2 Samuel 21
1 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, so David sought the face of YHWH. And YHWH said, "There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he murdered the Gibeonites."
En los días de David se produjo un hambre que duró tres años seguidos. David consultó a Yahvé, y dijo Yahvé: “Es por causa de Saúl y su casa, que derramó sangre, matando a los gabaonitas.”
2 So the king summoned the Gibeonites, and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites. And the children of Israel had sworn to them, but Saul sought to exterminate them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah.)
Entonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas para hablar con ellos. Es de saber que los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino de los restos de los amorreos, y los hijos de Israel les habían jurado; pero Saúl quiso extirparlos (pretextando) su celo por los hijos de Israel y Judá.
3 And David said to the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? And how can I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of YHWH?"
Dijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: “¿Qué queréis que yo os haga y cómo podré hacer expiación para que bendigáis la herencia de Yahvé?”
4 The Gibeonites said to him, "It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house, nor is it our place to put anyone to death in Israel." Then he said, "What do you want? For I will do it for you."
Los gabaonitas le contestaron: “No tenemos cuestión de plata y oro ni con Saúl ni con su casa; y no pretendemos matar hombre alguno en Israel.” Preguntó él: “Pues ¿qué queréis que haga por vosotros?”
5 So they said to the king, "The man who opposed us and persecuted us, who meant to eradicate us from having a place anywhere in the territory of Israel,
Contestaron ellos al rey: “Aquel hombre nos ha destruido y maquinaba nuestro exterminio para hacernos desaparecer de todo el territorio de Israel;
6 let seven of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them before YHWH at Gibeon on the mountain of YHWH." And the king replied, "I will do it."
por eso que se nos entreguen siete de sus hijos, para que los colguemos ante Yahvé en Gabaa de Saúl, el elegido de Yahvé.” Y dijo el rey: “Yo los entregaré.”
7 But the king spared Mippibaal, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of YHWH's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
El rey tuvo compasión de Mefibóset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Yahvé que había entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mippibaal; and the five sons of Merob the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
Tomó, pues, el rey a los dos hijos que Resfá, hija de Ayá, había dado a Saúl: Armoní y Mefibóset, y los cinco hijos que Merob, hija de Saúl, había dado a Adriel, hijo de Barzillai meholatita;
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before YHWH, and all seven of them fell together. And they were put to death in the first days of harvest at the beginning of barley harvest.
y los entregó en mano de los gabaonitas, que los colgaron en el monte delante de Yahvé, pereciendo los siete juntos. Murieron en los primeros días de la siega, al comienzo de la cosecha de la cebada.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on a rock, from the beginning of harvest until it rained on them from the sky. And she did not allow the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the wild animals by night.
Entonces Resfá, hija de Ayá, tomando un saco, se lo extendió sobre la roca; y (estuvo allí) desde el principio de la siega hasta que se derramaron sobre los (cadáveres) las aguas del cielo, espantando de día las aves del cielo, y de noche las fieras del campo.
11 It was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the secondary wife of Saul, had done.
Fue dado aviso a David de lo que había hecho Resfá, hija de Ayá, concubina de Saúl.
12 Then David went and obtained the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them on the day that the Philistines killed Saul on Gilboa;
Y fue David y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán, su hijo; de los ciudadanos de Jabés-Galaad, que se los habían llevado de la plaza de Betsán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos después de derrotar a Saúl en Gelboé;
13 and he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. And they gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
y trasladó de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán, su hijo; y recogiendo también los huesos de los colgados,
14 And he buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father. And they performed all that the king commanded. After that God responded to prayers for the land.
los hizo sepultar con los huesos de Saúl y de Jonatán, su hijo, en tierra de Benjamín, en Selá, en el sepulcro de Kis, su padre. Y se hizo todo lo que el rey había mandado. Después de esto, Dios se mostró propicio al país.
15 The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. Now David became exhausted,
Hubo otra vez guerra entre los filisteos e Israel; y descendió David, y sus siervos con él, y combatieron a los filisteos. Pero en el momento en que David se cansó,
16 and Dodo son of Joash, of the descendants of the Raphah, captured him. His spear weighed three hundred bronze shekels, and he was girded with a new sword, and he thought he could kill David.
Isbibenob, uno de la raza de los gigantes, que llevaba una lanza de trescientos siclos de bronce y ceñía una espada nueva, intentó matar a David.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David took an oath, saying, "You must not go out to battle with us again, so that you do not extinguish the lamp of Israel."
Mas le vino en socorro Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, que hirió al filisteo y le mató. Entonces los hombres de David le conjuraron, diciendo: “¡No saldrás más con nosotros a la guerra, para que no apagues la antorcha de-Israel!”
18 Now it came to pass after this that there was another battle with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, a descendant of the Raphah.
Después de esto hubo en Gob otra batalla contra los filisteos. Entonces Sibecai, husatita, mató a Saf, que era de los hijos de los gigantes.
19 There was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
Hubo, además, otra batalla en Gob contra los filisteos; y Elhanán, hijo de Jaaré-Oregim, betlehemita, mató a Goliat, geteo, que tenía una lanza cuya asta era como un enjullo de telar.
20 There was another battle at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had on six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in number, and he also was a descendant of Raphah.
Hubo, además, una batalla en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura que tenía en cada mano seis dedos, y en cada pie seis dedos, en total veinticuatro; era también él hijo de los gigantes.
21 When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
Insultó a Israel; pero le mató Jonatán, hijo de Sammá hermano de David.
22 These four were descendants of Raphah in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Estos cuatro eran del linaje de los gigantes de Gat, y cayeron por mano de David y sus servidores.
