2 Samuel 21
1 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, so David sought the face of YHWH. And YHWH said, "There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he murdered the Gibeonites."
Al tempo di Davide ci fu una fame per tre anni continui; Davide cercò la faccia dell’Eterno, e l’Eterno gli disse: “Questo avviene a motivo di Saul e della sua casa sanguinaria, perch’egli fece perire i Gabaoniti”.
2 So the king summoned the Gibeonites, and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites. And the children of Israel had sworn to them, but Saul sought to exterminate them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah.)
Allora il re chiamò i Gabaoniti, e parlò loro. I Gabaoniti non erano del numero de’ figliuoli d’Israele, ma avanzi degli Amorei; e i figliuoli d’Israele s’eran legati a loro per giuramento; nondimeno, Saul, nel suo zelo per i figliuoli d’Israele e di Giuda avea cercato di sterminarli.
3 And David said to the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? And how can I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of YHWH?"
Davide disse ai Gabaoniti: “Che debbo io fare per voi, e in che modo espierò il torto fattovi, perché voi benediciate l’eredità dell’Eterno?”
4 The Gibeonites said to him, "It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house, nor is it our place to put anyone to death in Israel." Then he said, "What do you want? For I will do it for you."
I Gabaoniti gli risposero: “Fra noi e Saul e la sua casa non è questione d’argento o d’oro; e non appartiene a noi il far morire alcuno in Israele”. Il re disse: “Quel che voi direte io lo farò per voi”.
5 So they said to the king, "The man who opposed us and persecuted us, who meant to eradicate us from having a place anywhere in the territory of Israel,
E quelli risposero al re: “Poiché quell’uomo ci ha consunti e avea fatto il piano di sterminarci per farci sparire da tutto il territorio d’Israele,
6 let seven of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them before YHWH at Gibeon on the mountain of YHWH." And the king replied, "I will do it."
ci siano consegnati sette uomini di tra i suoi figliuoli, e noi li appiccheremo dinanzi all’Eterno a Ghibea di Saul, l’Eletto dell’Eterno”. Il re disse: “Ve li consegnerò”.
7 But the king spared Mippibaal, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of YHWH's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
Il re risparmiò Mefibosheth, figliuolo di Gionathan, figliuolo di Saul, per cagione del giuramento che Davide e Gionathan, figliuolo di Saul, avean fatto tra loro davanti all’Eterno;
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mippibaal; and the five sons of Merob the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
ma il re prese i due figliuoli che Ritspa figliuola d’Aiah avea partoriti a Saul, Armoni e Mefibosheth, e i cinque figliuoli che Merab, figliuola di Saul, avea partoriti ad Adriel di Mehola, figliuolo di Barzillai,
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before YHWH, and all seven of them fell together. And they were put to death in the first days of harvest at the beginning of barley harvest.
e li consegnò ai Gabaoniti, che li appiccarono sul monte, dinanzi all’Eterno. Tutti e sette perirono assieme; furon messi a morte nei primi giorni della mèsse, quando si principiava a mietere l’orzo.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on a rock, from the beginning of harvest until it rained on them from the sky. And she did not allow the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the wild animals by night.
Ritspa, figliuola di Aiah, prese un cilicio, se lo stese sulla roccia, e stette là dal principio della mèsse fino a che l’acqua non cadde dal cielo sui cadaveri; e impedì agli uccelli del cielo di posarsi su di essi di giorno, e alle fiere dei campi d’accostarsi di notte.
11 It was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the secondary wife of Saul, had done.
E fu riferito a Davide quello che Ritspa, figliuola di Aiah, concubina di Saul, avea fatto.
12 Then David went and obtained the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them on the day that the Philistines killed Saul on Gilboa;
E Davide andò a prendere le ossa di Saul e quelle di Gionathan suo figliuolo presso gli abitanti di Jabes di Galaad, i quali le avean portate via dalla piazza di Beth-Shan, dove i Filistei aveano appesi i cadaveri quando aveano sconfitto Saul sul Ghilboa.
13 and he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. And they gathered the bones of those who were hanged.
Egli riportò di là le ossa di Saul e quelle di Gionathan suo figliuolo; e anche le ossa di quelli ch’erano stati impiccati furono raccolte.
14 And he buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father. And they performed all that the king commanded. After that God responded to prayers for the land.
E le ossa di Saul e di Gionathan suo figliuolo furon sepolte nel paese di Beniamino, a Tsela, nel sepolcro di Kis, padre di Saul; e fu fatto tutto quello che il re avea ordinato. Dopo questo, Iddio fu placato verso il paese.
15 The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. Now David became exhausted,
I Filistei mossero di nuovo guerra ad Israele; e Davide scese con la sua gente a combattere contro i Filistei. Davide era stanco;
16 and Dodo son of Joash, of the descendants of the Raphah, captured him. His spear weighed three hundred bronze shekels, and he was girded with a new sword, and he thought he could kill David.
e Ishbi-Benob, uno dei discendenti di Rafa, che aveva una lancia del peso di trecento sicli di rame e portava un’armatura nuova, manifestò il proposito di uccidere Davide;
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David took an oath, saying, "You must not go out to battle with us again, so that you do not extinguish the lamp of Israel."
ma Abishai, il figliuolo di Tseruia, venne in soccorso del re, colpì il Filisteo, e lo uccise. Allora la gente di Davide gli fece questo giuramento: “Tu non uscirai più con noi a combattere, e non spegnerai la lampada d’Israele”.
18 Now it came to pass after this that there was another battle with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, a descendant of the Raphah.
Dopo questo, ci fu un’altra battaglia coi Filistei, a Gob; e allora Sibbecai di Huslah uccise Saf, uno dei discendenti di Rafa.
19 There was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
Ci fu un’altra battaglia coi Filistei a Gob; ed Elhanan, figliuolo di Jaare-Oreghim di Bethlehem uccise Goliath di Gath, di cui l’asta della lancia era come un subbio da tessitore.
20 There was another battle at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had on six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in number, and he also was a descendant of Raphah.
Ci fu un’altra battaglia a Gath, dove si trovò un uomo di grande statura, che avea sei dita a ciascuna mano e a ciascun piede, in tutto ventiquattro dita, e che era anch’esso dei discendenti di Rafa.
21 When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
Egli ingiuriò Israele, e Gionathan, figliuolo di Scimea, fratello di Davide, l’uccise.
22 These four were descendants of Raphah in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
Questi quattro erano nati a Gath, della stirpe di Rafa. Essi perirono per mano di Davide e per mano della sua gente.
