< Proverbs 21 >
1 The king's heart is in YHWH's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.
Hoe kadahan-drano am-pità’ Iehovà ty arofo’ i mpanjakay; tehafe’e an-tsatri’e.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but YHWH weighs the hearts.
Mahity am-pihaino’ ondaty o sata’eo; fe Mpandanja arofo t’Iehovà.
3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to YHWH than sacrifice.
No’ Iehovà ambone’ ty soroñe ty havañonañe naho ty hatò.
4 A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
Fihaino mievoñevoñe naho arofo miebotse: ro failo’ o lo-tserekeo—hakeo izay.
5 The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
Minday havokarañe ty fisafiri’ o mavitrikeo; fe mitarike mb’am-pilàñe ty fanaentàeñañe.
6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.
Ty ahazoam-bara am-pamelem-pandañitse le evoñe mihelañe mb’am-pikoromahañe.
7 The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
Ho kozozoteñe añe o lo-tserekeo ty amo fijoia’eo, fa ifoneña’ iareo ty tsy hanao ty hiti’e.
8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
Mikelokeloke ty lala’ ondaty mengoke; fe mahity ty fitoloña’ ty malio añ’arofo.
9 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.
Hàmake te mitoboke an-kotson-tapenak’ ao, ta te miharo akiba aman-drakemba tea-trabike.
10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.
Mipay haratiañe ty tro’ i tsivokatsey, fa tsy mahaonin-tretrè am-pihaino’e ty rañe’e.
11 When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
Ie lafañe ty mpañìnje, mihamahihitse t’ie trentrañe, ie anareñe ty mahihitse, mitombo ty hilala’e.
12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.
Misamba ty akiba’ i lo-tserekey ty vantañe; avari’e mb’am-piantoañe i tsivokatsey.
13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.
I manjenjen-dravembia ami’ty fitoreo’ o rarakeo, ty mbe hikaike fe tsy ho toiñeñe.
14 A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.
Fañanintsin-kaviñerañe ty ravoravo añ’etake, naho filoa-tiñake ty vokàñe añ’araña ao.
15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to evildoers.
Ie anoeñe ty hatò, ehake o vañoñeo, fe mangebahebake o mpikitroke haratiañeo.
16 The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.
Hitofa am-pivorian-dolo ao t’indaty mandrike amy lalan-kilalay.
17 He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.
H’ondaty poi’e ty mpitea haravoañe; tsy ho mpañaleale ty mpikoko divay naho menake.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; the treacherous for the upright.
Vilin’ai’ ty vantañe ty tsivokatse, le tsoa’ ty vañoñe ty mpamañahy.
19 It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.
Hàmake t’ie mimoneñe an-dratraratra añe, ta t’ie miharo aman-drakemba mandietse naho mora boseke.
20 There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.
Mihaja añ’anjomba’ o mahihitseo ty vara sarotse naho ty menake; fe abotse’ ty dagola o azeo.
21 He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.
Manjo haveloñe naho havañonañe vaho hasiñe ty mitoha havantañañe naho fiferenaiñañe.
22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.
Mitroatse an-drovam-panalolahy ty mahihitse, vaho arotsa’e ty hafatrarañe niatoa’e.
23 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
Mitan-ty fiai’e tsy ho am-poheke ty mahambeñe falie naho fameleke.
24 The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride.
Manivetive ty añara’e avao ty mpirohake naho mpievoñevoñe; ie mitoloñe am-pitrotroaboha’e.
25 The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.
Mañe-doza amy tembo ty fañiria’e, amy te tsy mete mitoloñe o taña’eo.
26 There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and do not withhold.
Hadrao lomoñandro ty lahiaga, fe matarike ty vantañe, tsy mangazoñe.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind.
Tiva ty fisoroña’ o tsivokatseo; àntsake te engae’e miharo kinia.
28 A false witness will perish, and a man who listens speaks to eternity.
Hikenkañe ty mpitalily vìlañe, fe mitolom-pitaroñe ty mañaoñe.
29 A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.
Manao tarehe mahavany ty rati-tsereke, fe itsakorea’ ty vantañe ty hombà’e.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against YHWH.
Tsy eo ty hihitse, ndra ty faharendrehañe, ndra ty safiry mahafiatreatre am’Iehovà.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with YHWH.
Hentseñeñe ho ami’ty androm-pihotakotahañe ty soavala, fe a Iehovà ty fandrebahañe.
