Jeremiah 37
1 Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ മകനായ കൊന്യാവിന്നു പകരം യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു രാജാവായി; അവനെ ബാബേൽരാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസർ യെഹൂദാദേശത്തു രാജാവാക്കിയിരുന്നു.
2 But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the words of YHWH, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
എന്നാൽ അവനാകട്ടെ അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരാകട്ടെ ദേശത്തിലെ ജനമാകട്ടെ യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനങ്ങളെ കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചില്ല.
3 Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, "Pray now to YHWH our God for us."
സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹൂഖലിനെയും മയസേയാവിന്റെ മകനായ സെഫന്യാപുരോഹിതനെയും യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു: നീ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പക്ഷവാദം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
4 Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.
യിരെമ്യാവിന്നോ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ വരത്തുപോക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവനെ തടവിലാക്കിയിരുന്നില്ല.
5 Pharaoh's army had come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.
ഫറവോന്റെ സൈന്യം മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്ന വൎത്തമാനം യെരൂശലേമിനെ നിരോധിച്ചുപാൎത്ത കല്ദയർ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ യെരൂശലേമിനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
6 Then came the word of YHWH to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
അന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
7 "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, 'You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: "Look, Pharaoh's army, which has come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ച യെഹൂദാരാജാവിനോടു നിങ്ങൾ പറയേണ്ടതു: നിങ്ങൾക്കു സഹായത്തിന്നായി പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഫറവോന്റെ സൈന്യം തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശമായ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും.
8 The Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire."
കല്ദയരോ മടങ്ങിവന്നു ഈ നഗരത്തോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും.
9 Thus says YHWH, "Do not deceive yourselves, saying, 'The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us'; for they shall not depart.
യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: കല്ദയർ നിശ്ചയമായിട്ടു നമ്മെ വിട്ടുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ വിഞ്ചിക്കരുതു; അവർ വിട്ടുപോകയില്ല.
10 For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yes would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire."'"
നിങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്യുന്ന കല്ദയരുടെ സൎവ്വ സൈന്യത്തേയും നിങ്ങൾ തോല്പിച്ചിട്ടു, മുറിവേറ്റ ചിലർ മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നാലും അവർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ നിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റുവന്നു ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും.
11 It happened that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,
ഫറവോന്റെ സൈന്യംനിമിത്തം കല്ദയരുടെ സൈന്യം യെരൂശലേമിനെ വിട്ടുപോയപ്പോൾ
12 then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.
യിരെമ്യാവു ബെന്യാമീൻദേശത്തു ചെന്നു സ്വജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ തന്റെ ഓഹരി വാങ്ങുവാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
13 When he was in the Benjamin Gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "You are falling away to the Chaldeans."
അവൻ ബെന്യാമീൻവാതില്ക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ, അവിടത്തെ കാവല്ക്കാരുടെ അധിപതിയായി ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യിരീയാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ളവൻ യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെ പിടിച്ചു: നീ കല്ദയരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേരുവാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 Then Jeremiah said, "It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans." But he did not listen to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the officials.
അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു: അതു നേരല്ല, ഞാൻ കല്ദയരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേരുവാനല്ല പോകുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യിരീയാവു അതു കൂട്ടാക്കാതെ യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.
15 And the officials were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ യിരെമ്യാവോടു കോപിച്ചു അവനെ അടിച്ചു രായസക്കാരനായ യോനാഥാന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ തടവിൽ വെച്ചു; അതിനെ അവർ കാരാഗൃഹമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.
16 When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവു കുണ്ടറയിലെ നിലവറകളിൽ ആയി അവിടെ ഏറെനാൾ പാൎക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു.
17 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, "Is there any word from YHWH?" Jeremiah said, "There is." He said also, "You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon."
അനന്തരം സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു അവനെ വരുത്തി: യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്നു വല്ല അരുളപ്പാടും ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു രാജാവു അരമനയിൽവെച്ചു അവനോടു രഹസ്യമായി ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു: ഉണ്ടു; നീ ബാബേൽരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah, "Wherein have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
പിന്നെ യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ആക്കുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടോ നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടോ ഈ ജനത്തോടോ എന്തു കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു.
19 Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
ബാബേൽരാജാവു നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെയും ഈ ദേശത്തിന്റെ നേരെയും വരികയില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രവചിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ഇപ്പോൾ എവിടെ?
20 Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my petition be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there."
ആകയാൽ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, കേൾക്കേണമേ! എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ തിരുമനസ്സുകൊണ്ടു കൈക്കൊള്ളേണമേ! ഞാൻ രായസക്കാരനായ യോനാഥാന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കിടന്നു മരിക്കാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ വീണ്ടും അവിടെ അയക്കരുതേ.
21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
അപ്പോൾ സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു: യിരെമ്യാവെ കാവൽപുരമുറ്റത്തു ഏല്പിപ്പാനും നഗരത്തിൽ ആഹാരം തീരെ ഇല്ലാതാകുംവരെ അപ്പക്കാരുടെ തെരുവിൽനിന്നു ദിവസംപ്രതി ഒരു അപ്പം അവന്നു കൊടുപ്പാനും കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ യിരെമ്യാവു കാവൽപുരമുറ്റത്തു പാൎത്തു.
