< Jeremiah 45 >
1 The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
Verbum, quod locutus est Ieremias propheta ad Baruch filium Neriae, cum scripsisset verba haec in libro ex ore Ieremiae, anno quarto Ioakim filii Iosiae regis Iuda, dicens:
2 "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:
Haec dicit Dominus Deus Israel ad te Baruch:
3 'You said, "Woe is me now. For YHWH has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'"
Dixisti: Vae misero mihi, quoniam addidit Dominus dolorem dolori meo: laboravi in gemitu meo, et requiem non inveni.
4 "You shall tell him, 'Thus says YHWH: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.
Haec dicit Dominus: Sic dices ad eum: Ecce quos aedificavi, ego destruo: et quos plantavi, ego evello, et universam terram hanc.
5 Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says YHWH; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"
Et tu quaeris tibi grandia? noli quaerere: quia ecce ego adducam malum super omnem carnem, ait Dominus: et dabo tibi animam tuam in salutem in omnibus locis, ad quaecumque perrexeris.
