2 Samuel 20
1 Now there happened to be a worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bikri, a Benjamite. And he blew the trumpet, and said, "We have no share in David, nor do we have any inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel."
എന്നാൽ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായി ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു നീചൻ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ കാഹളം ഊതി: ദാവീദിങ്കൽ നമുക്കു ഓഹരി ഇല്ല; യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകങ്കൽ അവകാശവും ഇല്ല; യിസ്രായേലേ, നിങ്ങൾ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2 So all Israel deserted David and followed Sheba the son of Bikri, but the men of Judah stayed by their king, from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും ദാവീദിനെ വിട്ടു പിന്മാറി ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയുടെ പക്ഷം ചേൎന്നു; യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോ യോൎദ്ദാൻതുടങ്ങി യെരൂശലേംവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനോടു ചേൎന്നുനടന്നു.
3 Then David came to his palace at Jerusalem, and the king took the ten women his secondary wives, whom he had left to keep the palace, and placed them under guard, and provided for them, but did not go in to them. So they were kept in confinement until the day of their death, living as widows.
ദാവീദ് യെരൂശലേമിൽ അരമനയിൽ എത്തി; അരമന സൂക്ഷിപ്പാൻ പാൎപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന പത്തു വെപ്പാട്ടികളെയും രാജാവു അന്തഃപുരത്തിൽ ആക്കി രക്ഷിച്ചു എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നില്ല. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ജീവപൎയ്യന്തം കാവലിലിരുന്നു വൈധവ്യം ആചരിച്ചു.
4 Then the king said to Amasa, "Summon the men of Judah to me within three days, and be present here yourself."
അനന്തരം രാജാവു അമാസയോടു: നീ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തിന്നകം യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരുമായി ഇവിടെ വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 So Amasa went to summon Judah together, but he delayed beyond the set time that had been allotted him.
അങ്ങനെ അമാസാ യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടുവാൻ പോയി; എന്നാൽ കല്പിച്ച അവധിയിലധികം അവൻ താമസിച്ചുപോയി.
6 David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba the son of Bikri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Now then, take your lord's servants with you and pursue after him, otherwise he will get himself to fortified cities and escape from us."
എന്നാറെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടു: അബ്ശാലോം ചെയ്തതിനെക്കാളും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ ഇപ്പോൾ നമുക്കു അധികം ദോഷം ചെയ്യും; അവൻ ഉറപ്പുള്ള വല്ല പട്ടണത്തിലും കടന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകാതാരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ചേവകരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ പിന്തുടരുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7 So there went out after him Joab's men and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the warriors. And they went out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bikri.
അങ്ങനെ യോവാബിന്റെ ആളുകളും ക്രോത്യരും പ്ലേത്യരും സകലവീരന്മാരും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടരുവാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
8 When they were at the great stone that is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. And Joab was wearing his military attire, and over it was a belt with a dagger in its sheath fastened at his waist, and as he advanced it fell out.
അവർ ഗിബെയോനിലെ വലിയ പാറയുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അമാസാ അവൎക്കെതിരെ വന്നു. എന്നാൽ യോവാബ് ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന പടയങ്കിമേൽ ഒരു കച്ചയിൽ ഉറയോടുകൂടെ ഒരു വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടിയിരിന്നു; അവൻ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു വീണുപോയി.
9 And Joab said to Amasa, "Is it well with you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
യോവാബ് അമാസയോടു: സഹോദരാ, സുഖം തന്നേയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അമാസയെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്‌വാൻ വലത്തുകൈകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ താടിക്കു പിടിച്ചു.
10 But Amasa did not notice the sword that was in Joab's hand. And he stabbed him with it in the abdomen, so that his intestines spilled out on the ground, and he did not do it to him again. Thus he died. Then Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba son of Bikri.
എന്നാൽ യോവാബിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വാൾ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു അമാസാ സൂക്ഷിച്ചില്ല; യോവാബ് അവനെ അതു കൊണ്ടു വയറ്റത്തു കുത്തി കുടൽ ചോൎത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു; രണ്ടാമതു കുത്തേണ്ടിവന്നില്ല; അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി. യോവാബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടൎന്നു.
11 And one of Joab's young men stood beside Amasa and said, "Whoever is the one that favors Joab and whoever belongs to David, follow Joab."
യോവാബിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ അതിന്നരികെ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു യോവാബിനോടു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളവനും ദാവീദിന്റെ പക്ഷക്കാരനും യോവാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12 But Amasa lay covered with his blood in the midst of the road, and anyone who came by, seeing him, stopped. So when the man saw that all the people stopped, he dragged Amasa from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.
അമാസാ വഴിനടുവിൽ രക്തത്തിൽ മുഴുകി കിടന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ജനമൊക്കെയും നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവൻ അമാസയെ വഴിയിൽനിന്നു വയലിലേക്കു മാറ്റി; അവിടെ എത്തുന്നവനെല്ലാം നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു കാൺകകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ഒരു വസ്ത്രം അവന്റെമേൽ ഇട്ടു.
13 When he was removed from the road, all the people followed Joab in pursuit of Sheba son of Bikri.
അവനെ പെരുവഴിയിൽനിന്നു മാറ്റിയശേഷം എല്ലാവരും ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയെ പിന്തുടരുവാൻ യോവാബിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പോയി.
14 He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel of Beth Maacah, and all the Bikrites assembled and followed him.
എന്നാൽ ശേബ എല്ലായിസ്രായേൽഗോത്രങ്ങളിലും കൂടി കടന്നു ആബേലിലും ബേത്ത്-മാഖയിലും എല്ലാബേൎയ്യരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; അവരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.
15 And all the people who were with Joab came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah. And they built a siege ramp against the city, and it stood against the rampart, and they were battering the wall so that it would collapse.
മറ്റവർ വന്നു ബേത്ത്-മാഖയോടു ചേൎന്ന ആബേലിൽ അവനെ നിരോധിച്ചു പട്ടണത്തിന്നു നേരെ വാടകോരി; അതു കിടങ്ങിന്റെ വക്കത്തായിരുന്നു; യോവാബിനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാ പടജ്ജനവും മതിൽ തള്ളിയിടുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഇടിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.
16 Then a wise woman called out from the wall, "Listen, listen. Please tell Joab to come here so that I may speak to him.
അപ്പോൾ ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള ഒരു സ്ത്രീ: കേൾപ്പിൻ, കേൾപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ യോവാബിനോടു സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇവിടെ അടുത്തുവരുവാൻ അവനോടു പറവിൻ എന്നു പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
17 So he approached her, and the woman said, "Are you Joab?" And he replied, "I am." Then she said, "Listen to the words of your servant." And he replied, "I'm listening."
അവൻ അടുത്തുചെന്നപ്പോൾ: നീ യോവാബോ എന്നു ആ സ്ത്രീ ചോദിച്ചു. അതേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ അവനോടു: അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാൻ കേൾക്കാം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
18 Then she said, "In the past they used to say, 'Let them inquire in Abel and in Dan whether
എന്നാറെ അവൾ: ആബേലിൽ ചെന്നു ചോദിക്കേണം എന്നു പണ്ടൊക്കെ പറകയും അങ്ങനെ കാൎയ്യം തീൎക്കുകയും ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.
19 that which the faithful of Israel established has been carried out.' You seek to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the inheritance of YHWH?"
ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിൽ സമാധാനവും വിശ്വസ്തതയും ഉള്ളവരിൽ ഒരുത്തി ആകുന്നു; നീ യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു പട്ടണത്തെയും ഒരു മാതാവിനെയും നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുന്നു; നീ യഹോവയുടെ അവകാശം മുടിച്ചുകളയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 Joab answered, "Far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy.
അതിന്നു യോവാബ്: മുടിച്ചുകളകയോ നശിപ്പിക്കയോ ചെയ്‌വാൻ എനിക്കു ഒരിക്കലും സംഗതിയാകരുതേ.
21 That is not the case. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bikri, has rebelled against king David. Give up him alone and I will withdraw from the city." Then the woman said to Joab, "Look, his head will be thrown to you from the wall."
കാൎയ്യം അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബ എന്നൊരു എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടുകാരൻ ദാവീദ് രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതന്നാൽ മാത്രം മതി; ഞാൻ പട്ടണത്തെ വിട്ടുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രീ യോവാബിനോടു: അവന്റെ തല മതിലിന്റെ മുകളിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇട്ടുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Then she spoke to all the city with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bikri and threw it out to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from him, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to Jerusalem to the king.
അങ്ങനെ സ്ത്രീ ചെന്നു തന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ സകലജനത്തെയും സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു; അവർ ബിക്രിയുടെ മകനായ ശേബയുടെ തല വെട്ടി യോവാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; അപ്പോൾ അവൻ കാഹളം ഊതി, എല്ലാവരും പട്ടണം വിട്ടു വീടുകളിലേക്കു പോയി. യോവാബ് യെരൂശലേമിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
23 Now Joab was in command of the entire army of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and in command of the Pelethites;
യോവാബ് യിസ്രായേൽസൈന്യത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും അധിപതി ആയിരുന്നു; യെഹോയാദായുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ക്രേത്യരുടെയും പ്ലേത്യരുടെയും നായകൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
24 and Adoniram was in command of the forced labor; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
അദോരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാൎക്കു മേൽവിചാരകൻ; അഹിലൂദിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് മന്ത്രി;
25 and Shisha was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
ശെവാ രായസക്കാരൻ; സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാർ.
26 and also Ira the Jairite was David's priest.
യായീൎയ്യനായ ഈരയും ദാവീദിന്റെ പുരോഹിതൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
