< Amos 8 >

1 This is what YHWH showed me: And look, a basket of summer fruit.
‌ʻOku pehē hono fakahā mai kiate au ʻe he ʻEiki ko e ʻOtua: pea vakai, ko e kato fuaʻi ʻakau ʻoe faʻahitaʻu mafana.
2 He said, "Amos, what do you see?" I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then YHWH said to me, "The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
Pea naʻa ne pehē, “ʻAmosi, Ko e hā ʻoku ke mamata ai?” Pea u pehē, “Ko e kato fuaʻi ʻakau ʻoe faʻahitaʻu mafana.” Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “Kuo hoko hono ngataʻanga ki hoku kakai ko ʻIsileli; ʻe ʻikai te u toe laka ʻiate kinautolu.”
3 The songs of the temple will be wailings in that day," says YHWH. "The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “ʻE hoko ʻae ngaahi hiva ʻoe fale tapu, ko e tangi fakalōloa ʻi he ʻaho ko ia: ʻe lahi ʻae ʻangaʻanga ʻi he potu kotoa pē; ʻe lī ʻakinautolu kituʻa ʻi he fakalongo pē.
4 Hear this, you who trample the needy, and destroy the poor of the land,
Fanongo eni, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku folo hifo ʻae paea, ʻio, ke fakaʻosi ʻae kakai masiva mei he fonua,
5 saying, 'When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
‌ʻO pehē, ‘ʻE ʻosi ʻafē ʻae māhina foʻou, ka tau fakatau koane? Pea mo e ʻaho tapu, ka tau vakili ʻae uite, ʻo fakasiʻisiʻi ʻae efa, pea fakalahi ʻae sikeli, pea fakakehe ʻae meʻa fua tautau ʻi he kākā?
6 that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?'"
Pea ke tau fakatau ʻae kakai masiva ʻaki ʻae siliva, pea mo e paea ʻaki ha topuvaʻe: pea ke fakatau ʻae uite kovi?’”
7 YHWH has sworn by the pride of Jacob, "Surely I will never forget any of their works.
Kuo fuakava ʻaki ʻe Sihova ʻae lelei ʻo Sēkope, “Ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻikai ngalo ʻiate au ʻenau ngaahi ngāue ʻo lauikuonga.
8 Won't the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.
‌ʻIkai ʻe tetetete ʻae fonua koeʻuhi ko eni, pea taki taha tangi ʻaia ʻoku nofo ʻi ai? Pea ʻe tupu kātoa ia ʻo hangē ko e lōmaki; pea ʻe lī ia kituʻa ʻo melemo, hangē ko e malofa ʻi ʻIsipite.
9 It will happen in that day," says YHWH, "that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “ʻe hoko ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, te u pule ke tō ʻae laʻā ʻi he hoʻatāmālie, pea te u fakapoʻuliʻi ʻa māmani ʻi he kei ʻaho ʻaupito:
10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
Pea te u liliu hoʻomou ngaahi kātoanga ko e tangi, pea mo hoʻomou hiva kotoa pē ki he tangilāulau; pea te u ʻomi ʻae tauangaʻa ki homou kongaloto kotoa pē, pea ʻe tekefua ʻae ʻulu kotoa pē; pea te u ngaohi ia ke hangē ko e tangi koeʻuhi ko e pele pe taha, pea ko hono ngataʻanga ke hangē ko e ʻaho ʻoe mamahi kona.
11 Look, the days come," says YHWH, "that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of YHWH.
Vakai, ʻoku hoko ʻae ngaahi ʻaho,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “ʻAia te u fekau ʻae honge ki he fonua, kae ʻikai ko e honge mā, pe ko e fieinu vai, ka ko e fanongo ki he ngaahi folofola ʻa Sihova:
12 They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the word of YHWH, and will not find it.
Pea te nau ʻāuhē mei he tahi ki he tahi, pea mei he tokelau ki hahake, te nau lele fano pe ke kumi ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ka ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻilo ia.
13 In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.
‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia ʻe pongia ʻae kau taʻahine hoihoifua, mo e kau talavou ʻi he fieinu.
14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, 'As your god, Dan, lives;' and, 'As the way of Beersheba lives;' they will fall, and never rise up again."
