Acts 27
1 When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.
A gdy postanowiono, że mamy płynąć do Italii, oddano Pawła i innych więźniów setnikowi, imieniem Juliusz, z oddziału Augusta.
2 Embarking in a ship from Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea; Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
Wsiedliśmy na statek adramyteński, który miał płynąć wzdłuż wybrzeża Azji, i odbiliśmy [od brzegu]. Był też z nami Arystarch, Macedończyk z Tesaloniki.
3 The next day, we landed at Sidon. Julius treated Paul kindly, and gave him permission to go to his friends and refresh himself.
Następnego dnia przypłynęliśmy do Sydonu, gdzie Juliusz, który życzliwie odnosił się do Pawła, pozwolił [mu] iść do przyjaciół, aby doznał pokrzepienia.
4 Putting to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
A wyruszywszy stamtąd, płynęliśmy pod [osłoną] Cypru, dlatego że wiatry były przeciwne.
5 When we had sailed across the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
Przepłynęliśmy morze na wysokości Cylicji i Pamfilii i przybyliśmy do Miry w Licji.
6 There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and he put us on board.
Tam setnik znalazł statek aleksandryjski płynący do Italii i umieścił nas na nim.
7 When we had sailed slowly many days, and had come with difficulty opposite Cnidus, the wind not allowing us further, we sailed under the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.
A gdy przez wiele dni płynęliśmy wolno i dotarliśmy zaledwie na wysokość Knidos, ponieważ wiatr nam nie pozwalał, popłynęliśmy wzdłuż Krety obok Salmone.
8 With difficulty sailing along it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.
A płynąc z trudem wzdłuż jej [brzegów], dotarliśmy do pewnego miejsca zwanego Piękne Porty, blisko którego było miasto Lasaia.
9 When much time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous, because the Fast had now already gone by, Paul admonished them,
Gdy upłynęło wiele czasu i żegluga stała się niebezpieczna, bo minął już post, Paweł [ich] przestrzegał:
10 and said to them, "Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives."
Panowie, widzę, że żegluga będzie [związana] z krzywdą i wielką szkodą nie tylko ładunkowi i statkowi, ale i naszemu życiu.
11 But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.
Setnik jednak bardziej ufał sternikowi i właścicielowi [statku] niż temu, co mówił Paweł.
12 Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking northeast and southeast.
A ponieważ żaden port nie nadawał się do przezimowania, większość postanowiła stamtąd odpłynąć, dostać się jakoś na przezimowanie do portu Feniks na Krecie, otwartego na południowo-zachodnią i północno-zachodnią stronę.
13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close to shore.
A gdy powiał wiatr z południa, sądzili, że zamiar doprowadzą do skutku, i odbili od brzegu, i popłynęli wzdłuż Krety.
14 But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euraquilo.
Lecz niedługo potem uderzył na nią gwałtowny wiatr, zwany Eurokludon.
15 When the ship was caught, and could not face the wind, we gave way to it, and were driven along.
Kiedy statek został porwany i nie mógł stawić czoła wiatrowi, puściliśmy [go z wiatrem] i pozwoliliśmy się unosić.
16 Running under the lee of a small island called Cauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.
Gdy płynęliśmy wzdłuż pewnej wysepki, zwanej Klauda, z trudem zdołaliśmy uchwycić łódź ratunkową.
17 After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.
Po wyciągnięciu jej przepasali statek, używając [sprzętu] pomocniczego. Z obawy, żeby nie wpaść na płyciznę, opuścili żagle i tak ich niosło.
18 As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.
Ponieważ miotała nami gwałtowna burza, nazajutrz wyrzucili [ładunek].
19 On the third day, they threw out the ship's tackle with their own hands.
A trzeciego [dnia] własnymi rękami wyrzuciliśmy osprzęt statku.
20 When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.
Lecz kiedy przez wiele dni nie pokazało się ani słońce, ani gwiazdy, a niemała nawałnica napierała, znikła już wszelka nadzieja naszego ocalenia.
21 When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them, and said, "Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, and have gotten this injury and loss.
Gdy [ludzie] już długo nic nie jedli, Paweł stanął pośród nich i powiedział: Panowie, trzeba było mnie posłuchać i nie odpływać od Krety, wtedy uniknęlibyście straty i szkody.
22 Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
Lecz teraz zachęcam was, abyście byli dobrej myśli, bo nikt z was nie zginie, tylko statek.
23 For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,
Tej nocy bowiem stanął przy mnie anioł Boga, do którego należę i któremu służę;
24 saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And look, God has granted you all those who sail with you.'
I powiedział: Nie bój się, Pawle, musisz stanąć przed cesarzem, a oto Bóg darował ci wszystkich, którzy z tobą płyną.
25 Therefore, sirs, cheer up. For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.
Dlatego bądźcie dobrej myśli, panowie, bo wierzę Bogu, że będzie tak, jak mi powiedziano.
26 But we must run aground on a certain island."
Musimy jednak być wyrzuceni na jakąś wyspę.
27 But when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven back and forth in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors surmised that they were drawing near to some land.
A gdy nadeszła czternasta noc, a nas rzucało po Adriatyku, około północy zdawało się żeglarzom, że zbliżają się do jakiegoś lądu.
28 They took soundings, and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.
Wtedy spuścili sondę i stwierdzili dwadzieścia sążni. Popłynąwszy nieco dalej, znowu spuścili sondę i stwierdzili piętnaście sążni.
29 Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.
Bojąc się, abyśmy nie wpadli na skały, zrzucili z rufy cztery kotwice i z upragnieniem oczekiwali świtu.
30 As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship, and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,
A gdy żeglarze postanowili uciec ze statku, spuścili łódź ratunkową pod pozorem zrzucenia kotwic z dziobu statku;
31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, "Unless these stay in the ship, you cannot be saved."
Paweł powiedział do setnika i żołnierzy: Jeśli ci nie zostaną na statku, nie będziecie mogli zostać ocaleni.
32 Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat, and let it fall off.
Wtedy żołnierze odcięli liny od łodzi ratunkowej i pozwolili jej spaść.
33 While the day was coming on, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, "This day is the fourteenth day that you wait and continue fasting, having taken nothing.
Kiedy zaczynało świtać, Paweł zachęcał wszystkich do posiłku: Dziś [już] czternasty dzień, jak trwacie w oczekiwaniu bez posiłku, nic nie jedząc.
34 Therefore I urge you to take some food, for this is for your preservation; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads."
Dlatego proszę was, abyście się posilili, bo to przyczyni się do waszego ocalenia, gdyż żadnemu z was włos z głowy nie spadnie.
35 When he had said this, and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it, and began to eat.
A to powiedziawszy, wziął chleb i podziękował Bogu wobec wszystkich, a gdy złamał, zaczął jeść.
36 Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.
Wtedy wszyscy nabrali otuchy i posilili się.
37 In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.
A nas wszystkich na statku było dwieście siedemdziesiąt sześć dusz.
38 When they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea.
Kiedy się najedli, odciążyli statek, wyrzucając zboże do morza.
39 When it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.
Gdy nastał dzień, nie rozpoznali lądu, jednak zobaczyli jakąś zatokę o płaskim wybrzeżu, do którego postanowili, jeśli będzie można, przybić statkiem.
40 Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.
Wyciągnąwszy więc kotwice, puścili się na morze. Poluzowali wiązania sterowe, nastawili [przedni] żagiel pod wiatr i zmierzali do brzegu.
41 But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.
Wpadli jednak na mieliznę utworzoną między dwoma prądami i osiedli ze statkiem. Dziób statku się zarył, ale rufa zaczęła się rozbijać pod naporem fal.
42 The soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.
Wtedy żołnierze postanowili, że zabiją więźniów, aby żaden z nich nie odpłynął i nie uciekł.
43 But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;
Lecz setnik, chcąc ocalić Pawła, powstrzymał ich od tego zamiaru. Potem rozkazał, aby ci, którzy umieją pływać, skoczyli pierwsi do morza i wyszli na brzeg;
44 and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So it happened that they all escaped safely to the land.
Pozostali zaś na deskach lub częściach statku. I w ten sposób wszyscy cało wyszli na ląd.
