Hebrews 3
1 Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus;
Ngakho-ke, bafowethu abangcwele, abahlanganyela ekubizweni ezulwini, bekani imicabango yenu kuJesu, umpostoli lomphristi omkhulu esimvumayo.
2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also was Moses in his house.
Wathembeka kulowo owambekayo, njengoMosi owayethembekile kuyo yonke indlu kaNkulunkulu.
3 For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, just as he who built the house has more honor than the house.
UJesu ufunyenwe efanele udumo olukhulu kuloMosi njengomakhi wendlu elodumo olukhulu kulendlu yona ngokwayo.
4 For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God.
Ngoba yileyo laleyondlu yakhiwa ngumuntu othize kodwa uNkulunkulu ungumakhi wezinto zonke.
5 Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken,
“UMosi wayethembekile njengenceku kuyo yonke indlu kaNkulunkulu,” efakaza lokho okwakuzatshiwo ensukwini ezizayo.
6 but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope.
Kodwa uKhristu uthembekile njengendodana endlini kaNkulunkulu. Njalo thina siyindlu yakhe nxa sibambelela ngesibindi langethemba lethu esizincoma ngakho.
7 Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice,
Ngakho, njengoba uMoya oNgcwele esithi: “Lamuhla nxa lisizwa ilizwi lakhe,
8 do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
lingazenzi zibe lukhuni inhliziyo zenu, njengelakwenza ekuhlamukeni, ngesikhathi sokulingwa enkangala,
9 where your fathers tested me and challenged me, and saw my works for forty years.
lapho okhokho benu abangihlola khona bangilinga, babona engakwenzayo okweminyaka engamatshumi amane.
10 Therefore I was displeased with this generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart, but they did not know my ways;'
Yikho-nje ngasithukuthelela isizukulwane leso, njalo ngathi, ‘Inhliziyo zabo zihlezi ziduka, njalo kabazazanga izindlela zami.’
11 as I swore in my wrath, 'They will not enter into my rest.'"
Ngakho ngamemezela ngesifungo ekuthukutheleni kwami ngathi, ‘Kabayikungena ekuphumuleni kwami.’”
12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God;
Bonani bazalwane ukuthi kakho omunye wenu olenhliziyo yokona lokungakholwa, ephambukayo kuNkulunkulu ophilayo.
13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called "today;" lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Kodwa khuthazanani insuku zonke kusabizwa ngokuthi lamuhla, ukuze angabikhona owenu oba lukhuni ngenxa yokukhohliswa yisono.
14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end:
Ngoba sesingabahlanganyelayo kuKhristu nxa sibambelele ngokuqina kuze kuphele ithemba esasilalo kuqala.
15 while it is said, "Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion."
Njengoba kutshiwo ukuthi: “Lamuhla nxa lisizwa ilizwi lakhe, lingazenzi zibe lukhuni inhliziyo zenu njengelakwenzayo ekuhlamukeni.”
16 For who, when they heard, rebelled? No, did not all those who came out of Egypt by Moses?
Babengobani labo abezwayo basebehlamuka na? Akusibo yini bonke labo uMosi abakhupha eGibhithe na?
17 With whom was he displeased forty years? Was not it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
Njalo ngobani ayebathukuthelele okweminyaka engamatshumi amane na? Akusibo yini labo abonayo, abazidumbu zabo zawela enkangala na?
18 To whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?
Ngobani uNkulunkulu abafungela ukuthi kabayikungena ekuphumuleni kwakhe nxa kungayisibo labo abangalalelanga na?
19 We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.
Ngakho siyabona ukuthi babengeke bangene ngenxa yokungakholwa kwabo.
