Judges 9
1 Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem to his mother's brothers, and spoke with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,
И пойде Авимелех сын Иероваалов в Сихем ко братии матере своея и глагола к ним и ко всему сродству дому отца матере своея, глаголя:
2 "Please speak in the ears of all the lords of Shechem, 'Is it better for you that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you?' Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.'"
глаголите во ушы всех мужей Сихемских: что лучше вам, еже владети вами седмидесяти мужем всем сыном Иеровааловым, или владети вами мужу единому? И помяните, яко кость ваша и плоть ваша есмь аз.
3 And his mother's brothers spoke of him in the ears of all the lords of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, "He is our brother."
И глаголаша братия матере его о нем во ушы всех мужей Сихемских вся словеса сия. И уклонися сердце их вслед Авимелеха, рекоша бо: брат наш есть.
4 They gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal Berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and light fellows, who followed him.
И даша ему седмьдесят сребреник от дому Ваалверифа: и ная ими Авимелех мужей праздных и скитающихся, и поидоша вслед его.
5 He went to his father's house at Ophrah, and killed his brothers the sons of Jerubbaal, being seventy persons, on one stone. But Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.
И вниде в дом отца своего во Ефрафу, и изби братию свою, сыны Иеровааловы, седмьдесят мужей, на камени единем, и остася Иоафам сын Иеровааль юнейший, зане скрыся.
6 And all the lords of Shechem assembled themselves together, and all Beth Millo, and went and made Abimelech king by the oak which is found at the pillar in Shechem.
И собрашася вси мужие Сихемстии и весь дом Маалов, и поидоша, и поставиша Авимелеха царем у дуба стана, иже в Сихемех.
7 And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, "Listen to me, you lords of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
И поведаша Иоафаму, и пойде, и ста на версе горы Гаризин: и воздвиже глас свой, и воззва, и рече им: послушайте мене, мужие Сихемстии, и да услышит вас Бог.
8 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive tree, 'Reign you over us.'
Идуще идоша древа помазати себе царя и реша масличине: буди нам царь.
9 "But the olive tree said to them, 'Should I leave my fatness, with which by me they honor God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?'
И рече им масличина: еда оставивши тучность мою, юже во мне прослави бог и человецы, пойду владети древами?
10 "The trees said to the fig tree, 'Come, and reign over us.'
И рекоша древа смоковнице: прииди, царствуй над нами.
11 "But the fig tree said to them, 'Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?'
И рече им смоковница: еда оставивши мою сладость и плод мой благий, пойду владети древами?
12 "The trees said to the vine, 'Come, and reign over us.'
И рекоша древа к лозе виноградней: прииди, буди нам царь.
13 "The vine said to them, 'Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?'
И рече им лоза виноградная: еда оставивши вино мое, веселящее бога и человеки, пойду владети древами?
14 "Then all the trees said to the bramble, 'Come, and reign over us.'
И рекоша вся древа тернию: прииди, буди нам царь.
15 "The bramble said to the trees, 'If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'
И рече терние ко древам: аще по истине помазуете себе царя мене над вами, приидите и внидите под сень мою: аще ли же ни, да изыдет огнь из терния и пояст кедры Ливанския.
16 "Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands
И ныне аще по истине и по совершенству сотвористе, и постависте Авимелеха царем, и аще благо сотвористе со Иероваалом и с домом его, и аще по воздаянию руки его сотвористе ему,
17 (for my father fought for you, and risked his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:
якоже воева отец мой по вас, и поверже душу свою в страну, и избави вас от руки Мадиамли:
18 and you are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, seventy persons, on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his female servant, king over the lords of Shechem, because he is your brother).
и вы востасте на дом отца моего днесь и избисте сыны его, седмьдесят мужей, на единем камени, и постависте царем Авимелеха сына рабыни его над мужи Сикимскими, яко брат ваш есть:
19 If you then have dealt truly and righteously with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:
и аще по истине и по совершенству сотвористе со Иероваалом и домом его днесь, благословени вы будите, и возвеселитеся о Авимелесе, и той о вас да возвеселится:
20 but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the lords of Shechem, and Beth Millo; and let fire come out from the lords of Shechem, and from Beth Millo, and devour Abimelech."
аще же ни, да изыдет огнь от Авимелеха и пояст мужы Сикимски и дом Мааллонь: и да изыдет огнь от мужей Сикимских и от дому Мааллоня и да пояст Авимелеха.
21 And Jotham escaped and fled and went to Beer and lived there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
И избеже Иоафам, и побеже, и пойде в Виру, и вселися тамо от лица Авимелеха брата своего.
22 Abimelech was prince over Israel three years.
И облада Авимелех во Израили три лета.
23 And God sent a spirit of hostility between Abimelech and the lords of Shechem; and the lords of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
И посла Бог дух зол между Авимелехом и между мужи Сикимскими: и возгнушашася мужие Сикимстии домом Авимелеховым,
24 that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and that their blood might be laid on Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and on the men of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.
еже навести неправду седмидесяти сынов Иероваалих и крови их возложити на Авимелеха брата их, иже уби их, и на мужы Сикимски, яко укрепиша руце его избити братию свою:
25 And the lords of Shechem set an ambush for him on the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all who came along that way by them. And it was told to Abimelech.
и поставиша нань мужие Сикимстии подсады на версех гор, и разграбляху всех идущих к ним на пути. И возвестися сие Авимелеху.
26 And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brothers, and went over to Shechem; and the lords of Shechem put their trust in him.
И прииде Гаал сын Аведов и братия его, и преидоша в Сикиму, и уповаша на него мужие Сикимстии:
27 They went out into the field, and gathered their vineyards, and trod the grapes, and held festival, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.
и изыдоша на село, и обраша винограды своя, и изгнетоша, и сотвориша лики: и ходиша во храм богов своих, и ядоша и пиша, кленуще Авимелеха.
28 Gaal the son of Ebed said, "Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Isn't he the son of Jerubbaal, and Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem. But why should we serve him?
И рече Гаал сын Аведов: кто есть Авимелех, и кто есть сын Сихемль, яко да поработаем ему? Не сын ли Иеровааль, и Зевул страж его раб его с мужи Еммора отца Сихемля? И почто имамы работати ему?
29 Would that this people were under my hand. Then I would remove Abimelech. I would say to Abimelech, "Increase your army, and come out."
И кто даст люди сия в руку мою? И преставлю Авимелеха, и реку ко Авимелеху: умножи силу твою, и изыди.
30 When Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled.
И услыша Зевул князь града словеса Гаала сына Аведова, и разгневася яростию:
31 He sent messengers to Abimelech in Arumah, saying, "Look, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem; and look, they constrain the city to take part against you.
и посла послы ко Авимелеху отай, глаголя: се, Гаал сын Аведов и братия его приидоша в Сихему, и се, сии обседят на тя град:
32 Now therefore, rise up by night, you and the people who are with you, and lie in wait in the field.
и ныне востани нощию ты и людие иже с тобою, и засяди до заутрия на селе:
33 And it shall be that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, you shall rise early, and rush on the city. And look, when he and the people who are with him come out against you, then do whatever you can to them."
и будет рано, егда взыдет солнце, обутрееши и протягнешися ко граду: и се, той и людие иже с ним изыдут к тебе, и сотвориши ему, елико возможет рука твоя.
34 Abimelech rose up, and all the people who were with him, by night, and they lay in wait against Shechem in four companies.
И воста Авимелех и вси людие, иже с ним, нощию, и заседоша на Сихем на четыри части.
35 And it happened early in the morning that Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city. And Abimelech rose up, and the people who were with him, from the ambush.
И бысть заутра, и изыде Гаал сын Аведов и ста пред дверию врат градских. И воста Авимелех и людие, иже с ним, от засады.
36 When Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, "Look, there are people coming down from the tops of the mountains." Zebul said to him, "You see the shadow of the mountains as if they were men."
И виде Гаал сын Аведов люди и рече к Зевулу: се, народ людий исходит с верхов гор. И рече к нему Зевул: стень гор ты видиши яко мужы.
37 Gaal spoke again and said, "Look, there are people coming down by the central part of the land, and one company comes by the way of the Diviners' Oak."
И приложи еще Гаал глаголати и рече: се, людие исходят при мори от высоты земли, и полк един идет путем дубравы Маоненим.
38 Then Zebul said to him, "Where is now your mouth, that you said, 'Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?' Is not this the people that you have despised? Please go out now and fight with them."
И рече к нему Зевул: и где суть ныне уста твоя глаголющая: кто есть Авимелех, яко поработаем ему? Не сии ли суть людие, яже ты уничтожил еси? Изыди убо ныне, и ополчися противу их.
39 And Gaal went out before the lords of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.
И изыде Гаал пред мужы Сихемски, и ополчися противу Авимелеху:
40 Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and there fell many wounded, even to the entrance of the gate of the city.
и погна его Авимелех, и побеже от лица его: и падоша язвеннии мнози даже до врат градских.
41 And Abimelech returned to Arumah; and Zebul drove out Gaal and his brothers, so that they could not dwell in Shechem.
И вниде Авимелех во Ариму: и Зевул изгна Гаала и братию его, да не живут в Сихеме.
42 It happened on the next day, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
И бысть наутрие, и изыдоша и людие на поле, и поведаша Авимелеху:
43 He took the people, and divided them into three companies, and waited in ambush in the field; and he looked, and look, the people came forth out of the city. He rose up against them, and struck them.
и взя людий, и раздели их на три части, и засяде на селе: и виде, и се, людие изыдоша из града, и воста на ня, и изби их.
44 Abimelech, and the companies that were with him, rushed forward, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city: and the two companies rushed against all who were in the field, and struck them.
И Авимелех и началницы, иже с ним, протягошася и сташа у дверий врат градских: и две части пролияшася на вся, яже на селе, и избиша я.
45 Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and killed the people who were in it. And he destroyed the city, and sowed it with salt.
Авимелех же добываше града весь день той, и взя град, и люди иже в нем изби, и разори град, и посея в нем соль.
46 And when all the lords of the Tower of Shechem heard of it, they entered into the stronghold of the house of El Berith.
И услышаша сие вси мужие столпа Сихемля и внидоша в твердь дому (бога) Вефилвериф.
47 And it was told Abimelech that all the lords of the Tower of Shechem were gathered together.
И возвестися Авимелеху, яко собрашася вси мужие столпа Сихемска.
48 So Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people who were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a branch from the trees, and took it up, and laid it on his shoulder. And he said to the people who were with him, "What you have seen me do, do quickly, and do as I have done."
И взыде Авимелех на гору Селмон сам и вси людие, иже с ним: и взя Авимелех секиру в руку свою, и усече ветвь от древа, и воздвиже ю, и возложи на раму свою: и рече людем иже с ним: еже видесте мя творяща, сотворите скоро якоже и аз.
49 All the people likewise cut down his branch and followed Abimelech, and put them on the stronghold, and set the stronghold on fire on them; so that all the men of the Tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
И усекоша вси людие ветвия и взяша, и поидоша вслед Авимелеха, и возложиша на твердыню, и запалиша на них твердыню огнем: и изомроша вси людие столпа Сихемска до тысящи мужей и жен.
50 Then Abimelech went to Thebez, and camped against Thebez, and took it.
И иде Авимелех в Фивис и обсяде его, и взя его:
51 But there was a strong tower within the city, and all the men and women fled, and all the lords of the city, and shut themselves in, and got them up to the roof of the tower.
и столп бе тверд среде града, и вбегоша ту вси мужие и жены и вси старейшины града, и заключишася и взыдоша на кров столпа:
52 Abimelech came to the tower, and fought against it, and drew near to the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
и прииде Авимелех до столпа, и супротивишася ему: и приступи Авимелех ко вратом столпа, еже запалити его огнем:
53 A certain woman threw down an upper millstone on Abimelech's head, and broke his skull.
и сверже жена едина уломок жерновный на главу Авимелеха, и сокруши ему темя:
54 Then he called quickly to the young man his armor bearer, and said to him, "Draw your sword, and kill me, that men not say of me, 'A woman killed him.'" So the young man thrust him through, and he died.
и возопи скоро Авимелех ко отроку носящему сосуды его и рече ему: извлецы мечь твой и убий мя, да не рекут, яко жена уби его. И прободе его отрок его, и умре.
55 When the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man to his place.
И видеша мужие Израилстии, яко умре Авимелех: и отидоша кийждо на свое место.
56 Thus God requited the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did to his father, in killing his seventy brothers;
И воздаде Бог зло Авимелеху, еже сотвори отцу своему, убив седмьдесят братий своих:
57 and all the wickedness of the men of Shechem did God return on their heads, and on them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
и всяку злобу мужей Сихемлих обрати Бог на главы их: и взыде на ня клятва Иоафама сына Иеровааля.
