2 Corinthians 4
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we do not faint.
Ideo habentes administrationem, iuxta quod misericordiam consecuti sumus, non deficimus,
2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
sed abdicamus occulta dedecoris, non ambulantes in astutia, neque adulterantes verbum Dei, sed in manifestatione veritatis commendantes nosmetipsos ad omnem conscientiam hominum coram Deo.
3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing;
Quod si etiam opertum est Evangelium nostrum: in iis, qui pereunt, est opertum:
4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so they would not see the light of the glorious Good News of Christ, who is the image of God. (aiōn g165)
in quibus Deus huius saeculi excaecavit mentes infidelium, ut non fulgeat illis illuminatio Evangelii gloriae Christi, qui est imago Dei. (aiōn g165)
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.
Non enim nosmetipsos praedicamus, sed Iesum Christum Dominum nostrum: nos autem servos vestros per Iesum:
6 For it is God, who spoke for light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
quoniam Deus, qui dixit de tenebris lucem splendescere, ipse illuxit in cordibus nostris ad illuminationem scientiae claritatis Dei, in facie Christi Iesu.
7 But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.
Habemus autem thesaurum istum in vasis fictilibus: ut sublimitas sit virtutis Dei, et non ex nobis.
8 We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair;
In omnibus tribulationem patimur, sed non angustiamur: aporiamur, sed non destituimur:
9 pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed;
persecutionem patimur, sed non derelinquimur: humiliamur, sed non confundimur deiicimur, sed non perimus:
10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
semper mortificationem Iesu in corpore nostro circumferentes, ut et vita Iesu manifestetur in corporibus nostris.
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh.
Semper enim nos, qui vivimus, in mortem tradimur propter Iesum: ut et vita Iesu manifestetur in carne nostra mortali.
12 So then death works in us, but life in you.
Ergo mors in nobis operatur, vita autem in vobis.
13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, "I believed, and therefore I spoke." We also believe, and therefore also we speak;
Habentes autem eundem spiritum fidei, sicut scriptum est: Credidi, Propter quod locutus sum: et nos credimus, propter quod et loquimur:
14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.
scientes quoniam qui suscitavit Iesum, et nos cum Iesu suscitabit, et constituet vobiscum.
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
Omnia enim propter vos: ut gratia abundans, per multos in gratiarum actione, abundet in gloriam Dei.
16 Therefore we do not become discouraged, but even though our outer nature is wearing away, yet our inner nature is being renewed day by day.
Propter quod non deficimus: sed licet is, qui foris est, noster homo corrumpatur: tamen is, qui intus est, renovatur de die in diem.
17 For this momentary light affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and everlasting weight of glory; (aiōnios g166)
Id enim, quod in praesenti est momentaneum et leve tribulationis nostrae, supra modum in sublimitate aeternum gloriae pondus operatur in nobis, (aiōnios g166)
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are everlasting. (aiōnios g166)
non contemplantibus nobis quae videntur, sed quae non videntur. Quae enim videntur, temporalia sunt: quae autem non videntur, aeterna sunt. (aiōnios g166)
