< Acts 13 >

1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Mu Kkanisa y’omu Antiyokiya mwalimu bannabbi n’abayigiriza bano: Balunabba, ne Simooni, eyayitibwanga, “Omuddugavu” ne Lukiyo ow’e Kuleene, ne Manaeni, eyakulira awamu ne kabaka Kerode, ne Sawulo.
2 As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them."
Awo bwe baali nga basinza Mukama era nga bwe basiiba, Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’agamba nti, “Munjawulire Balunabba ne Sawulo olw’omulimu gwe mbayitidde.”
3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Awo bwe baamala okusaba n’okusiiba, ne bassa emikono gyabwe ku Balunabba ne Sawulo, ne babasiibula ne bagenda.
4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus.
Awo Balunabba ne Sawulo ne batumibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu okugenda e Serukiya, gye baava ne bawunguka okulaga e Kupulo.
5 When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had also John as their attendant.
Bwe baatuuka mu Salamisi ne bayingira mu makuŋŋaaniro g’Abayudaaya ne babuulira ekigambo kya Katonda. Yokaana Makko yali nabo okubaweereza.
6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus,
Ne bagenda nga babuulira ku kizinga kyonna okutuuka e Pafo. Eyo ne basangayo omufumu Omuyudaaya eyali nnabbi ow’obulimba, erinnya lye Balisa.
7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God.
Yayitanga ne Serugiyo Pawulo, gavana Omuruumi ow’oku kizinga ekyo. Gavana ono yali musajja w’amagezi, n’atumya Balunabba ne Sawulo ng’ayagala okuwulira ekigambo kya Katonda.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
Naye Eruma omufumu (kubanga ago ge makulu g’erinnya lye mu Luyonaani), n’abeekiikamu, n’agezaako okusendasenda gavana aleme okuwuliriza ebigambo eby’okukkiriza.
9 But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,
Naye Sawulo, era ng’ayitibwa Pawulo, n’ajjuzibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu, n’atunuulira Eruma enkaliriza,
10 and said, "Full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
n’amugamba nti, “Ggwe, omusajja ajudde obulimba bwonna n’obukuusa bwonna, omwana wa Setaani, era omulabe w’obutuukirivu bwonna olikomya ddi okukyusakyusa amakubo ga Katonda amatereevu?
11 Now, look, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. He went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
Kaakano omukono gwa Mukama gukwolekedde, ojja kuziba amaaso, omale ebbanga nga tolaba musana.” Amangwago olufu n’ekizikiza ne bimusaanikira, n’atandika okuwammanta ng’anoonya anaamukwata ku mukono.
12 Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Awo gavana bwe yalaba ebibaddewo, n’akkiriza, era n’awuniikirira nnyo olw’okuyigiriza kw’ekigambo kya Mukama.
13 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia, and John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.
Awo Pawulo ne be yali nabo ne basaabala ku nnyanja okuva e Pafo ne bagoba e Peruga eky’e Panfuliya. Naye Yokaana Makko n’abalekayo n’addayo e Yerusaalemi.
14 But they, passing on from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia. They went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.
Kyokka Balunabba ne Pawulo ne beeyongerayo mu lugendo lwabwe ne batuuka mu kibuga Antiyokiya ekiri mu Pisidiya. Awo ku lunaku lwa Ssabbiiti ne bagenda ne batuula mu kkuŋŋaaniro.
15 After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak."
Ebitundu ebyaggyibwa mu Mateeka ne mu Bannabbi bwe byaggwa okusomebwa, abakulembeze b’ekuŋŋaaniro ne batumira Balunabba ne Pawulo we baali batudde nga bagamba nti, “Abasajja abooluganda, obanga ku mmwe waliwo alina ekigambo ekizimba abantu akyogere.”
16 Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.
Awo Pawulo n’ayimuka, n’abawenya n’ayogera nti, “Abasajja Abayisirayiri, nammwe abatya Katonda, muwulirize!
17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as foreigners in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it.
Katonda w’eggwanga lino Isirayiri yalonda bajjajjaffe n’abafuula eggwanga ekkulu bwe baali abagenyi mu nsi y’e Misiri n’oluvannyuma n’abaggyayo n’omukono gwe ogw’amaanyi,
18 For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.
n’abagumiikiriza okumala emyaka amakumi ana nga bali mu ddungu.
19 When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance.
N’azikiriza amawanga musanvu agaabeeranga mu nsi ya Kanani, era ensi eyo n’agiwa Abayisirayiri okubeera omugabo gwabwe,
20 All this took about four hundred and fifty years. And after these things he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
okumala emyaka ng’ebikumi bina mu ataano. “Oluvannyuma n’abalondera abalamuzi okubafuganga okutuusa mu biro bya nnabbi Samwiri.
21 Afterward they asked for a king, and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
Awo abantu ne basaba bafugibwe kabaka. Katonda n’abawa Sawulo mutabani wa Kiisi, ow’omu kika kya Benyamini, n’afugira emyaka amakumi ana.
22 When he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom he also testified, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.'
Naye Katonda n’amuggya ku bwakabaka, n’abuwa Dawudi, oyo Katonda gwe yayogerako obulungi nti, ‘Nnonze Dawudi, mutabani wa Yese, omusajja omutima gwange gwe gwagala ajja okukola bye njagala.’
23 From this man's offspring, according to his promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus,
“Mu zzadde lye, Katonda mwe yalonda Omulokozi, ye Yesu, nga bwe yasuubiza Isirayiri.
24 before his coming, when John had first preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Naye nga tannajja, Yokaana yabuulira abantu bonna mu Isirayiri okubatizibwa okw’okwenenya.
25 As John was fulfilling his course, he said, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But look, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'
Era Yokaana bwe yali ng’ali kumpi okufundikira omulimu gwe, yagamba nti, ‘Mundowooza kuba ani? Nze siri ye. Laba Ye ajja oluvannyuma lwange, n’okusaanira sisaanira na kusumulula ngatto ze.’
26 Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to us.
“Abasajja abooluganda mmwe bazzukulu ba Ibulayimu, nammwe abatya Katonda, obubaka buno obw’obulokozi, bwaffe ffenna wamu.
27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.
Ababeera mu Yerusaalemi n’abakulembeze baabwe ne batamumanya oyo newaakubadde ebigambo bya bannabbi, ebyasomebwanga buli Ssabbiiti. Baamusalira omusango, ne batuukiriza ebigambo bino.
28 Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed.
Tebaalina nsonga emussa, naye era ne basaba Piraato amutte.
29 When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree, and placed him in a tomb.
Bwe baamala okutuukiriza byonna ebyamuwandiikwako, n’awanulwayo ku musaalaba n’agalamizibwa mu ntaana.
30 But God raised him from the dead,
Naye Katonda n’amuzuukiza mu bafu.
31 and he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.
Era abo be yajja nabo e Yerusaalemi ng’ava e Ggaliraaya n’abalabikiranga okumala ennaku nnyingi. Era be bajulirwa be eri abantu.
32 We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers,
“Ne kaakano tubategeeza nti, Katonda kye yasuubiza bajjajjaffe
33 that God has fulfilled for us, their children, in that he raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second psalm, 'You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.'
yakituukiriza mu ffe ne mu baana baffe, bwe yazuukiza Yesu mu bafu. Nga bwe kyawandiikibwa mu Zabbuli eyookubiri nti, “‘Mwana wange, leero nfuuse Kitaawo.’
34 "Concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: 'I will give to you the faithful sacred things of David.'
Kubanga Katonda yasuubiza okumuzuukiza abeere mulamu nate, era nga takyaddayo kuvunda. Ekyawandiikibwa nga bwe kyogera nti: “‘Ndikuwa emikisa egy’olubeerera era emitukuvu gye nasuubiza Dawudi.’
35 Therefore he says also in another psalm, 'You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.'
Ne mu kyawandiikibwa ekirala agamba nti, “‘Toliganya Mutukuvu wo kuvunda.’
36 For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was placed with his fathers, and saw decay.
“Kino kyali tekyogera ku Dawudi, kubanga Dawudi bwe yamala okuweereza omulembe gwe nga Katonda bwe yayagala, n’afa, n’aziikibwa, era omubiri gwe ne guvunda.
37 But he whom God raised up saw no decay.
Noolwekyo, oyo Katonda gwe yazuukiza teyavunda.
38 Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you forgiveness of sins,
“Abooluganda, mumpulirize! Mu muntu ono Yesu okusonyiyibwa ebibi mwe kubuuliddwa. Kino nga tekiyinzika mu mateeka ga Musa.
39 and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
Buli amukkiriza n’amwesiga aggyibwako omusango gw’ekibi, n’aweebwa obutuukirivu.
40 So beware, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:
Mwegendereze, ebigambo bya bannabbi bireme kutuukirira ku mmwe, bwe baagamba nti:
41 'Look, you scoffers, and be amazed, and perish; for I am working a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if one tells it to you.'"
“‘Mulabe, mmwe abanyoomi, musamaalirire era muzikirire! Kubanga nnina omulimu gwe nkola mu kiseera, gwe mutagenda kukkiriza newaakubadde omuntu ne bw’aligubannyonnyola atya temuligukkiriza.’”
42 So when they went out they urged them to speak about these things on the next Sabbath.
Awo Pawulo ne Balunabba bwe baali bafuluma mu kkuŋŋaaniro, abantu ne babasaba bakomewo ku Ssabbiiti eddirira bongere okubabuulira ku bigambo ebyo.
43 Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.
Abayudaaya bangi awamu n’abatya Katonda abaaliwo mu kusinza okwo mu kkuŋŋaaniro, ne babagoberera. Pawulo ne Balunabba ne banyumya nabo nga bwe batambula mu kkubo, nga babasendasenda banywerere mu kukkiriza ne mu kisa kya Katonda.
44 The next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of the Lord.
Ku Ssabbiiti eyaddirira kumpi buli muntu eyali mu kibuga n’ajja okuwulira ekigambo kya Katonda.
45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and reviled him.
Naye Abayudaaya bwe baalaba ebibiina ebinene nga bizze, ne bakwatibwa obuggya, ne batandika okuwakanya n’okujolonga byonna Pawulo bye yayogeranga.
46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, and said, "It was necessary that God's word should be spoken to you first. Since indeed you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, look, we turn to the non-Jewish people. (aiōnios g166)
Awo Pawulo ne Balunabba ne babaanukula n’obuvumu bungi ne babagamba nti, “Kyali kituufu Ekigambo kya Katonda kino okusooka okubuulirwa mmwe Abayudaaya. Naye nga bwe mukigaanyi, ne mweraga nti obulamu obutaggwaawo temubusaanira; kale kaakano ka tukibuulire Abaamawanga. (aiōnios g166)
47 For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth.'"
Kubanga bw’atyo Mukama bwe yatulagira bwe yagamba nti, “‘Mbafudde omusana okwakira Abaamawanga, olw’obulokozi okutuuka ku nkomerero y’ensi.’”
48 As the non-Jewish people heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord. As many as were appointed to everlasting life believed. (aiōnios g166)
Abaamawanga bwe baawulira ebyo ne bajjula essanyu; era bangi ne bakkiriza, abo Katonda be yalonda okuwa obulamu obutaggwaawo. (aiōnios g166)
49 The Lord's word was spread abroad throughout all the region.
Awo ekigambo kya Katonda ne kibuna mu kitundu ekyo kyonna.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout women of prominence and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders.
Naye Abayudaaya ne bafukuutirira abakazi abaasinzanga Katonda ab’ebitiibwa, n’abakulembeze mu kibuga, ne batandika akeegugungo mu kibiina ky’abantu nga koolekedde Pawulo ne Balunabba, okutuusa lwe baabagoba mu kitundu kyabwe.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
Abatume ne babakunkumulira enfuufu ey’omu bigere byabwe, ne babaviira ne balaga mu Ikoniya.
52 The disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit.
Abayigirizwa ne bajjula essanyu ne Mwoyo Mutukuvu.
