< Daniel 9 >

1 In the first year of Daryavesh the son of Achashyerosh, of Median descent, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans?
Ní ọdún kìn-ín-ní Dariusi ọmọ Ahaswerusi, ẹni tí a bí ní Media, òun ló jẹ ọba lórí ìjọba Babeli.
2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood from the books the number of the years about which the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the completion of the desolation of Jerusalem, seventy years.
Ní ọdún kìn-ín-ní ìjọba rẹ̀, èmi Daniẹli fi iyè sí i láti inú ìwé, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí wòlíì Jeremiah, wá pé, àádọ́rin ọdún ni Jerusalẹmu yóò fi wà ní ahoro.
3 And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
Nígbà náà, ni mo yípadà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run, mo bẹ̀ ẹ́ pẹ̀lú àdúrà àti ẹ̀bẹ̀, pẹ̀lú àwẹ̀, aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ àti eérú.
4 I prayed to YHWH my God, and made this confession, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments.
Mo gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, mo sì jẹ́wọ́ wí pé: “Ìwọ Olúwa, Ọlọ́run tí ó tóbi, tí ó sì ní ẹ̀rù, ẹni tí ń pa májẹ̀mú ìfẹ́ mọ́, pẹ̀lú àwọn tí ó ní ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ àti àwọn tí ó ń pa àwọn òfin rẹ̀ mọ́.
5 We have sinned, and have done what is wrong and wicked, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your commandments and from your ordinances.
Àwa ti ṣẹ̀, a sì ti ṣe búburú. Àwa ti hu ìwà búburú, a sì ti ṣe ọ̀tẹ̀, a ti yí padà kúrò nínú àwọn àṣẹ àti àwọn ìlànà rẹ̀.
6 Neither have we listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
Àwa kò fetí sí àwọn wòlíì ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, ẹni tí ó sọ̀rọ̀ ní orúkọ rẹ sí àwọn ọba wa, àwọn ọmọ-aládé àti àwọn baba wa, àti sí gbogbo ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà.
7 Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds that they have committed against you.
“Olúwa ìwọ ni olódodo, ṣùgbọ́n báyìí ìtìjú dé bá àwọn ènìyàn Juda, àwọn ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu àti gbogbo Israẹli ní gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè tí ìwọ ti fọ́n wa ká sí nítorí àìṣòótọ́ ọ wa sí ọ.
8 YHWH, to us belongs open shame, to our kings, to our leaders, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.
Háà! Olúwa, àwa àti àwọn ọba wa, àwọn ọmọ-aládé, àti àwọn baba wa, ìtìjú dé bá wa nítorí àwa ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ọ.
9 To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him.
Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa ní àánú, ó sì ń dáríjì, bí àwa tilẹ̀ ti ṣe ọ̀tẹ̀ sí i;
10 And have not obeyed the voice of YHWH our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
àwa kò gbọ́rọ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, a kò sì pa àwọn òfin rẹ mọ́, èyí tí ó fún wa nípasẹ̀ àwọn wòlíì ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀.
11 Yes, all Israel has transgressed your law, and turned away, refusing to obey your voice. Therefore has the curse been poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against you.
Gbogbo Israẹli ti ṣẹ̀ sí òfin rẹ, wọ́n ti yípadà kúrò ní ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ, wọ́n kọ̀ láti ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí ọ. “Nígbà náà ni ègún àti ìdájọ́ tí a kọ sílẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ìbúra nínú òfin Mose ìránṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run dà sórí i wa, nítorí tí àwa ti sẹ̀ sí ọ.
12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing on us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven such has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem.
Ìwọ ti mú ọ̀rọ̀ tí o sọ sí wa sẹ àti lórí àwọn alákòóso wa, nípa mímú kí ibi ńlá bá wa, irú èyí tí kò tí ì ṣẹlẹ̀ rí lábẹ́ ọ̀run, bí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀ sí Jerusalẹmu yìí.
13 As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us. Yet have we not tried to gain the favor of YHWH our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth.
Bí a ti kọ ọ́ sínú òfin Mose bẹ́ẹ̀ ni gbogbo ibi yìí ti dé bá wa, síbẹ̀ a kò bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún ojúrere Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, nípa yíyí padà kí a kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa kí a sì mọ òtítọ́ rẹ.
14 Therefore has YHWH watched over the calamity, and brought it on us, for YHWH our God is just in all he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.
Olúwa kò jáfara láti mú ibi náà wá sórí wa, nítorí olódodo ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa nínú u gbogbo ohun tí ó ń ṣe; síbẹ̀ àwa kò ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí i.
15 "And now, Lord our God, who has brought your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a name for yourself, even to this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
“Ní ìsinsin yìí, Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, ẹni tí ó mú àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ jáde láti ilẹ̀ Ejibiti wá, pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ agbára, tí ó fún ara rẹ̀ ní orúkọ tí ó wà títí di òní, a ti ṣẹ̀, a sì ti ṣe búburú.
16 Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and please let your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.
Olúwa, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú ìwà òdodo rẹ, yí ìbínú àti ìrunú rẹ padà kúrò ní Jerusalẹmu ìlú u rẹ, òkè mímọ́ rẹ. Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa àti àìṣedéédéé àwọn baba wa ti mú Jerusalẹmu àti ènìyàn rẹ di ẹ̀gàn fún gbogbo àwọn tí ó yí wọn ká.
17 Now therefore, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant, and to his petitions, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
“Nísinsin yìí, Ọlọ́run wa, gbọ́ àdúrà àti ẹ̀bẹ̀ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, nítorí i tìrẹ Olúwa, fi ojú àánú wo ibi mímọ́ rẹ tí ó ti dahoro.
18 My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our desolation, and the city which is called by your name. For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy.
Tẹ́ etí rẹ sílẹ̀, Ọlọ́run, kí o gbọ́; ya ojú rẹ sílẹ̀, kí o sì wo ìdahoro ìlú tí a ń fi orúkọ rẹ pè. Àwa kò gbé ẹ̀bẹ̀ wa kalẹ̀ níwájú u rẹ nítorí pé a jẹ́ olódodo, bí kò ṣe nítorí àánú ńlá rẹ.
19 Lord, hear. Lord, forgive. Lord, listen and take action. Do not delay, for your own sake, my God, because your city and your people are called by your name."
Olúwa, fetísílẹ̀! Olúwa, dáríjì! Olúwa, gbọ́ kí o sì ṣe é! Nítorí i tìrẹ, Ọlọ́run mi, má ṣe pẹ́ títí, nítorí ìlú rẹ àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ ń jẹ́ orúkọ mọ́ ọ lára.”
20 While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before YHWH my God for the holy mountain of my God,
Bí mo ṣe ń sọ̀rọ̀, tí mo sì ń gba àdúrà, tí mo ń jẹ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mi àti ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn Israẹli ènìyàn mi, tí mo sì ń mú ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi tọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi nítorí òkè mímọ́ rẹ.
21 while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, came to me in my weariness about the time of the evening sacrifice.

23 At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went forth, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.

24 Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.
