Job 2
1 Again it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before YHWH, that Satan came also among them to present himself before YHWH.
Doch da geschah's an einem Tage: Die Gottessöhne kamen und stellten vor dem Herrn sich auf; da kam der Satan auch mit ihnen und stellte vor dem Herrn sich auf.
2 YHWH said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered YHWH, and said, "From going back and forth on the earth, and from walking up and down on it."
Da sprach der Herr zum Satan: "Woher kommst du?" Der Satan gab dem Herrn zur Antwort: "Ich komme her von einem Streifzug auf der Erde, von einer Wanderung auf ihr."
3 YHWH said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly to his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause."
Da sprach der Herr zum Satan: "Hast du bemerkt, daß Job, mein Knecht, nicht seinesgleichen auf der Erde hat, ein Mann, so fromm und recht, so gottesfürchtig und dem Bösen feind, und noch hält er an seiner Frömmigkeit so fest. Du hast mich grundlos aufgereizt, ihn so zu quälen."
4 Then Satan answered YHWH, and said, "Skin for skin. Indeed, all that a man has he will give for his life.
Da sprach zum Herrn der Satan: "Ja Leib für Leib! Selbst alles, was ein Mann besitzt, das gibt er für sich selber hin.
5 But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face."
Doch führe einmal einen Schlag und rühr an sein Gebein und Fleisch, ob er nicht ins Gesicht hinein Dich 'segnet'!"
6 YHWH said to Satan, "Look, he is in your power. Only preserve his life."
Da sprach der Herr zum Satan: "Nun wohl, er sei in deiner Hand! Nur schone mir sein Leben!"
7 So Satan went forth from the presence of YHWH, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.
Da ging vom Herrn der Satan weg und schlug den Job mit einem schrecklichen Geschwür vom Kopfe bis zum Fuß.
8 And he took for himself a potsherd to scrape himself with while he sat among the ashes.
Er nahm sich eine Scherbe, um sich damit zu schaben, und saß dabei im Aschenhaufen.
9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold firmly to your integrity? Curse God, and die."
Da sprach sein Weib zu ihm: "Noch hältst du fest an deiner Frömmigkeit? Nun 'segne' Gott und stirb!"
10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we indeed accept good at the hand of God, and shall we not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Er aber sprach zu ihr: "Wie unvernünftige Weiber reden, so redest du. Ja, sollen wir allein das Gute von Gott annehmen, dagegen nicht das Schlimmste?" Bei alldem hatte Job mit seinen Lippen nicht gesündigt.
11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come on him, they each came from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and to comfort him.
Drei Freunde Jobs vernahmen von all dem Unglück, das auf ihn gekommen; da machten sie sich auf, ein jeglicher von seinem Wohnort, von Teman Eliphaz, Bildad von Schuach, von Naama Sophar, und sie bestellten sich zusammen, um zu gehen, ihm ihr Beileid zu bezeugen und ihn zu trösten.
12 When they lifted up their eyes from a distance, and did not recognize him, they raised their voices, and wept; and they each tore his robe, and threw dust in the air over their heads.
Doch wie sie ihre Augen von ferne erhoben, erkannten sie ihn nicht. Sie fingen laut zu weinen an, zerrissen jeglicher sein Kleid und streuten Staub sich himmelwärts aufs Haupt.
13 So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
Sie saßen auf der Erde so bei ihm wohl sieben Tage, sieben Nächte, und keiner sprach ein Wort zu ihm; sie sahen. Das Leid war furchtbar groß.
