Judges 3

1 Now these are the nations which YHWH left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

১এখন ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে যাদের কনানের সমস্ত যুদ্ধের বিষয়ে জানা ছিল না, সেই লোকদের পরীক্ষা নেওয়ার জন্য

2 only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it:

২এবং ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের পুরুষপরম্পরাকে শিক্ষা দেবার জন্যে, অর্থাৎ যারা আগে যুদ্ধ জানত না; তাদেরকে তা শেখাবার জন্য সদাপ্রভু এই সব জাতিকে অবশিষ্ট রেখেছিলেন তারা হল

3 namely, the five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath.

৩পলেষ্টীয়দের পাঁচ রাজা, বাল হর্ম্মোণ পর্বত থেকে লিব হমাত ঢোকার রাস্তা পর্যন্ত লিবানোন পর্বতে বসবাসকারী সমস্ত কনানীয়, সীদোনীয় ও হিব্বীয়রা।

4 They were left, to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to the commandments of YHWH, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

৪এরা ইস্রায়েলের পরীক্ষার জন্য, অর্থাৎ সদাপ্রভু তাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে মোশি মাধ্যমে যে সব আজ্ঞা দিয়েছিলেন, সে সব তারা পালন করে কি না, তা যেন জানা যায়।

5 The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hethites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

৫ফলে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা কনানীয়, হিত্তীয়, ইমোরীয়, পরিষীয়, হিব্বীয় ও যিবূষীয়দের মধ্যে বাস করল;

6 and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.

৬আর তারা তাদের মেয়েদের বিয়ে করত, তাদের ছেলেদের সঙ্গে নিজেদের মেয়েদের বিয়ে দিত ও তাদের দেবতাদের সেবা করত।

7 The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH, and forgot YHWH their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth.

৭আর ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যেটা মন্দ, তাই করল ও নিজেদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ভুলে গেল। তারা বাল দেবতাদের ও আশেরা দেবীদের সেবা করল।

8 Therefore the anger of YHWH was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Aram Naharaim; and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.

৮অতএব ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ প্রজ্বলিত হল, আর তিনি অরাম-নহরয়িমের রাজা কূশন রিশিয়াথয়িমের হাতে তাদেরকে বিক্রি করলেন, আর ইস্রায়েলীয়রা আট বছর পর্যন্ত কূশন রিশিয়াথয়িমের দাসত্ব করল।

9 When the children of Israel cried to YHWH, YHWH raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother; and he obeyed him.

৯পরে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কাঁদল এবং সদাপ্রভু এক জনকে উঠালেন যে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সাহায্য ও উদ্ধার করতে পারেন। সে অৎনীয়েল (কনসের ছেলে), কালেবের ছোট ভাই।

10 The Spirit of YHWH came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and YHWH delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim.

১০সদাপ্রভুর আত্মা তাঁর উপরে আসলেন, আর তিনি ইস্রায়েলের বিচার করতে লাগলেন এবং তিনি যুদ্ধের জন্য গেলেন, আর সদাপ্রভু অরাম-রাজ কূশন রিশিয়াথয়িমকে তাঁর হাতে সমর্পণ করলেন; এটা ছিল অৎনীয়েলের ক্ষমতা যা কূশন রিশিয়াথয়িমকে পরাজিত করেছিল।

11 The land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

১১এই ভাবে চল্লিশ বছর পর্যন্ত দেশ শান্তিতে থাকল; পরে কনসের ছেলে অৎনীয়েলের মৃত্যু হল।

12 The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH: and YHWH strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in the sight of YHWH.

১২পরে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যেটা মন্দ, আবার তাই করল; অতএব সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যেটা মন্দ, তা করায় সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে মোয়াব-রাজ ইগ্লোনকে শক্তিশালী করলেন।

13 He gathered to him the people of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.

১৩রাজা ইগ্লোন অম্মোনলেকীয়দেরকে ও অমালেককে একত্র করলেন এবং তারা গিয়ে ইস্রায়েলকে পরাজিত করলেন ও খর্জ্জূরপুর অধিকার করলেন।

14 The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

১৪ইস্রায়েলীয়রা আঠার বছর পর্যন্ত মোয়াব-রাজ ইগ্লোনের দাসত্ব করল।

15 But when the children of Israel cried to YHWH, YHWH raised them up a savior, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a man left-handed. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.

১৫কিন্তু যখন ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কাঁদল; তখন সদাপ্রভু তাদের জন্য একজন উদ্ধারকর্তাকে, বিন্যামীনীয় গেরার ছেলে এহূদকে উঠালেন; তিনি বাঁ হাতে সব কাজ করতেন। ইস্রায়েলীয়রা তাঁর দ্বারা মোয়াব-রাজ ইগ্লোনের কাছে উপহার পাঠালেন।

16 Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, eighteen inches in length; and he girded it under his clothing on his right thigh.

১৬এহূদ নিজের জন্য একহাত লম্বা একটা দুই দিকে ধারযুক্ত তরোয়াল তৈরী করে নিজের ডান উরুর কাপড়ের ভিতরে বেঁধে রাখলেন।

17 He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab: now Eglon was a very fat man.

১৭তিনি মোয়াব-রাজ ইগ্লোনের কাছে উপহার নিয়ে গেলেন; (এই ইগ্লোন অত্যন্ত মোটা লোক ছিলেন।)

18 When he had made an end of offering the tribute, he sent away the people who bore the tribute.

১৮এহূদের উপহার দেওয়া হয়ে গেলে তিনি ঐ উপহার বহনকারীদের বিদায় দিলেন।

19 But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, "I have a secret message for you, O king." The king said, "Keep silence." All who stood by him went out from him.

১৯তিনি নিজে গিল্‌গলে পাথরের তৈরী মূর্তির কাছ থেকে ফিরে এলেন এবং বললেন, “হে রাজা, আপনার জন্য আমার কাছে একটি গোপন কথা আছে।” ইগ্লোন বললেন, “চুপ চুপ!” এবং তাঁর সব সেবকেরা ঘর থেকে বেরিয়ে গেল।

20 Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, "I have a message from God to you, O king." He arose out of his seat.

২০আর এহূদ তাঁর কাছে এলেন; রাজা একাকী নিজের উপর তলার ঠান্ডা ঘরে বসেছিলেন; এহূদ বললেন, আমার কাছে আপনার জন্য ঈশ্বরের একটি বাক্য বলার আছে; রাজা তাঁর নিজের আসন থেকে উঠলেন।

21 And it happened as he rose up that Ehud put forth his left hand and took the sword from his right thigh and thrust it into his belly.

২১তখন এহূদ নিজের বাঁ হাত বাড়িয়ে ডান ঊরু থেকে সেই খড়গ নিয়ে তাঁর শরীরে বিদ্ধ করলেন,

22 And the handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn't draw the sword out of his belly; and it came out behind.

২২আর খড়গের সঙ্গে বাঁটও শরীরে ঢুকে গেল ও খড়গ মেদে আটকে গেল, সেইজন্য তিনি শরীর থেকে খড়গ বের করলেন না; আর তা পিছন দিক দিয়ে বেরিয়ে গেল।

23 Then Ehud went forth into the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.

২৩পরে এহূদ বারান্দায় বেরিয়ে এলেন এবং উপরের ঘরের দরজা বন্ধ করে খিল দিয়ে দিলেন।

24 Now when he was gone out, his servants came; and they saw, and look, the doors of the upper room were locked; and they said, "Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room."

২৪পরে এহূদ চলে গেলে রাজার দাসেরা এল; তারা দেখল উপরের ঘরের দরজা বন্ধ। তারা ভাবল, তিনি নিজে অবশ্যই উপরের ঘরে আরাম করছেন।

25 They waited until they were ashamed; and look, he did not open the doors of the upper room: therefore they took the key, and opened them, and look, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

২৫পরে তারা লজ্জিত হওয়া পর্যন্ত অপেক্ষা করল কিন্তু রাজা উপরের ঘরের দরজা খুলল না। তাই তারা চাবি নিয়ে এসে দরজা খুলল, দেখল তাদের প্রভু মারা গিয়ে মাটিতে পড়ে আছেন।

26 Ehud escaped while they waited, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped to Seirah.

২৬তারা যখন অপেক্ষা করছিল, তখন এহূদ পালিয়ে গেল এবং সেই পাথরের তৈরী মূর্ত্তি ছিল সেখান থেকে সিয়ীরাতে পালিয়ে গেল।

27 It happened, when he had come, that he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he before them.

২৭তিনি উপস্থিত হয়ে পাহাড়ী অঞ্চল ইফ্রয়িম প্রদেশে তূরী বাজালেন। ইস্রায়েলীয়রা তাঁর সঙ্গে পাহাড়ী অঞ্চল থেকে নেমে গেল, তিনি তাদের নেতৃত্ব দিলেন।

28 He said to them, "Follow after me; for YHWH has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand." They went down after him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and did not allow a man to pass over.

২৮তিনি তাদেরকে বললেন, “আমার পিছন পিছন এস, কারণ সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের শত্রু মোয়াবীয়দেরকে পরাজিত করেছেন।” তখন তারা তাঁর পিছন পিছন নেমে এল এবং মোয়াবের বিরুদ্ধে যর্দ্দনের পারঘাটা সব দখল করে নিল এবং কাউকেও নদী পার হতে দিল না।

29 They struck of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, every lusty man, and every man of valor; and there escaped not a man.

২৯ঐ দিনের তারা মোয়াবের অনুমান দশহাজার লোককে হত্যা করল; তারা সব শক্তিশালী এবং সক্ষম পুরুষ ছিল। কেউই রক্ষা পেল না।

30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. Then the land had rest eighty years. And Ehud judged them until he died.

৩০সেই দিন থেকে মোয়াব ইস্রায়েলের শক্তির কাছে পরাজিত হল এবং আশী বছর দেশ শান্তিতে থাকল।

31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who alone struck down six hundred men of the Philistines with an oxgoad. And he also saved Israel.

৩১এহূদের পরে শম্‌গর (অনাতের ছেলে) পরবর্তী শাসক ছিল, তিনি পশুপালন করার লাঠি দিয়ে পলেষ্টীয়দের ছয়শো লোককে হত্যা করলেন; ইনিও ইস্রায়েলকে বিপদ থেকে মুক্ত করলেন।
