John 4
1 Therefore when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard, "Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John"
耶穌一知道法利賽人聽說衪已收徒，施洗比若翰還多─
2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples),
其實耶穌本人並沒有施洗，而是衪的門徒─
3 he left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.
便離開猶太，又往加利肋亞去了。
4 He needed to pass through Samaria.
衪必須途經撒馬黎雅。
5 So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph.
於是到了撒馬黎雅的一座城，名叫息哈爾靠近雅各伯給他的兒子若瑟的莊田，
6 Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
在那裡有「雅各伯泉。」耶穌因行路疲倦，就順便坐在泉傍；那時大約是第六時辰。
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink."
有一個撒馬利亞婦女來汲水，耶穌向她說：「請給我點水喝! 」
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
那時，衪的門徒已往城裏買食物去了。
9 The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, "How can you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
那撒馬黎雅婦女就回答說：「你既是個猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒馬黎雅婦女要水喝呢？」原來，猶太人和撒馬黎雅人不相往來。
10 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."
耶穌回答她說：「若是妳知道天主的恩賜，並知道向妳說：給我水喝的人是誰，妳或許早求了他，而他也早賜給了妳活水。」
11 The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From where do you get that living water?
那婦女問說；「先生，你連汲水器也沒有，而井又深，你從那裏得那活水呢？」
12 Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?"
難道你比我們的祖先還大嗎？他留給了我們這口井，他和他的子孫以及他的牲畜，都曾喝過這井裏的水。」
13 Jesus answered her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
耶穌回答說：「凡喝這水的，還要再渴；
15 The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I do not get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw."
婦人說：「先生，請給我這水吧！ 免得我再渴，也免得我再來這裏汲水。」
16 He said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."
耶穌向她說：「去，叫妳的丈夫，再回這裏來。」
17 The woman answered and said to him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You said well, 'I have no husband,'
那婦人回答說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「妳說：我沒有丈夫，正對!
18 for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly."
因為妳曾有過五個丈夫，而妳現在所有的，也不是妳的丈夫：妳說的這話真對。」
19 The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
婦人向衪說：「先生，我看你是個先知。
20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."
我們的祖先一向在這座山上朝拜天主，你們卻說：應該朝拜天主的地方是在耶路撒冷。」
21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father.
耶穌回答說：「女人，妳相信我罷! 到了時候，你們將不在這座山，也不在耶路撒冷朝拜。
22 You worship that which you do not know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
你們朝拜你們所不認識的，我們朝拜我們所認識的，因為救恩是出自猶太人。
23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.
然而時候要到，且現在就是，那些真正朝拜的人，將以心神以真理拜父，因為父就是尋找這漾理拜衪人。
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
天主是神，理拜衪的人應該以人神以真理去理拜衪。」
25 The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah comes," (he who is called Christ). "When he has come, he will declare to us all things."
婦人說：「我認識默西亞─意即基督─要來，衪一來了，必會告訴我們一切。」
26 Jesus said to her, "I am he, the one who speaks to you."
耶穌向她說：「同妳談話的我就是。」
27 At this, his disciples came. They were surprised that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, "What are you looking for?" or, "Why do you speak with her?"
正在這時，他的門徒回來了，他們就驚奇地同一個婦人談話；但是沒有人問: 「你要什麼？」或: 「你同她談論什麼？」
28 So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people,
於是那婦人撇下自己的水罐，往城裏去向人說: 「
29 "Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?"
你們來看! 有一個人說出了我所作過的一切事: 莫非他就是默西亞嗎？」
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
眾人從城裏出來，往他那裏去。
31 In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, "Rabbi, eat."
其間門徒請求耶穌說: 「辣彼，吃罷！」
32 But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about."
他卻回答說: 「我己有食物吃，那是你們所不知道的。」
33 The disciples therefore said one to another, "Has anyone brought him something to eat?"
門徒便彼此問說: 「難道有人給他送來了吃的嗎？」
34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.
耶穌向他們說: 「我的食物就是承行派遣我者的旨意，完成他的工程。
35 Do you not say, 'There are yet four months until the harvest?' Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes and see the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
你們不是說: 還有四個月才到收穫期嗎？看，我給你們說: 舉起你們的眼，細看田地，莊稼已經發白，可以收割了。
36 He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to everlasting life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
收割的人已領到工資，且為永生收集了果實，如此，撒種的和將和收割的一同喜歡。 (aiōnios g166)
37 For in this the saying is true, 'One sows, and another reaps.'
這正如俗語所說的: 撒種的一人，收割的是另一人。
38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor."
我派遣你們在你們沒有勞過力的地方去收割；別人勞了力，而你們去收獲他們勞苦的成果。」
39 From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, "He told me everything that I did."
城裏有許多撒瑪黎雅人信從了耶穌，因為那婦人作證說: 「他向我說出我所做過的一切。」
40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
這樣，那些撒瑪黎雅人來到耶穌前，請求他在他們那裏住下；耶穌就在那裏住了兩天。
41 Many more believed because of his word.
還有更多的人因著他的講論，信從了他。
42 They said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Savior of the world."
他們向那婦人說: 「現在我們信，不是為了你的話，而是因為我們親自聽見了，並知道他確實是世界的救主。」
43 After the two days he departed from there to Galilee.
過了兩天，耶穌離開那裏，往加里肋亞去了。
44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
耶穌曾親自作證說: 「先知在自己的家鄉決受不到尊榮。」
45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
他一來到加里肋亞，加里肋亞人便接待了他，因為他們也曾上了耶路撒冷去過節，並親眼見了他在慶節中所行的一切。
46 Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
耶穌又來到加利肋亞加納，即他變水為酒的地方，那裏有一位王臣，他的兒子在葛法翁患病。
47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and pleaded with him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was close to death.
這人一聽說耶穌從猶太到加利肋亞來了，就到他那裏去，懇求他下來醫治他的兒子，因為他快要死了。
48 Jesus therefore said to him, "Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe."
耶穌對他說: 「除非你們看到神跡和奇事，你們總是不信。」
49 The nobleman said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies."
那王臣向他說: 「主，在我的小孩未死以前，請你下來罷！」
50 Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your son lives." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
耶穌回答說: 「去罷! 你的兒子活了。」那人信了耶穌向他說的話，便走了。
51 As he was now going down, his servants met him, saying that his son was alive.
他正下去的時候，僕人們迎上他來，說他的兒子活了。
52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, "Yesterday at one in the afternoon, the fever left him."
他問他們孩子病勢好轉的時刻，他們給他說: 「昨天第七時辰，熱就退了。」
53 So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives." He believed, as did his whole house.
親就知道正是耶穌向說: 「他你的兒子活了」的那個時辰；他和他的全家便都信了。
54 This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
這是耶穌從猶太回到加利肋亞後，所行的第二個神跡。
