< Proverbs 16 >

1 The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from YHWH.
心に謀るところは人にあり 舌の答はヱホバより出づ
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but YHWH weighs the motives.
人の途はおのれの目にことごとく潔しと見ゆ 惟ヱホバ霊魂をはかりたまふ
3 Entrust your works to YHWH, and your plans will be established.
なんぢの作爲をヱホバに託せよ さらば汝の謀るところ必ず成るべし
4 YHWH has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
ヱホバはすべての物をおのおのその用のために造り 惡人をも惡き日のために造りたまへり
5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to YHWH: they shall certainly not be unpunished.
すべて心たかぶる者はヱホバに惡まれ 手に手をあはするとも罪をまぬかれじ
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of YHWH men depart from evil.
憐憫と眞實とによりて愆は贖はる ヱホバを畏るることによりて人惡を離る
7 When a man's ways please YHWH, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
ヱホバもし人の途を喜ばば その人の敵をも之と和がしむべし
8 Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.
義によりて得たるところの僅少なる物は不義によりて得たる多の資財にまさる
9 A man's heart plans his course, but YHWH directs his steps.
人は心におのれの途を考へはかる されどその歩履を導くものはヱホバなり
10 Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.
王のくちびるには神のさばきあり 審判するときその口あやまる可らず
11 Honest balances and scales are YHWH's; all the weights in the bag are his work.
公平の權衡と天秤とはヱホバのものなり 嚢にある法馬もことごとく彼の造りしものなり
12 It is an abomination to kings to do wickedness, for the throne is established by righteousness.
惡をおこなふことは王の憎むところなり 是その位は公義によりて堅く立ばなり
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.
義しき口唇は王によろこばる 彼等は正直をいふものを愛す
14 The king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
王の怒は死の使者のごとし 智慧ある人はこれをなだむ
15 In the light of the king's face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
王の面の光には生命あり その恩寵は春雨の雲のごとし
16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
智慧を得るは金をうるよりも更に善らずや 聰明をうるは銀を得るよりも望まし
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
惡を離るるは直き人の路なり おのれの道を守るは霊魂を守るなり
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
驕傲は滅亡にさきだち誇る心は傾跌にさきだつ
19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
卑き者に交りて謙だるは驕ぶる者と偕にありて贓物をわかつに愈る
20 He who heeds the word finds prosperity, and blessed is he who trusts in YHWH.
愼みて御言をおこなふ者は益をうべし ヱホバに倚賴むものは福なり
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
心に智慧あれば哲者と稱へらる くちびる甘ければ人の知識をます
22 Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.
明哲はこれを持つものに生命の泉となる 愚なる者をいましむる者はおのれの痴是なり
23 The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
智慧ある者の心はおのれの口ををしへ 又おのれの口唇に知識をます
24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
こころよき言は蜂蜜のごとくにして 霊魂に甘く骨に良薬となる
25 There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
人の自から見て正しとする途にして その終はつひに死にいたる途となるものあり
26 The appetite of the laboring man labors for him; for his mouth urges him on.
勞をるものは飮食のために骨をる 是その口おのれに迫ればなり
27 A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.
邪曲なる人は惡を掘る その口唇には烈しき火のごときものあり
28 A perverse man stirs up strife, and a gossip separates close friends.
いつはる者はあらそひを起し つけぐちする者は朋友を離れしむ
29 A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
強暴人はその鄰をいざなひ 之を善らざる途にみちびく
30 One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
その目を閉て惡を謀り その口唇を蹙めて惡事を成遂ぐ
31 Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is found in the path of righteousness.
白髮は榮の冠弁なり 義しき途にてこれを見ん
32 One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
怒を遅くする者は勇士に愈り おのれの心を治むる者は城を攻取る者に愈る
33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from YHWH.
人は籤をひく されど事をさだむるは全くヱホバにあり
