2 Samuel 21
1 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, so David sought the face of YHWH. And YHWH said, "There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he murdered the Gibeonites."
Kulikuwa na njaa kwa miaka mitatu katika siku za utawala wa Daudi, na Daudi akautafuta uso wa Yahwe. “Hivyo Yahwe akasema, “njaa hii ni kwa sababu ya mauaji ya Sauli na familia yake, kwa kuwa aliwauwa Wagibeoni.”
2 So the king summoned the Gibeonites, and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites. And the children of Israel had sworn to them, but Saul sought to exterminate them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah.)
Basi Wagibeoni hawakuwa uzao wa Israeli; walikuwa ni masalia ya Waamori. Watu wa Israeli walikuwa wameapa kutowauwa, lakini Sauli alitaka kuwaangamiza wote kwa husuda kwa ajili ya watu wa Israeli na Yuda.
3 And David said to the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? And how can I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of YHWH?"
Ndipo Daudi alipowaita pamoja Wagibeoni na kuwaambia, “Niwafanyie nini kwa ajili ya upatanisho? Ili kwamba mweze kuwabariki watu wa Yahwe wanaorithi wema na ahadi zake?”
4 The Gibeonites said to him, "It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house, nor is it our place to put anyone to death in Israel." Then he said, "What do you want? For I will do it for you."
Wagibeoni wakamjibu, “Hili siyo jambo la fedha wala dhahabu kati yatu na Sauli au familia yake. Na siyo hitaji letu kumwua mtu yeyote katika Israeli.” Daudi akasema, “Chochote mtakacho omba nitawafanyia.”
5 So they said to the king, "The man who opposed us and persecuted us, who meant to eradicate us from having a place anywhere in the territory of Israel,
Wakamjibu mfalme, “Mtu aliyetaka kutuuwa aliyepanga kunyume chetu, ili kutuangamiza na kukosa eneo katika mipaka ya Israeli -
6 let seven of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them before YHWH at Gibeon on the mountain of YHWH." And the king replied, "I will do it."
haya na tupewe watu saba kutoka katika uzao wake, nasi tutawatundika mbele ya Yahwe katika Gibea ya Sauli, palipochaguliwa na Yahwe.” Mfalme akasema, “Nitawapeni”
7 But the king spared Mippibaal, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of YHWH's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
Lakini mfalme akamwifadhi Mefiboshethi mwana wa Yonathani mwana wa Sauli, kwa ajili ya kiapo cha Yahwe kati ya Daudi na Yonathani mwana wa Sauli.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mippibaal; and the five sons of Merob the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
Mfalme akawachukua wana wawili wa Rispa binti Ayia aliomzalia Sauli, hawa wana wawili waliitwa Armoni na Mefiboshethi; na pia Daudi akawachukua wana watano wa Mikali binti Sauli, aliomzalia Adrieli mwana wa Berzilai Mmeholathi.
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before YHWH, and all seven of them fell together. And they were put to death in the first days of harvest at the beginning of barley harvest.
Akawaweka katika mikono ya Wagibeoni. Nao wakawatundika juu ya mlima mbele za Bwana, na wote saba wakafa pamoja. Waliuawa katika kipindi cha mavuno, katika siku ya kwanza mwanzoni mwa mavuno ya shayiri.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on a rock, from the beginning of harvest until it rained on them from the sky. And she did not allow the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the wild animals by night.
Kisha Rispa, binti Aiya, akachukua nguo ya gunia na akajitanda mwenyewe juu ya mlima kando ya miili ya waliokufa tangu mwanzo wa mavuno mpaka wakati mvua ilipoanza kunyesha. Hakuruhusu ndege wa angani kutua juu ya miili mchana wala ayawani wa mwituni wakati wa usiku.
11 It was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the secondary wife of Saul, had done.
Daudi akaambia alichokifanya Rispa, binti Aiya, suria wa Sauli.
12 Then David went and obtained the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them on the day that the Philistines killed Saul on Gilboa;
Hivyo Daudi akaenda na kuchukua mifupa ya Sauli na mifupa ya Yonathani mwanawe kutoka kwa watu wa Yabeshi Gileadi, waliokuwa wameiiba kutoka katika eneo la jumuiya la Beth Shani, Wafilisti walipokuwa wamewatundika baada ya Wafilisti kumwua Sauli katika Gilboa.
13 and he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. And they gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
Daudi akaiondoa pale mifupa ya Sauli na mifupa ya Yonathani mwanawe, na wakakusanya pia mifupa ya wale watu saba waliotundikwa.
14 And he buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father. And they performed all that the king commanded. After that God responded to prayers for the land.
Wakaizika mifupa ya Sauli na Yonathani mwanawe huko Zela katika nchi ya Benjamini, katika kaburi la Kishi babaye. Wakafanya kila alichoagiza mfalme. Ndipo Mungu akajibu maombi yao kwa ajili ya nchi.
15 The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. Now David became exhausted,
Kisha Wafilisti wakaenda tena katika vita na Israeli. Hivyo Daudi na jeshi lake wakashuka na kupigana na Wafilisti. Akiwa vitani Daudi akachoshwa na vita.
16 and Dodo son of Joash, of the descendants of the Raphah, captured him. His spear weighed three hundred bronze shekels, and he was girded with a new sword, and he thought he could kill David.
Ishbibenobu, wa uzao wa majitu, ambaye mkuki wake wa shaba ulikuwa na uzito wa shekeli mia tatu na alikuwa na upanga mpya, alitaka kumwua Daudi.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David took an oath, saying, "You must not go out to battle with us again, so that you do not extinguish the lamp of Israel."
Lakini Abishai mwana wa Seruya akamwokoa Daudi, akampiga Mfilisti na kumwua. Ndipo watu wa Daudi wakamwapia, kusema, “Hautakwenda vitani pamoja nasi tena usije ukaizima taa ya Israeli.”
18 Now it came to pass after this that there was another battle with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, a descendant of the Raphah.
Ikawa baadaye kuwa na vita tena kati ya Wafilisti huko Gobu, wakati Sibekai Mhushathi alipomwua Safu, aliyekuwa miongoni mwa uzao wa Warefai.
19 There was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
Ikawa tena katika vita na Wafilisti huko Gobu, huyo Elhanani mwana wa Jari Mbethlehemu akamwua Goliathi Mgiti, ambaye fumo la mkuki wake lilikuwa kama mti wa mfumaji.
20 There was another battle at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had on six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in number, and he also was a descendant of Raphah.
Ikawa katika vita nyingine huko Gathi kulikuwa na mtu mrefu sana mwenye vidole sita katika kila mkono na vidole sita katika kila mguu, jumla yake ishirini na vinne. Yeye naye alikuwa wa uzao wa Warefai.
21 When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
Alipowatukana Israeli, Yonathani mwana mwana wa Shama, nduguye Daudi, akamwua.
22 These four were descendants of Raphah in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Hawa walikuwa wa uzao wa Warefai wa Gathi, waliuawa kwa mkono wa Daudi na kwa mkono wa askari wake
