25 When his speech is charming, do not believe him; for there are seven abominations in his heart.
Yoo dubbiin isaa sitti miʼaawe iyyuu isa hin amanin; wanni jibbisiisaan torba garaa isaa guuteeraatii.
26 His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
Jalʼinni isaa sobaan haguugamee dhokfamuu dandaʼa; hamminni isaa garuu fuula waldaa duratti ifatti baʼa.
27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.
Namni boolla qotu boolla keessa buʼa; nama dhagaa gangalchus, dhagaan sun isumatti deebiʼa.
28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts; and a flattering mouth works ruin.
Arrabni sobu tokko warruma miidhu sana jibba; afaan saadu tokkos badiisa fida.
