James 5
1 Come now, you rich, weep and cry aloud for your miseries that are coming on you.
Or maintenant, vous riches, pleurez, et poussez de grands cris à cause des malheurs, qui s’en vont tomber sur vous.
2 Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
Vos richesses sont pourries; vos vêtements sont rongés par les vers.
3 Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
Votre or et votre argent sont rouillés, et leur rouille sera en témoignage [contre] vous, et dévorera votre chair comme le feu; vous avez amassé un trésor pour les derniers jours.
4 Look, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.
Voici, le salaire des ouvriers qui ont moissonné vos champs, [et] duquel ils ont été frustrés par vous, crie; et les cris de ceux qui ont moissonné, sont parvenus aux oreilles du Seigneur des armées.
5 You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.
Vous avez vécu dans les délices sur la terre, vous vous êtes livrés aux voluptés, [et] vous avez rassasié vos cœurs comme en un jour de sacrifices.
6 You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He does not resist you.
Vous avez condamné, [et] mis à mort le juste, [qui] ne vous résiste point.
7 Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Look, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.
Or donc, mes frères, attendez patiemment jusqu'à la venue du Seigneur; voici, le laboureur attend le fruit précieux de la terre, patientant, jusqu'à ce qu'il reçoive la pluie de la première, et de la dernière saison.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.
Vous [donc] aussi attendez patiemment, [et] affermissez vos cœurs; car la venue du Seigneur est proche.
9 Do not grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door.
Mes frères, ne vous plaignez point les uns des autres, afin que vous ne soyez point condamnés; voilà, le juge se tient à la porte.
10 Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Mes frères, prenez pour un exemple d'affliction et de patience les Prophètes qui ont parlé au Nom du Seigneur.
11 Look, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Voici, nous tenons pour bienheureux ceux qui ont souffert; vous avez appris [quelle a été] la patience de Job, et vous avez vu la fin du Seigneur; car le Seigneur est plein de compassion, et pitoyable.
12 But above all things, my brothers, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your "yes" be "yes," and your "no," "no;" so that you do not fall under judgment.
Or sur toutes choses, mes frères, ne jurez ni par le Ciel, ni par la terre, ni par quelque autre serment; mais que votre oui soit Oui, et votre non, Non: afin que vous ne tombiez point dans la condamnation.
13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises.
y a-t-il quelqu'un parmi vous qui souffre? qu'il prie. Y en a-t-il quelqu'un qui ait l'esprit content? qu'il psalmodie.
14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Y a-t-il quelqu'un parmi vous qui soit malade? qu’il appelle les Anciens de l'Eglise, et qu'ils prient pour lui, et qu'ils l’oignent d'huile au Nom du Seigneur.
15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Et la prière faite avec foi sauvera le malade, et le Seigneur le relèvera; et s'il a commis des péchés, ils lui seront pardonnés.
16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Confessez vos fautes l'un à l'autre, et priez l'un pour l'autre; afin que vous soyez guéris; car la prière du juste faite avec véhémence est de grande efficace.
17 Elijah was a human being with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
Elie était un homme sujet à de semblables infirmités que nous, et cependant ayant prié avec grande instance qu'il ne plût point, il ne tomba point de pluie sur la terre durant trois ans et six mois.
18 He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.
Et ayant encore prié, le Ciel donna de la pluie, et la terre produisit son fruit.
19 My brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
Mes frères, si quelqu'un d'entre vous s'égare de la vérité, et que quelqu'un l'y ramène;
20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
Qu'il sache que celui qui aura ramené un pécheur de son égarement, sauvera une âme de la mort, et couvrira une multitude de péchés.
