Ezra 4
1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the people from the exile were building a temple to YHWH, the God of Israel;
೧ಸೆರೆಯಿಂದ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಂದಿರವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂತು.
2 then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of ancestral houses, and said to them, "Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as you do; and we sacrifice to him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here."
೨ಆಗ ಅವರು ಜೆರುಬ್ಬಾಬೆಲನ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಗೋತ್ರಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೂ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ, ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮಂತೆ ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಭಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದಿರಿಸಿದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಏಸರ್ಹದ್ದೋನನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ನಾವು ಆತನಿಗೇ ಯಜ್ಞಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of ancestral houses of Israel, said to them, "You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to YHWH, the God of Israel, as king Koresh the king of Persia has commanded us."
೩ಆಗ ಜೆರುಬ್ಬಾಬೆಲ್, ಯೇಷೂವ ಮತ್ತು ಬೇರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಗೋತ್ರಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಸೇರಲೇ ಕೂಡದು. ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ದೇಶದ ರಾಜನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನಿಂದ ನಮಗಾದ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ನಾವೇ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
೪ಆಗ ಆ ದೇಶನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಧೈರ್ಯಗುಂದಿಸಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಕಟ್ಟದ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆದರಿಸಿದರು. ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹಣಕೊಟ್ಟು ವಕೀಲರನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.
5 and hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Koresh king of Persia, even until the reign of Daryavesh king of Persia.
೫ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ರಾಜನಾದ ಕೋರೆಷನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ರಾಜನಾದ ದಾರ್ಯಾವೆಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಇದು ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಿತು.
6 In the reign of Achashyerosh, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
೬ಅಹಷ್ವೇರೋಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಆಪಾದನೆಯ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಬರೆದರು.
7 In the days of Artachshasta wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, to Artachshasta king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic, and set forth in the Aramaic language.
೭ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷ್ಲಾಮ್, ಮಿತ್ರದಾತ, ಟಾಬೆಯೇಲ್ ಈ ಮೊದಲಾದವರು ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ರಾಜನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನಿಗೆ ಬರೆದರು. ಆ ಪತ್ರವು ಅರಾಮ್ಯ ಲಿಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಅರಾಮ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇತ್ತು.
8 Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artachshasta the king as follows:
೮ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ರೆಹೂಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶಿಂಷೈ ಇವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ಕಾಗದವನ್ನು ಬರೆದು ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
9 [From] Rehum the commander, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,
೯ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ, ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ರೆಹೂಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶಿಂಷೈ ಇವರೂ ಇವರ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರಾದ ದಿನಾಯರು, ಅಪರ್ಸತ್ಕಾಯರು, ಟರ್ಪಲಾಯರು, ಅಪಾರ್ಸಾಯರು, ಯೆರೆಕ್ಯರು, ಬಾಬಿಲೋನಿನವರು, ಶೂಷನಿನವರು, ದೆಹಾಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಏಲಾಮ್ಯರು.
10 and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River.
೧೦ಇವರೂ ಮಹಾಶ್ರೀಮತ್ ಆಸೆನಪ್ಪರನು ಕರತಂದು ಸಮಾರ್ಯ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಳೆಯ ಈಚೆಗಿರುವ ಬೇರೆ ಊರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿದ ಇತರ ಜನರು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಶಿರೋಲೇಖ.
11 This is the copy of the letter that they sent to Artachshasta the king: Your servants the men beyond the River. And now,
೧೧ಅವರು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಪತ್ರದ ಸಾರಾಂಶ ಹೀಗಿತ್ತು, “ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತ ರಾಜರಿಗೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಈಚೆಯವರು.
12 be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from you have come to us to Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and wicked city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.
೧೨ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ರಾಜಕಂಟಕವಾದ ಆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನೂ, ಅದರ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನೂ ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಯ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರವನ್ನು ಜೀರ್ಣೋದ್ಧಾರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ನಾವು ತಮಗೆ ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ.
13 Be it known now to the king that if this city is built, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings.
೧೩ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಂಡರೆ ಅವರು ಕಪ್ಪ, ತೆರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಂಕಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾವತಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರಿಂದ ಅರಸರಿಗೆ ನಷ್ಟವುಂಟಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿ.
14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not appropriate for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore have we sent and informed the king;
೧೪ನಾವಂತು ಅರಮನೆಯ ಉಪ್ಪನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವವರಾದುದರಿಂದ ಅರಸರಿಗೆ ಅಪಮಾನವುಂಟಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಅರಸರಿಗೆ ಈ ಪತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕವಾಗಿ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
15 that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: so you shall find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time; for which cause was this city laid waste.
೧೫ಈ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ತಾವು ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆತಾತಂದಿರ ಚರಿತ್ರಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೋಧಿಸಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತ ಎಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ. ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ರಾಜಕಂಟಕವಾದ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು. ಅರಸರಿಗೂ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಿಗೂ ತೊಂದರೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುವಂಥದು, ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೇ ದಂಗೆಯೆಬ್ಬಿಸುವಂಥದು ಎಂಬುದೂ ಆ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ನೆಲಸಮವಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಆ ಚರಿತ್ರಾ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
16 We inform the king that, if this city be built, and the walls finished, by this means you shall have no portion beyond the River.
೧೬ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಗೋಡೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಾದರೆ ತಮಗೆ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಅಂಗುಲವೂ ಉಳಿಯದು ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅರಸರಿಗೆ ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂಬುದೇ.”
17 Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions who dwell in Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River: Peace, and so forth.
೧೭ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಉತ್ತರವು, “ದೇಶಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ರೆಹೂಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶಿಂಷೈ ಇವರಿಗೂ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರಿಗೂ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇತರರಿಗೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಕುಶಲಕ್ಷೇಮಗಳ ಅಭಿಲಾಷೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
18 The letter which you sent to us has been plainly read before me.
೧೮ನೀವು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಪತ್ರವು ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಓದಲಾಯಿತು. ಅದರ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿಷಯ ಮನದಟ್ಟಾಯಿತು.
19 I decreed, and search has been made, and it is found that this city of old time has made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it.
೧೯ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞಾನುಸಾರ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದಾಗ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರು ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೇ ಅರಸರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬೀಳುತ್ತಾ, ದ್ರೋಹಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ದಂಗೆಯೆಬ್ಬಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದವರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಿತು.
20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all the country beyond the River; and tribute, custom, and toll, was paid to them.
೨೦ಅವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಆಳುತ್ತಾ, ಹೊಳೆಯಾಚೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರನಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಕಪ್ಪ, ತೆರಿಗೆ ಸುಂಕಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರೆಂದು ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿತು.
21 Make a decree now to cause these men to cease, and that this city not be built, until a decree shall be made by me.
೨೧ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂತಲೂ, ನನ್ನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಆವಕಾಶ ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂತಲೂ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿರಿ.
22 Take heed that you not be slack herein: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
೨೨ರಾಜರಿಗೆ ಹಾನಿಯುಂಟಾಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ಜಾಗರೂಕತೆಯಿಂದಿರಿ, ಉದಾಸೀನತೆಯಿಂದ ಲಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಇರಬೇಡಿ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
23 Then when the copy of king Artachshasta's letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
೨೩ಅರಸನಾದ ಅರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಈ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ರೆಹೂಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶಿಂಷೈ ಇವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇವರ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಓದಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವರು ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಲವಂತದಿಂದಲೂ ಅಧಿಕಾರದಿಂದಲೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರನ್ನು ತಡೆದರು.
24 Then ceased the work of God's house which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Daryavesh king of Persia.
೨೪ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ದೇಶದ ರಾಜನಾದ ದಾರ್ಯಾವೆಷನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಎರಡನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದವರೆಗೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಕೆಲಸವು ನಿಂತುಹೋಯಿತು.
