Matthew 15
1 Then the Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
Silloin tulivat Jesuksen tykö kirjanoppineet ja Pharisealaiset Jerusalemista, ja sanoivat:
2 "Why do your disciples disobey the Tradition of the Elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread."
Miksi sinun opetuslapses rikkovat vanhinten säädyn? sillä ei he pese käsiänsä leipää syödessänsä.
3 And he answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
Niin hän vastaten sanoi heille: miksi tekin rikotte Jumalan käskyn, teidän säätynne tähden?
4 For God said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'
Sillä Jumala käski, sanoen: kunnioita isääs ja äitiäs: ja joka kiroilee isää eli äitiä, hänen pitää kuolemalla kuoleman.
5 But you say, 'Whoever may tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,"
Mutta te sanotte: jokainen sanokaan isälle taikka äidille: se on uhrattu, jolla sinua piti minulta autettaman: ja ei ensinkään kunnoittaisi isäänsä eikä äitiänsä.
6 he is not to honor his father or his mother.' You have made the word of God void because of your tradition.
Ja te olette rikkoneet Jumalan käskyn teidän säätynne tähden.
7 You hypocrites. Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
Te ulkokullatut! Jesaias ennusti teistä oikein, sanoen:
8 'These people honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Tämä kansa lähestyy minua suullansa, ja kunnioittaa minua huulillansa; mutta heidän sydämensä on kaukana minusta.
9 And in vain do they worship me, teaching instructions that are the commandments of humans.'"
Vaan turhaan he minua palvelevat, opettain niitä opetuksia, jotka ovat ihmisten käskyt.
10 He summoned the crowd, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.

11 That which enters into the mouth does not defile the person; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the person."
Ei se ihmistä saastuta, mikä suusta menee sisälle, mutta se, mikä suusta tulee ulos, saastuttaa ihmisen.
12 Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?"

13 But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.

14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit."

15 And answering, Peter said to him, "Explain this parable to us."

16 So he said, "Do you also still not understand?
Niin Jesus sanoi: vieläkö tekin olette ymmärtämättömät?
17 Do you not understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?
Ettekö te vielä ymmärrä, että kaikki, mitä suuhun sisälle menee, se menee vatsaan, ja sillä on luonnollinen uloskäyminen.
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the person.
Mutta jotka suusta tulevat ulos, ne lähtevät sydämestä ulos, ja saastuttavat ihmisen.
19 For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
Sillä sydämestä tulevat ulos pahat ajatukset, murhat, salavuoteudet, huoruudet, varkaudet, väärät todistukset, pilkat:
20 These are the things which defile the person; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the person."
Nämät ovat ne, jotka saastuttavat ihmisen; mutta pesemättömillä käsillä syödä, ei saastuta ihmistä.
21 Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
Ja Jesus läksi sieltä ja poikkesi Tyron ja Sidonin maan ääriin.
22 And look, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and started shouting, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David. My daughter is severely demonized."
Ja katso, Kanaanean vaimo, joka niistä maan ääristä oli tullut, huusi häntä, sanoen: Herra, Davidin poika, armahda minua: minun tyttäreni vaivataan hirmuisesti perkeleeltä.
23 But he did not answer her a word. His disciples came and pleaded with him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting at us."
Mutta ei hän sanaakaan häntä vastannut. Niin hänen opetuslapsensa tulivat ja rukoilivat häntä, sanoen: eroita häntä sinustas; sillä hän huutaa meidän jälkeemme.
24 But he answered, "I was not sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
Niin hän vastaten sanoi: en ole minä lähetetty, vaan kadotettuin lammasten tykö Israelin huoneesta.
25 But she came and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, help me."
Mutta se tuli ja kumarsi häntä, sanoen: Herra, auta minua.
26 But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
Niin hän vastaten sanoi: ei ole sovelias ottaa lasten leipää ja heittää penikoille.
27 But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."
Niin se vastasi: totta Herra, syövät kuitenkin penikatkin niistä muruista, jotka heidän herrainsa pöydältä putoovat.
28 Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith. Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour.
Silloin Jesus vastaten sanoi hänelle: oi vaimo, suuri on sinun uskos, tapahtukoon sinulle niinkuin sinä tahdot. Ja hänen tyttärensä tuli sillä hetkellä terveeksi.
29 Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.
Ja Jesus läksi sieltä ja tuli Galilean meren tykö, ja astui vuorelle, ja istui siihen.
30 Large crowds came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, crippled, and many others, and they put them down at his feet; and he healed them.
Ja paljo kansaa tuli hänen tykönsä, ja toivat kanssansa ontuvia, sokeita, mykkiä, raajarikkoja ja paljon muita, ja laskivat Jesuksen jalkain eteen; ja hän paransi heidät.
31 So the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, crippled healthy, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
Niin että kansa ihmetteli, kuin he näkivät mykät puhuvan, raajarikot terveinä, ontuvat käyvän ja sokiat näkevän, ja kunnioittivat Israelin Jumalaa.
32 Jesus summoned the disciples and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."
Ja Jesus kutsui opetuslapsensa tykönsä, ja sanoi: minä armahdan kansaa, että he ovat jo kolme päivää minun tykönäni viipyneet, ja ei ole heillä mitään syötävää: ja en minä tahdo heitä tyköäni syömättä laskea pois, ettei he tiellä vaipuisi.
33 Then the disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a crowd?"
Niin sanoivat hänen opetuslapsensa hänelle: kusta me saamme tässä erämaassa niin monta leipää, että me ravitsemme niin paljon kansaa?
34 Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
Ja Jesus sanoi heille: kuinka monta leipää teillä on? He sanoivat: seitsemän, ja vähä kalasia.
35 He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground;
Niin hän käski kansan istua maan päälle atrioitsemaan.
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds.
Ja hän otti ne seitsemän leipää ja kalat, kiitti, mursi ja antoi opetuslapsillensa, ja opetuslapset antoivat kansalle.
37 They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
Ja he söivät kaikki ja ravittiin, ja ottivat ylös mitä liiaksi jäi, seitsemän täysinäistä koria muruja.
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
Mutta niitä jotka söivät, oli neljätuhatta miestä, ilman vaimoja ja lapsia.
39 Then he sent away the crowds, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magadan.
Ja kuin hän oli kansan tyköänsä laskenut, astui hän haahteen, ja tuli Magdalan rajoille.
