Job 12
1 Then Job answered,
Respondió Job y dijo:
2 "No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
“De veras, vosotros sois hombres, y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn't know such things as these?
También yo tengo seso como vosotros; ninguna ventaja tenéis sobre mí; ¿y quién no sabe lo que decís?
4 I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke.
¡Ludibrio soy de mis amigos! ¡Yo, que clamaba a Dios, y Él le respondía! ¡Yo, el recto e inocente, ahora objeto de oprobio!
5 In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips.
¡Ignominia al que sufre! —así piensa el que vive sin cuidados—. ¡Caiga desprecio sobre aquel cuyo pie resbala!
6 The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.
Las guaridas de los salteadores gozan de paz, seguros están los que irritan a Dios; a ellos Dios se lo otorga (todo).
7 "But ask the animals, now, and they shall teach you; the birds of the sky, and they shall tell you.
Pregunta, te ruego, a las bestias, y ellas te enseñarán, a las aves del cielo, y te lo dirán;
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach you. The fish of the sea shall declare to you.
o habla con la tierra, y ella te instruirá; te lo contarán los peces del mar.
9 Who doesn't know that in all these, the hand of YHWH has done this,
¿Quién de todos estos seres no sabe que la mano de Yahvé ha hecho (todas) las cosas?
10 in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all humankind?
En su mano está el alma de todo viviente, y el soplo de toda carne humana.
11 Doesn't the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?
¿No se ha hecho el oído para discernir las palabras; el paladar para gustar los manjares?
12 With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.
En los ancianos reside la sabiduría, y en la larga vida la prudencia;
13 "With him is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.
con Él, empero, están la sabiduría y el poder, suyo es el consejo y suya la inteligencia.
14 Look, he breaks down, and it can't be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.
Lo que Él derriba, no será reedificado; si Él encierra al hombre, no hay quien lo libre.
15 Look, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.
Si detiene las aguas, estas se secan; si las suelta, devastan la tierra.
16 With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.
En Él están el poder y el saber, suyos son el engañado y el que engaña.
17 He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.
Él hace andar a los consejeros privados (de consejo), y entontece a los jueces.
18 He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.
Él quita a los reyes la faja, y les ciñe los lomos, con una soga.
19 He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
Hace andar a los sacerdotes descalzos, y a los grandes derriba.
20 He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.
Quita el habla a los más respetados, y a los ancianos los priva del juicio.
21 He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
Vacía desprecio sobre los príncipes, y afloja el cinto de los fuertes.
22 He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.
Descubre lo oculto en las tinieblas, y saca a luz la sombra de la muerte.
23 He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.
Da prosperidad a los pueblos y los destruye, dilata a las naciones, y las reduce.
24 He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
Quita la inteligencia a los príncipes de los pueblos de la tierra, y los hace vagar por un desierto sin camino;
25 They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
andan a tientas en tinieblas, sin tener luz; Él los hace errar como a embriagados.”
