Numbers 25
1 Now Israel stayed in Shittim; and the people defiled themselves by having sexual relations with the women of Moab,
യിസ്രായേൽ ശിത്തീമിൽ പാൎക്കുമ്പോൾ ജനം മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീകളുമായി പരസംഗം തുടങ്ങി.
2 and they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods; and the people ate, and bowed down to their gods.
അവർ ജനത്തെ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്മാരുടെ ബലികൾക്കു വിളിക്കയും ജനം ഭക്ഷിച്ചു അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ നമസ്കരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
3 Israel joined himself to Baal Peor: and the anger of YHWH was kindled against Israel.
യിസ്രായേൽ ബാൽപെയോരിനോടു ചേൎന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു.
4 YHWH said to Moses, "Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to YHWH before the sun, that the fierce anger of YHWH may turn away from Israel."
യഹോവ മോശെയോടു: ജനത്തിന്റെ തലവന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും കൂട്ടി യഹോവയുടെ ഉഗ്രകോപം യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ പരസ്യമായി തൂക്കിക്കളക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
5 Moses said to the judges of Israel, "Everyone kill his men who have joined themselves to Baal Peor."
മോശെ യിസ്രായേൽ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ആളുകളിൽ ബാൽപെയോരിനോടു ചേൎന്നവരെ കൊല്ലുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 Look, one of the children of Israel came and brought to his brothers a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, while they were weeping at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
എന്നാൽ മോശെയും സമാഗമനകൂടാരത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കൽ കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ സൎവ്വസഭയും കാൺകെ, ഒരു യിസ്രായേല്യൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ മദ്ധ്യത്തിലേക്കു ഒരു മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
7 When Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation, and took a spear in his hand;
അഹരോൻപുരോഹിതന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകൻ ഫീനെഹാസ് അതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ സഭയുടെ മദ്ധ്യേനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു കയ്യിൽ ഒരു കുന്തം എടുത്തു,
8 and he went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
ആ യിസ്രായേല്യന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അന്തഃപുരത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു ഇരുവരെയും, ആ യിസ്രായേല്യനെയും ആ സ്ത്രീയെയും തന്നേ, അവളുടെ ഉദരം തുളയുംവണ്ണം കുത്തി, അപ്പോൾ ബാധ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളെ വിട്ടുമാറി.
9 Those who died by the plague were twenty-four thousand.
ബാധകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചുപോയവർ ഇരുപത്തുനാലായിരം പേർ.
10 YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,
പിന്നെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:
11 "Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.
ഞാൻ എന്റെ തീക്ഷ്ണതയിൽ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ സംഹരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അഹരോൻപുരോഹിതന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകൻ ഫീനെഹാസ് അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ളവനായി എന്റെ ക്രോധം യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളെ വിട്ടുപോകുമാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 Therefore say, 'Look, I give to him my covenant of peace:
ആകയാൽ ഇതാ, ഞാൻ അവന്നു എന്റെ സമാധാനനിയമം കൊടുക്കുന്നു.
13 and it shall be to him, and to his descendants after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.'"
അവൻ തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ളവനായി യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം കഴിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും നിത്യപൌരോഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ നിയമമാകും എന്നു നീ പറയേണം.
14 Now the name of the man of Israel that was slain, who was slain with the Midianite woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers' house among the Simeonites.
മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ കൊന്ന യിസ്രായേല്യന്നു സിമ്രി എന്നു പേർ; അവൻ ശിമെയോൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ ഒരു പ്രഭുവായ സാലൂവിന്റെ മകൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
15 The name of the Midianite woman who was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head of the people of a fathers' house in Midian.
കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീക്കു കൊസ്ബി എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ഒരു മിദ്യാന്യഗോത്രത്തിൽ ജനാധിപനായിരുന്ന സൂരിന്റെ മകളായിരുന്നു.
16 And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the children of Israel, saying,
പെയോരിന്റെ സംഗതിയിലും പെയോർ നിമിത്തം ഉണ്ടായ ബാധയുടെ നാളിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട അവരുടെ സഹോദരിയായി മിദ്യാന്യപ്രഭുവിന്റെ മകൾ കൊസ്ബിയുടെ സംഗതിയിലും മിദ്യാന്യർ നിങ്ങളെ ചതിച്ചു ഉപായങ്ങളാൽ വലെച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,
17 'Harass the Midianites, and strike them;
നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ വലെച്ചു സംഹരിപ്പിൻ
18 for they harassed you with their tricks, with which they have deceived you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.'"
എന്നു യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
