Jonah 2
1 Then Jonah prayed to YHWH, his God, out of the fish's belly.
| ויתפלל יונה אל יהוה אלהיו ממעי הדגה׃ |
2 He said, "I called because of my affliction to YHWH. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
| ויאמר קראתי מצרה לי אל יהוה ויענני מבטן שאול שועתי שמעת קולי׃ (Sheol h7585) |
3 For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your breakers and waves passed over me.
| ותשליכני מצולה בלבב ימים ונהר יסבבני כל משבריך וגליך עלי עברו׃ |
4 I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'
| ואני אמרתי נגרשתי מנגד עיניך אך אוסיף להביט אל היכל קדשך׃ |
5 The waters surrounded me, threatening my life. The deep was around me. The end is upon my head.
| אפפוני מים עד נפש תהום יסבבני סוף חבוש לראשי׃ |
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, YHWH my God.
| לקצבי הרים ירדתי הארץ ברחיה בעדי לעולם ותעל משחת חיי יהוה אלהי׃ |
7 "When my soul fainted within me, I remembered YHWH. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
| בהתעטף עלי נפשי את יהוה זכרתי ותבוא אליך תפלתי אל היכל קדשך׃ |
8 Those who regard worthless things forsake their faithfulness.
| משמרים הבלי שוא חסדם יעזבו׃ |
9 But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to YHWH."
| ואני בקול תודה אזבחה לך אשר נדרתי אשלמה ישועתה ליהוה׃ |
10 YHWH spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
| ויאמר יהוה לדג ויקא את יונה אל היבשה׃ |
