Hebrews 12
1 Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
So lasset denn nun auch uns, da wir eine solche Wolke von Zeugen vor uns haben, ablegen alle Beschwerung und die Sünde, die immer zur Hand ist, und in Beharrlichkeit laufen in dem Wettkampf, der uns obliegt,
2 looking to Jesus, the founder and completer of the faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
indem wir sehen auf den Führer und Vollender des Glaubens Jesus, der statt der Freude, die vor ihm lag, das Kreuz auf sich nahm, ohne der Schande zu achten, und hat sich gesetzt zur Rechten des Thrones Gottes.
3 For consider him who has endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you may not become tired and give up.
Denket doch an den, der solches Widersprechen gegen sich erduldet hat von den Sündern, damit ihr nicht müdet werdet durch inneres Verzagen.
4 You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your struggle against sin;
Ihr habt im Kampf wider die Sünde noch nicht bis aufs Blut Widerstand geleistet,
5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, "My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor lose heart when you are corrected by him.
und ihr konntet den Zuspruch vergessen, worin zu euch als zu Söhnen geredet wird: Mein Sohn, achte die Zucht des Herrn nicht gering und lasse nicht nach, wenn du von ihm gerügt wirst;
6 For whom the Lord loves he disciplines, and punishes every son he accepts."
denn wen der Herr lieb hat, den züchtigt er; er geißelt jeden Sohn, den er annimmt.
7 If you are enduring discipline, God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
Haltet aus für die Zucht; Gott hält sich zu euch als zu Söhnen; denn wo ist der Sohn, den der Vater nicht züchtigt?
8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not sons.
Wenn ihr ohne Zucht seid, an welcher sie alle Teilgehabt, so seid ihr ja unecht und keine Söhne.
9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we paid them respect. Should we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?
Ferner, wir sind unter der Zucht unserer Väter nach dem Fleisch gestanden und haben uns gefügt: sollen wir uns nicht vielmehr dem Vater der Geister unterordnen, um zu leben?
10 For they indeed, for a few days, disciplined us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.
jene haben für wenige Tage nach ihrem Gutdünken Zucht an uns geübt, er aber für den guten Zweck, daß wir Anteil bekommen an seiner Heiligkeit.
11 All discipline seems for the moment painful, not joyful; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.
Denn alle Zucht dünkt für den Augenblick nicht zur Freude sondern zur Traurigkeit zu sein; nachdem aber gibt sie denen, die dadurch geschult sind, friedvolle Frucht der Gerechtigkeit.
12 Therefore, lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,
Darum richtet die schlaffen Hände und die wankenden Knie gerade,
13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that which is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
und suchet für eure Füße die rechten Geleise, daß das Lahme nicht ausgleite, sondern vielmehr geheilt werde.
14 Pursue peace with everyone, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord,
Trachtet nach Frieden mit allen und nach der Heiligung, ohne welche niemand den Herrn sehen wird;
15 looking carefully lest there be anyone who falls short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by it many become defiled;
und habet acht, daß nicht einer von der Gnade Gottes zurückweichend, daß nicht einer als Wurzel der Bitterkeit heraufwachsend zur Beschwerung werde, dadurch viele befleckt werden,
16 that there be no sexually immoral or profane person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for one meal.
daß nicht einer ein Unzüchtiger sei, oder ein Verworfener wie Esau, der um eine Speise seine Erstgeburtsrechte dahin gab;
17 For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.
denn ihr wisset, daß er zwar nachmals des Segens Erbe begehrte, aber abgewiesen ward. Denn er fand keinen Raum zur Reue, obwohl er sie mit Thränen suchte.
18 For you have not come to something that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and darkness, gloom, and storm,
Denn ihr seid nicht herzugekommen zu einem betastbaren Berge, brennend im Feuer, zu Nebel, Finsternis, Sturm,
19 the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,
Trompetenklang und Wörterschall, wo die Hörer sich verbaten, daß das Wort an sie gerichtet werde,
20 for they could not stand that which was commanded, "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned;"
denn sie ertrugen die Verordnung nicht: auch wenn ein Tier den Berg berührt, soll es gesteinigt werden,
21 and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, "I am terrified and trembling."
und - so schrecklich war die Erscheinung - Moses sprach: ich bin voll Furcht und Zittern.
22 But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,
Sondern ihr seid herzugekommen zu dem Berge Sion und der Stadt des lebendigen Gottes, dem himmlischen Jerusalem, und Myriaden von Engeln, einer Festversammlung
23 to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect,
und Gemeinde von Erstgeborenen, die im Himmel angeschrieben sind, und Gott dem Richter aller, und den Geistern der vollendeten Gerechten
24 to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.
und dem Mittler des neuen Bundes Jesus, und dem Blut der Besprengung, das da stärker redet, denn Abels.
25 See that you do not refuse him who speaks. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,
Sehet zu, daß ihr den, der da redet, nicht verschmähet; denn wenn jene nicht entkamen, die den verschmäht hatten, welcher auf Erden seinen Spruch gab, so trifft das vielmehr bei uns zu, wenn wir dem vom Himmel ausweichen,
26 whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, "Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens."
dessen Stimme damals die Erde erschütterte, jetzt aber ist von ihm das Wort verkündet: noch einmal will ich erschüttern nicht die Erde nur, sondern auch den Himmel.
27 This phrase, "Yet once more," signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
Das noch einmal aber zeigt an, daß das Erschütterte als ein geschaffenes verwandelt wird, damit das bleibe, das nicht erschüttert wird.
28 So since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, through which we may offer service pleasing to God, with reverence and awe,
Darum, da wir ein unerschütterliches Reich empfangen, lasset uns dankbar sein, wodurch wir Gott wohlgefällig dienen, mit Scheu und Furcht;
29 for our God is a consuming fire.
denn unser Gott ist ein verzehrend Feuer.
