Acts 26

1 Agrippa said to Paul, "You may speak for yourself." Then Paul stretched out his hand, and made his defense.

Agripa dijo a Pablo: “Puedes hablar por ti mismo”. Entonces Pablo extendió la mano e hizo su defensa.

2 "I think myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before you this day concerning all the things that I am accused by the Jews,

“Me considero feliz, rey Agripa, de poder hacer hoy mi defensa ante ti de todo lo que me acusan los judíos,

3 especially because you are expert in all customs and questions which are among Jews. Therefore I beg you to hear me patiently.

especialmente porque eres experto en todas las costumbres y cuestiones que hay entre los judíos. Por eso te ruego que me escuches con paciencia.

4 "Indeed, all Jews know my way of life from my youth up, which was from the beginning among my own nation and at Jerusalem;

“En efecto, todos los judíos conocen mi modo de vida desde mi juventud, que fue desde el principio entre mi propia nación y en Jerusalén;

5 having known me from the first, if they are willing to testify, that after the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

habiéndome conocido desde el principio, si están dispuestos a testificar, que según la secta más estricta de nuestra religión viví como fariseo.

6 Now I stand here to be judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers,

Ahora estoy aquí para ser juzgado por la esperanza de la promesa hecha por Dios a nuestros padres,

7 which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving night and day, hope to attain. Concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, O King.

que nuestras doce tribus, sirviendo fervientemente noche y día, esperan alcanzar. Sobre esta esperanza me acusan los judíos, rey Agripa.

8 Why is it judged incredible with you, if God does raise the dead?

¿Por qué se juzga increíble para ti que Dios resucite a los muertos?

9 "In fact, I thought to myself that I ought to do many things against the name of Jesus the Nazorean.

“Yo mismo pensé que debía hacer muchas cosas contrarias al nombre de Jesús de Nazaret.

10 This I also did in Jerusalem. I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.

También hice esto en Jerusalén. Encerré a muchos de los santos en las cárceles, habiendo recibido autoridad de los sumos sacerdotes; y cuando fueron condenados a muerte, di mi voto contra ellos.

11 Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

Castigándolos a menudo en todas las sinagogas, traté de hacerlos blasfemar. Enfurecido en extremo contra ellos, los perseguí hasta en ciudades extranjeras.

12 "Whereupon as I traveled to Damascus with the authority and commission from the chief priests,

“Entonces, mientras viajaba a Damasco con la autoridad y la comisión de los jefes de los sacerdotes,

13 at noon, O King, I saw on the way a light from the sky, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who traveled with me.

al mediodía, oh rey, vi en el camino una luz del cielo, más brillante que el sol, que me rodeaba a mí y a los que viajaban conmigo.

14 When we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.'

Cuando todos caímos a tierra, oí una voz que me decía en lengua hebrea: “Saúl, Saúl, ¿por qué me persigues? Es difícil para ti dar coces contra los aguijones’.

15 "I said, 'Who are you, Lord?' "He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

“Dije: ‘¿Quién eres, Señor? “Dijo: ‘Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues.

16 But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen me, and of the things which I will reveal to you;

Pero levántate y ponte en pie, porque para esto me he aparecido a ti: para ponerte como servidor y testigo tanto de las cosas que has visto como de las que te voy a revelar;

17 delivering you from the people, and from the non-Jewish people, to whom I send you,

para librarte del pueblo y de los gentiles, a quienes te envío,

18 to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

para abrirles los ojos, a fin de que se conviertan de las tinieblas a la luz y del poder de Satanás a Dios, para que reciban la remisión de los pecados y la herencia entre los santificados por la fe en mí.’

19 "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

“Por eso, rey Agripa, no fui desobediente a la visión celestial,

20 but declared first to them of Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the non-Jews, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

sino que declaré primero a los de Damasco, a los de Jerusalén y a los de todo el país de Judea, y también a los gentiles, que se arrepintieran y se convirtieran a Dios, haciendo obras dignas de arrepentimiento.

21 For this reason Jews seized me when I was in the temple, and tried to kill me.

Por eso los judíos me apresaron en el templo y trataron de matarme.

22 Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said would happen,

Por lo tanto, habiendo obtenido la ayuda que viene de Dios, estoy hasta el día de hoy dando testimonio tanto a pequeños como a grandes, no diciendo más que lo que los profetas y Moisés dijeron que sucedería,

23 how the Christ would suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to non-Jewish people."

cómo el Cristo debía sufrir y cómo, por la resurrección de los muertos, sería el primero en anunciar la luz tanto a este pueblo como a los gentiles.”

24 As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, "Paul, you are crazy. Your great learning is driving you insane."

Mientras hacía su defensa, Festo dijo en voz alta: “¡Pablo, estás loco! Tu gran aprendizaje te está volviendo loco”.

25 But he said, "I am not crazy, most excellent Festus, but boldly declare words of truth and reasonableness.

Pero él dijo: “No estoy loco, excelentísimo Festo, sino que declaro audazmente palabras de verdad y razonables.

26 For the king knows of these things, to whom also I speak freely. For I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him, for this has not been done in a corner.

Porque el rey sabe de estas cosas, a quien también hablo libremente. Porque estoy persuadido de que nada de esto se le oculta, pues esto no se ha hecho en un rincón.

27 King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe."

Rey Agripa, ¿crees en los profetas? Yo sé que tú crees”.

28 Agrippa said to Paul, "With a little persuasion are you trying to make me a Christian?"

Agripa dijo a Pablo: “¿Con un poco de persuasión pretendes hacerme cristiano?”

29 Paul said, "I pray to God, that whether with little or with much, not only you, but also all that hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these bonds."

Pablo dijo: “Ruego a Dios que, ya sea con poco o con mucho, no sólo ustedes, sino también todos los que me escuchan hoy, lleguen a ser como yo, excepto estas ataduras.”

30 The king rose up with the governor, and Bernice, and those who sat with them.

El rey se levantó con el gobernador y Berenice, y los que estaban sentados con ellos.

31 When they had withdrawn, they spoke one to another, saying, "This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds."

Cuando se retiraron, hablaron entre sí, diciendo: “Este hombre no hace nada digno de muerte ni de prisión.”

32 Agrippa said to Festus, "This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar."

Agripa dijo a Festo: “Este hombre podría haber sido liberado si no hubiera apelado al César.”
