1 Thessalonians 4
1 Finally then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to live and to please God, even as you are living, that you excel more and more.
ⲁ̅ⲗⲟⲓⲡⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲛⲧⲱⲃϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥⲉ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲑⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ.
2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
ⲃ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓϩⲟⲛϩⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲁⲛⲧⲏ ⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
3 For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,
ⲅ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲑⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲁⲣⲉϩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ϯⲡⲟⲣⲛⲓ⳿ⲁ.
4 that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
ⲇ̅ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥ⳿ⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϫⲫⲟϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ.
5 not in the passion of lust, even as the nations who do not know God;
ⲉ̅ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲕⲉⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲁⲛ.
6 that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
ⲋ̅⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ϫⲉ Ⲡ⳪ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϭⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲓϣ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲛⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲛⲉⲣⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ.
7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
ⲍ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲁ ⲫϯ ⲑⲁϩⲙⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩ ϭⲱϧⲉⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ.
8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.
ⲏ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲛⲁϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲫϯ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ.
9 But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,
ⲑ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲣⲉϥϭⲓ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ.
10 for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;
ⲓ̅ⲕⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲑⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲟⲛⲓⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲧⲉⲛϯϩⲟ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ.
11 and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you;
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣⲣⲉⲙⲣⲁⲩϣ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϫⲓϫ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲛϩⲟⲛϩⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.
12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲟⲩⲃⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣ⳿ⲭ ⲣⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲗⲓ.
13 But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you do not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲉϣ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲡⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϩϯ ϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲛϥ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲫϯ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ.
15 For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲛϧ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲥⲉⲡⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲧⲡⲁⲣⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲫⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ.
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ Ⲡ⳪ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⳿ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲏⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲡⲓⲅⲅⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲣⲉϥⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ.
17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲛϧ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲥⲱϫⲡ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲗⲙⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲡ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛϭⲏⲡⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲁⲡⲁⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲁⲏⲣ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲛ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡ⳪ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
