< 1 Timothy 5 >

1 Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;
Ungamkhalimeli omdala, kodwa meluleke njengoyihlo; abatsha njengabafowenu;
2 the older women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
abesifazana abadala njengonyoko; abesifazana abatsha njengabodadewenu, ekuhlambulukeni konke.
3 Honor widows who are widows indeed.
Hlonipha abafelokazi abangabafelokazi isibili.
4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Kodwa uba umfelokazi othile elabantwana loba abazukulu, kabafunde kuqala ukuhlonipha indlu yakwabo, kabenanise umkhondo kubazali; ngoba lokhu kuhle kuyemukeleka phambi kukaNkulunkulu.
5 Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
Lowo-ke ongumfelokazi isibili osele yedwa uthembele kuNkulunkulu, uhlala ekunxuseni lemikhulekweni ebusuku lemini.
6 But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.
Kanti lowo ozinikela ekuzithokoziseni, ufile ephila.
7 Also command these things, so that they will be without fault.
Laya-ke ngalezizinto, ukuze bangasoleki.
8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
Kodwa uba umuntu engondli abakibo, ikakhulu abendlu yakhe, uluphikile ukholo, futhi mubi kulongakholwayo.
9 Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
Kangabalwa umfelokazi ongaphansi kweminyaka engamatshumi ayisithupha, umfazi owake wenda endodeni kanye,
10 being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
onconywa ngemisebenzi emihle, uba ondle abantwana, uba engenise izihambi, uba egezise inyawo zabangcwele, uba esize abahluphekayo, uba ekhuthalele wonke umsebenzi omuhle.
11 But refuse younger widows, for whenever their passions lead them away from Christ, they desire to marry;
Kodwa abafelokazi abatsha ubale; ngoba nxa sebelenkanuko ezimelana loKristu, bafuna ukwenda;
12 having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.
balokulahlwa, ngoba bachithile ukholo lwabo lokuqala.
13 Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
Futhi-ke ngesikhathi esifananayo bafunda ukuvilapha bezula lezindlu, futhi bengavilaphi kuphela, kodwa babuye bahlebe bengena kokungeyisikho okwabo, bekhuluma okungafanelanga.
14 I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling.
Ngakho ngifisa ukuthi abafelokazi abatsha bende, bazale abantwana, baphathe umuzi wabo, banganiki isitha lathuba lokuthuka.
15 For already some have turned aside after Satan.
Ngoba lakhathesi abanye sebephambuke balandela uSathane.
16 If any believing woman has widows, she must assist them, and do not let the church be burdened; that it might help those widows who are truly in need.
Uba okholwayo owesilisa kumbe okholwayo owesifazana elabafelokazi, kabasize, njalo ibandla lingathwaliswa nzima, ukuze lisize abangabafelokazi isibili.
17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
Abadala abaphatha kuhle bafanele ukuhlonitshwa ngokuphindiweyo, ikakhulu labo abasebenza nzima elizwini lekufundiseni;
18 For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
ngoba umbhalo uthi: Ungayifaki isayeke inkabi ebhulayo; futhi uthi: Isisebenzi sifanele iholo laso.
19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except at the word of two or three witnesses.
Ungalemukeli icala elimelana lomdala, ngaphandle phambi kwabafakazi ababili kumbe abathathu.
20 Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.
Abonayo basole phambi kwabo bonke, ukuze abanye labo babe lokwesaba.
21 I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
Ngiyakulayisisa phambi kukaNkulunkulu leNkosi uJesu Kristu lengilosi ezikhethiweyo, ukuze uzigcine lezizinto ngokungaqumi ngaphambili, ungenzi lutho ngokubandlulula.
22 Do not ordain anyone hastily, nor participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
Ungaphangisi ukubeka izandla phezu komuntu, futhi ungahlanganyeli ezonweni zabanye; uzigcine wena umsulwa.
23 Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.
Ungabe usanatha amanzi wodwa, kodwa sebenzisa iwayini elilutshwana, ngenxa yesisu sakho lemikhuhlane yakho futhifuthi.
24 The sins of some people are obvious, going before them to judgment, but those of others show up later.
Izono zabanye abantu zisobala, zibaqalela ukuya ekugwetshweni; kanti ezabanye ziyalandela.
25 In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
Ngokunjalo lemisebenzi emihle isobala; laleyo eyehlukileyo ingeke ifihlakale.
