< Jeremiah 30 >

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from YHWH, saying,
The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying: —
2 "Thus speaks YHWH, the God of Israel, saying, 'Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a scroll.
Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Write thee all the words which I have spoken to thee in a book.
3 For, look, the days come, says YHWH, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah,' says YHWH; 'and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.'"
For behold the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will bring back the captives of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah, and cause them to return to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4 These are the words that YHWH spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
And these are the words which Jehovah spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
5 For thus says YHWH: "We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.
Behold, thus saith Jehovah: The voice of trembling do we hear; There is alarm, and no peace.
6 Ask now, and see whether a man does travail with child: why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
Ask ye now and see, Whether a male doth bring forth? Why then do I see every man's hands upon his loins, like a woman in travail? And why are all faces turned into paleness?
7 Alas, for that day is great, so that none is like it. It is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Alas! that day is great, So that there is none like it; It is a time of trouble for Jacob, Yet shall he be saved from it.
8 It shall come to pass in that day," says YHWH of hosts, "that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds; and strangers shall no more make him their bondservant;
For in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will break his yoke from his neck, And his bands will I burst asunder, And he shall be subject to strangers no more.
9 but they shall serve YHWH their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them.
But they shall serve Jehovah, their God, And David, their king, whom I will raise up for them.
10 Therefore do not be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says YHWH; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, look, I will save you from afar, and your descendants from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith Jehovah, And be not thou dismayed, O Israel! For, behold, I will bring thee safe from afar, And thy posterity from the land of their captivity; And Jacob shall return, and be at rest; Yea, he shall be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
11 For I am with you, says YHWH, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished."
For I will be with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee; When I shall make a full end of all the nations Whither I have dispersed thee, Yet will I not make a full end of thee; I will correct thee in measure, Yet must I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
12 For thus says YHWH, "Your hurt is incurable, and your wound grievous.
For thus saith Jehovah: Thy bruise is incurable; Thy wound is mortal.
13 There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines.
No one offereth his help for thy cure; No healing medicines are applied to thee.
14 All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.
All thy lovers have forgotten thee; They inquire not after thee. For with the wound of an enemy have I smitten thee, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of thine iniquities, Because thy sins were increased.
15 Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable: for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.
Why criest thou because of thy bruise? Thy pain is without remedy. For the multitude of thine iniquities, Because thy sins were increased, Have I done these things to thee.
16 Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; and all your adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; and those who plunder you shall be plundered, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.
Yet all they that devour thee shall be devoured, And all thine enemies, yea, all of them, shall go into captivity, And they that spoil thee shall become a spoil, And all that plunder thee will I give up to plunder.
17 For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds," says YHWH; "because they have called you an outcast, saying, 'It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.'"
For I will restore soundness to thee, And I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith Jehovah; For they have called thee the outcast, Zion, whom no man careth for.
18 Thus says YHWH: "Look, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built on its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited in its own way.
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring back the captives of the tents of Jacob, And I will have pity upon his dwelling-places, And the city shall be builded upon her heap, And the palace shall be inhabited as of old.
19 Out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
And out of them shall go forth thanksgiving, And the voice of them that make merry. And I will multiply them, and they shall not be few, And I will exalt them, and they shall not be low.
20 Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before me; and I will punish all who oppress them.
And their children shall be as aforetime, And their congregation shall be established before me, And I will punish all that oppress them.
21 Their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from their midst; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me: for who is he who has had boldness to approach to me? says YHWH.
And their princes shall be of themselves, And their governor shall proceed from the midst of them. And I will cause them to approach, and they shall come near to me; For who is he that would dare to come near to me? saith Jehovah.
22 You shall be my people, and I will be your God.
And ye shall be my people, And I will be your God.
23 Look, the storm of YHWH, his wrath, has gone forth, a sweeping storm: it shall burst on the head of the wicked.
Behold, a whirlwind from Jehovah, Furious doth it go forth, Even a sweeping whirlwind; Upon the head of the wicked shall it rush.
24 The fierce anger of YHWH will not return, until he has executed, and until he has performed the intentions of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it.
The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not turn back Until he shall have executed, until he shall have accomplished, the purpose of his heart; In a future day ye shall understand it fully.
