2 Timothy 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,
奉天主的旨意，為傳佈在基督耶穌內所恩許的生命，作基督耶穌宗徒的保祿，
2 to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
致書給可愛的兒子弟茂德。願恩寵、仁慈與平安，由天主父和我們的主基督耶穌賜與你!
3 I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. How unceasing is my memory of you in my petitions, night and day
當我在黑夜白日的祈禱中，不斷地懷念你時，我就感謝我繼續祖先，以純潔的良心所服事的天主。
4 longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;
我每想起你的眼淚，我便渴望見你，為叫我滿心喜樂；
5 having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in you; which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and, I am persuaded, in you also.
我記得你那毫無虛偽的信德，這信德首先存在你外祖母羅依和你母親歐尼刻的心中，我深信也存在你的心中。
6 For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
為了那原故，我提醒你把天主藉我的覆手所賦予你的恩賜，再熾燃起來，
7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.
因為天主所賜給我們的，並非怯懦之神，而是大能、愛德和慎重之神。
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,
所以你不要以給我們的主作證為恥，也不要以我這為主被囚的人為恥，但要依賴天主的大能，為福音同我共同勞苦。
9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, (aiōnios g166)
天主拯救了我們，以聖召召叫了我們，並不是按照我們的行為，而是按照衪的決意和恩寵：這恩寵是萬世以前，在基督耶穌內賜與我們的， (aiōnios g166)
10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.
如今藉著我們的救主基督耶穌的出現，出現示了出來；衪毀滅了死亡，藉著福音彰顯了不朽的生命。
11 For this, I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
為這福音，我被立為宣講者，為宗徒，為導師。
12 For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.
為了這原故，我現在受這些苦難，但我並不以此為恥，因為我知道我所信賴的是誰，也深信衪有能力保管我所受的寄托，直至那一日。
13 Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
你要以信德及在基督耶穌內的愛德，把從我所聽的健全的道理，奉為模範；
14 That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
且依賴那住在我們內的聖神，保管你所受的美好寄托。
15 This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
你知道那些在亞細亞的人都離棄了我，其中有菲革羅和赫摩革乃。
16 May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain,
願主賜仁慈於敖乃息佛羅的家庭，因為他屢次使我精神快慰，也不以我鎖鏈為恥，
17 but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me
而且他一到了羅馬，急切地訪尋我，也找到了我。
18 (the Lord grant to him to find the Lord's mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
願主到那一日，賜他獲得主的仁慈! 他在厄弗所怎樣為我服了務，你們知道得更清楚。
